CHAPTER 5: Unknown Energy

THAT was intense. She gave us all her rules and regulations but there were no consequences at all. So why bother following her then?

"Why? But you just said I have to be involved, right? Why are you suddenly pulling me off the track?" Hiro said.

I sat on our sofa and looked at him with my pale face.

"We don't need a weak guy," I said.

"Haha, that's offensive. But I'm not weak. Are you judging me this soon? I'll show what these muscles can do!" he said. I rolled my eyes upward.

"Pfft, where can I find those muscles of yours?" I asked while smiling mischievously.

"Let him join, Aya. What's wrong with that?" Mune interfered.

"Shut up, frog! Who's this guy, Amaya? He keeps on getting in between our conversations like he's part of the family."

"Cause I do, punk. I'm her twin, and you dare to insult me to my face? Now, leave!" Mune said.

"Y-you're her brother? Gomenasai, mianhaeyo, I'm sorry, please forgive me," he said continuously and kneel before Mune.

I laughed watching them fighting like a child. Honestly? She assigned me to do a task that I can do all by myself, with these two gawky guys? Oh, come on, moon spirit.

Mune suddenly looked at me.

Uh-oh, he might've heard my mind.

"GAWKY, HUH?!" he said and ran to catch me! Oh no!

I ran towards Hiro and hid behind him.

"Man, stop it. Don't hurt my girl."

"My girl? She's MY girl! Wait, I'm getting confused. Why are you suddenly claiming her as yours?!" Mune asked.

"Yes, he's right. I want to know as well. Why?" I added.

"Argh! Do I have to explain everything? I like you!" he said.

"Meh."

"Oh, I see."

"W-what?! Is that your overall reaction after I just confessed?"

I tap his chest.

"You're just enchanted by my looks. Don't worry, you're not the only one who confessed your love to a beautiful girl like me. Now, it's time for you to go," I said and pushed him, causing him to go outside our house with my force.

"Finally, some peace. Tell me, why have you decided to keep him after he passed out in the forest?" Mune asked.

I looked into the ring I had, where I stored a tiny bit of Hiro's energy and gave it to Mune.

"This is his energy I collected. Look into it. He has a fox bead, hence, he's a pure human. I don't know what it is, but he feels different," I said.

"So you also feel it?" he asked.

"Yeah, my burn hurts again. But it wasn't that fatal yet like before. I can tolerate it now," I said.

"Then you should avoid that guy! Please, don't give another reason to Venus to get mad again. This is our last chance to save the fox community."

And a bunch of claps suddenly resound the whole mansion.

It's Jennie, she's in the Delta pack where Kent is their leader.

What the hell is she doing here?

"I will not let you save the foxes. There's no fox left, except your pack and mine," she said.

"Are you bored?" I asked.

She laughed a little bit, walked toward me, and held my chin with force.

"You think you can overpower me just because Venus assigned you to do such a task? I will not let you succeed, Amaya," she said and snap my chin forcibly.

Mune pushed Jennie away.

"Gosh. Have you learned to talk properly without splashing your dirty saliva on someone's face?" he said. I smirked.

'Hey, don't be too hard on her!' I said to him in my mind.

Jennie felt embarrassed, I could feel it through her eyes so I smiled.

"I-I didn't!" she defended.

"Whatever. Just leave our house, Jennie. You keep on bothering me with such a lame reason. But you're just making yourself look like a pathetic one," I said.

"Pathetic, huh?" she said.

Suddenly, she teleported the vase that Venus gave us to her.

"Now, who's pathetic?!" she said and was about to let go of the vase.

But interrupted because Hiro came back.

THE HECK?!

"HEY! WHY DID YOU SHUT ME DOWN! I said I want to go with you! Please?" he said.

Jennie became weaker.

"What is this energy, it's making me fucking weak. Who is he? Is he a fox too?"

"Fox? Fox doesn't live here. Is this girl crazy?" Hiro asked.

Mune and I looked at each other, both confused.

"What did you do to her?" Mune asked.

"What? I didn't do anything," Hiro responded.

"Stop it, Mune. He has nothing to do with this," I said. Hiro suddenly clung to me.

Jennie's fox bead glows from the inside and begins to growl. She's getting so weak.

"Shit."

Mune teleported towards Jennie and teleported again outside the mansion.

I looked at Hiro, his eyes turned gray!

But I can see how naive he is. Although his eyes transform into something else, he's not aware of it.

"Leave," I uttered.

"What? Why? I didn't do anything wrong to your friend!" he said.

"No, that wasn't the reason. I just don't want you to butt in. You don't know our world," I said and my eyes turned blue.

"I don't care," he replied.

I let all my tails out, and let my brown eyes turn red.

"W-what's that?"

"You've seen this before, but I'm sure someone tampered with your memory. Anyway, this is me," I said.

He was so shocked that his knees became jellies.

"I knew you would react this way. See? I'm beautiful, but I'm different. I could also turn into a beastly nature you would never imagine. Leave now, and don't ever come back," I added and teleported him outside and a little far to our mansion. so that he would get lost.

I know I want him gone for good.

But my guts are telling me that we will meet again sooner.

THE news about the upcoming end of the foxes' curse has quickly spread, and I'm starting to get annoyed.

"I told you to watch out! How did this happen?!" I shouted.

"Dude, you're the one who's flirting, right?!"

My fangs got sharper as my anger grew.

"It's my problem if I'm flirting and getting a girl or not. But you? YOU owe me your life so you should do whatever I say! Or you want me to kill you?" I said.

"Well, Aya's your girlfriend, isn't she? You should've asked her!"

"Why don't you? You like her, right?" I said. He was embarrassed and looked his eyes away.

"Also, she's not my girlfriend. Just do your job properly! I need to eat humans now 'cause of the hunger you made me feel! Be friends with the two of them and gain their trust," I said. I turned into a bat and rushed out to my spooky little mansion.

I just made an excuse to get out and take a look at her. The girl I met in the middle of the forest.

I brought a bunch of cooked meat, fruits, and beverages through hypnotism.

"Who's there?!" she suddenly shouted. She had the best hearing ability, my goodness.

I cleared my throat.

"It's me again. Please, don't get mad. I just want to compensate you," I said.

She opened the door of her tent, and there I saw her condition.

She used a thick branch as support to let her stand. A piece of her t-shirt has been ripped, and I assumed she used it to conceal her wound.

Sighed.

That stung made her like this, what should I do?

"I told you to back off and never come, right?!" she said.

"I'm sorry... I just wanted to give you this gift. I assumed you were not yet eating. Please have some," I said. She looked at my hand and gulped.

"...see that? I knew it! Don't be shy and eat all of this," I said and barged in.

"H-hey! Okay fine, you let yourself in, that means you're trespassing. But I'll let this slide since I want your food. Okay?! THAT'S IT!" she said and grabbed the food I brought.

She ate them like a man, and it satisfies my eyes to see her.

Oh this heart, she's making it flutter.

I'd zinged into her.

"What are you doing?!" she asked.

I raised both of my arms to form an X.

"Nothing!" I said and that made her smile awkwardly.

"You don't have to do that, I'm not deaf or blind, okay?! I can hear what you're saying, dumb," she said while smiling and shaking her head.

While she's eating, I hold her foot and focus to heal her wound.

It was quiet for the first 3 mins while my eyes were closed until she punched me REAL HARD!

"GET OUT! You're weird!" she said and kicked me.

"What did I do wrong?! You didn't even thank me!" I said from the outside.

She opened her door and threw all the food to my face.

COME ON!

"Here's what you're proud of!" she said and slammed the fucking door.

"Do I deserve this? Argh! Please don't be like that, I just want to be your friend!" I said.

"Then don't act like a child! Leave me alone!" she said.

"No..."

"Please go."

"Okay okay, I'll go. Only if you give me your name," I said.

"NO WAY! If you don't leave, I will make sure not to run into you again!" she said. Honestly, that made me so scared. I want to know her better.

Instead of pushing her to give me her name, I just hid in the trees, waiting for her to come out.

"YNA! ANGELINA?! ARE YOU STILL THERE?"

Some man comes running and bangs her door.

What did he say? Angelika?

"Hiro is that you?!" she asked.

"Oh thank god, you're safe!" he said. She opened her door, with tears on her eyes swollen like she cried for hours, and climbed onto him.

Fuck.

Who is this guy? What makes him better? The girl I liked clinging more freely to her than me?!

And what is this feeling?

It's like a moon is in front of me, giving so much energy and power over my veins.

This is different.

BUT I'M GETTING SO MAD AT HIM!

"Where have you been? You left me all alone, this is so scary here! A bunch of creatures is starting to greet me. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!" she continuously said.

"That's the reason why I don't want to count you in. But now that you're here, I have no choice at all. We have to leave this tent," he said.

What? They're leaving?

"Fine, but help me with this string. It has been stuck here for 2 days," she said.

Both of them came inside and now I don't know what they are saying.

ARGH!! If only I were a nine-tailed fox!

"Who are you?"

"FUCK, DUDE! Where did you come from? You almost killed me!" I said.

'Cause, that guy suddenly appeared in front of me. I thought they came inside?

Does he know I'm here all along?

"Are you stalking my sister?"

"Sister? S-she's just your sister?" I asked.

My heart is thumping so fast as I wait for his answers. My god, be calm, self.

"What else do you think? Bro, go away before my bright eyesight turns black and do something bad to you," he said.

"That's right! Leave, moron!" Angelika said.

I think that's Angelika 'cause that's what I've heard from him.

"I'll leave for now. See you soon, my princess," I said and ran.

I didn't transform into a bat 'cause I'm afraid she might be shocked.

I'll be sure to get back to that guy.

There's something in his energy that I need to take. It has to be in my possession.

LATER that day when I sent Hiro away, I and Mune have to do our first task.

The first soul to greet hello is a guy who died on the way to his wedding.

"What happened to Jen, is she alright?" I asked while walking.

"I guess so. She became normal after getting away from Hiro. By the way, we shouldn't let him go. He has something that might harm him," he said.

"Forget it. He was involved when our parents died. And I don't want to betray my Kira and Loki for counting him in," I replied.

Just thinking about him makes my blood boil.

"You know how greedy Jen is, and so is Kent. They might rip his body apart," he said.

"Come on! Kent isn't like that!"

"Accept the fact that your boyfriend is such a witch," he said.

"He's not my boyfriend. He's just my fling, okay? I don't want to look pathetic in your eyes. That's why I said he is my boyfriend," I said, but I think Mune isn't listening.

He's looking somewhere, so I looked into it as well.

It was Hiro, he was caught by the trap that humans made for boars. He is groaning in pain.

I ran towards him.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Y-you... came for me?" he asked. I rolled my eyes upward.

"Dream on," I said and helped to lift him.

I looked into his feet, it was wounded by the shaft planted in the trap.

I held onto it to heal faster.

"HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MY BROTHER?!" a girl shouted from behind and when I looked at her, she was running towards me with a knife in her hand!

I ran behind Mune.

"Cover me! Humans are crazy creatures. I will never fall in love with them," I murmured.

"And so am I," he said.

I thought she was going to stab him, but even before she reached us, she looked shocked.

"Am I dead, Hiro? Is this an angel? Or a grim reaper? If so, I'm willing to come with you!" she said.

"Crazy people. Let's leave, Aya," Mune said. But Hiro interfered again.

"Hey, no!" that girl said.

"Count me in please!" he said.

"I said, NO!" my eyes turned red.

"...what's so hard to understand that one word contains two letters N and O?" I added and kicked him.

I didn't intend to push him that hard, but the damage has been done!

I ran towards him again and check his body.

I'VE BEEN RUNNING FOR COUNTLESS TIMES TODAY!

"A-are you okay?"

He's not answering!

"Just include him, Aya."

"What's with that including things?" that girl asked.

"Just don't ask. Anyway, Amaya, don't leave him behind."

AAAHHHH! THIS IS INSANE!

"FINE! I'll let you come along!" I said. And suddenly, he stood up and jumped in joy!

"But in one condition," I said.

He looked at me curiously, waiting for what I'm about to say.

"...starting today, you are mine."
