9 ALICIA

How do I feel?

I don't know, it's a jumble of emotions swirling through my body right now, but I really shouldn't be feeling anything about Elijah Morgan's life. He's just my boss, after all. However, a week ago, he was practically undressing me with his eyes and couldn't stop saying how crazy he was about me. And it seems it's true that he has any woman he wants chasing after him. I almost became one of his statistics of women he's slept with in his office.

"Hey!" Mike, who's in Elijah's group, approaches me with a charming smile, but I shoot him a deadly look. It was him who sent me to Elijah's office under the pretense that he was "calling me to talk."

"I'm not talking to you," I continue on to get more drinks for other customers.

"Hey, I'm sorry," he stops me in the midst of the crowd. "Here's the thing, Elijah and I made a bet about who could get you to talk to them. I didn't know you already belonged to him, and I wanted to win."

"That doesn't fix anything."

"I know, that's why I have a proposition for you," a mischievous smile plays on his lips. "Elijah's a stubborn guy. When he was born, he didn't cry, he told everyone around him to go to hell."

I burst into laughter.

"And what are you proposing?"

"Let's flirt," he says. "And make him lose. The bet is for $200,000. If you agree, I'll give you $100,000 right now."

"How much?!"

"Just what you heard, lady. Do you accept?"

Wow! With $100,000, I could cover a lot in my life, especially my father's chemotherapy sessions.

"You're not lying, are you?" I give him a skeptical look.

"I know we just met, but I'm someone who always keeps promises."

"Mike, if you're fooling me, I'll hunt you down to the ends of the Earth and tear you apart."

"Deal?" Mike extends his hand to me.

"Deal," I shake his hand, and a sinister smile appears on his face.

"How about we go to the bar for a drink?" Mike drapes his arm over my shoulders, and we start walking toward the bar.

"But I can't drink alcohol because I'm working."

"Just having you here is enough for me."

All night, Mike doesn't leave my side. We talk for hours, and I must say, he's a sweetheart. Not only that, I got to see all his sides, and he even confessed that he's bisexual, which led my mind to wander into some sexual thoughts.

And as this is happening, I can feel Elijah's gaze on the back of my neck. This is when I flirt with Mike the most, and he doesn't waste a single moment. From where I stand, I can see that Elijah is red with anger, but he can't do anything about it. After all, he has his temporary fling to satisfy his immediate needs.

"How about we kiss?" I suggest.

"Wow, you're quite the schemer," Mike grins wide. "But I'd like to keep my head intact."

"Come on, Mike, say yes!" I pout my lower lip to generate some tenderness.

"Oh my God!" Mike exclaims as if he's just been enlightened. "You're into Elijah too!"

"What? No! Of course I'm not, besides, he's my boss."

"So what? Alicia, you have no idea the power you'd have by being with him. And it's clear he also has feelings for you. Why don't you give my guy a chance?"

I look in another direction, but luckily, Elijah is in my line of sight.

"It wouldn't be appropriate," I respond.

"Alicia, my dear, I can tell you're an angel, but if you don't act a little wicked in life, everyone will walk all over you. And if Elijah's set his sights on you, at least give him a chance and take everything you can from him."

"I'm not that kind of woman."

"Fine, you're not, but remember that once in a while, you can have it all."

"I..."

"Think about it," he holds my cheeks. "Now it's time to put a price on my head."

Mike presses his lips against mine, and I try to suppress a laugh. We can't ruin our little act. Until I feel someone grabbing my arm and pulling me away from Mike. All I can see is Mike smiling mischievously.

It's Elijah who had taken me away from his friend to bring me into the elevator.

"Let go of me," I shake off his grip once we're inside.

"What are you doing, kissing Mike?" He corners me against one of the corners of the elevator.

"It's none of your business," I push him away. "Whatever I do doesn't concern you."

"But you can interrupt me when I'm in my office?"

"I was called because you 'needed' me."

"Well, clearly, I was with someone who was giving me what I wanted."

"Let me applaud you for that," I clap my hands three times and then cross my arms. "Now let me get out of here and go be with your lady."

"So, you kissed my best friend out of jealousy?" A sly smile appears on his lips. He runs his hand down my hips and pulls me closer to his body. "You don't have to be jealous."

He buries his face in my neck and gives me light kisses, to which I let out a cold breath.

"Let go of me," I try to free myself. "I'm not going to have anything to do with you after seeing you have sex a few minutes ago." I push him away forcefully and manage to separate from him.

"Forget it, just like I'll forget that you went out with the guy who asked you out at the restaurant."

I look at him completely puzzled and with a million questions.

"How do you know that?" He doesn't answer. "Elijah, tell me right now, how do you know that?"

"I just know," he shrugs.

"Are you stalking me?" I exclaim, frustrated and completely incredulous, and Elijah still doesn't say anything. "God, you're a cynic!"

The elevator doors open right on the fourth floor, and I leave to go straight to the emergency stairs and back to my workplace.

"Where do you think you're going?" Elijah grabs my forearm.

"I have to work," I try to break free. "Let go of me, Elijah!" I stomp my foot like a child.

He doesn't say anything, he simply drags me to his office. Some of the people on the fourth floor are looking at us with anticipation, wanting to know what's happening between us. But I don't want to enter his office where he was having sex with a woman just minutes ago. Plus, I don't understand why I feel so damn helpless!

Because Elijah can be with any woman, and I couldn't care less, but he has this something... it drives me crazy!

We enter his office, and I eye his desk warily.

"None of this would be happening if you'd give me what I want," Elijah speaks.

"Damn son of a bitch," I scoff with anger. "I don't know what kind of world you live in, but when I say I don't want to do something, it's because I don't want to!" I exclaim. "But the only explanation I want from you is, how do you know I went out with Chad?"

"What's his last name?" He demands, ignoring everything I said earlier.

"Why? So you can threaten him?"

"Yes, because no one messes with what's mine, and that's what you are." Elijah presses against my body like an angry bull. "I don't want anyone else touching you, looking at you, or talking to you."

"I'm not an object," I remind him. "I'm a person, and I definitely don't belong to you."

"You've been mine since the moment I kissed your sweet lips."

"Go to hell," I push him away to be able to leave his office, which still smells like that cheap slut.

"You're not leaving here." He imprisons me in his arms again. "Not until you hear what I have to say."

"Is the little girl feeling sad?" I speak sarcastically. "Well, I couldn't give a damn."

"No, I'm not sad, but I do want you to listen. Is that too much to ask?"

I stay silent, but keep moving erratically to break free from his grip.

"I'm not letting go until you calm down," he says.

"You're unbearable," I let my arms drop so he'll finally release me. "What do you want to tell me?"

"Please, just sit down," he points to the chair in front of his desk.

"I'm not sitting there, not after seeing you have sex."

"If it helps, I didn't orgasm because of you," he huffs, clearly frustrated.

"And here you go again with the same thing. It's not my fault you're sexually impotent."

A smile tugs at his lips, and he shakes his head.

"Give me the chance to prove that I'm not impotent."
