CHAPTER 2
As an Alpha, River wasn't supposed to have any regrets. Whatever he did was something that he had perfectly calculated beforehand and he was certain that it would work out because like had said everything was done with reason and within measure.
But Cammy, with her black locks that framed her face and her vibrant blue eyes she was something else. He had never loved a woman the way that he had loved her. When he got rid of her years ago he had thought that he would never see her again. He had told himself that he wouldn't because he wanted to make himself feel better but now as he stared at his tv screen and he watched her smile at the man that interviewed her he felt as the emotions that he had suppressed for all these years slowly returned to the surface.
“Miss Clarke, can you tell us about your success in your latest case? This is a big deal isn't it. I hear that they may be making you the lead journalist of the new York times”. He heard the man say and he felt his body tense as he watched the way that the man leaned into her. He didn't like that and he was tempted to reach in and rip his arm off his body.
“Don't be modest. It isn't that huge of a deal.” She said to him. “It is something that you have thought about multiple times and you have spent so many years working on it. And now you have been able to take down one of the largest cartels in the whole of America.” He said to her and he watched as she only gave a shaky laugh.
“Well it wasn't anything and they were one of our biggest threats. Their child trafficking ring had caused the demise and the disappearance of thousands of women as well as children”. She said and he could tell how passionate about it she was by the way she moved her hands to exaggerate her point. He couldn't help but smile at the sight as he remembered when she used to do that around him.
“And what do you say to Mr. Santos who had claimed that he would not allow you to succeed and that he would do anything in his power to bring you down.” This made River tense. She had been putting herself in danger for far too long. He couldn't stand to let Her do that anymore.
“I tell him to come and get me. I am not afraid of him and the good will always win in the end”. She said as she stared straight into The camera.
River shot up from his chair and paced the floors in frustration as he ran a hand through his hair. He couldn't believe that she would have said and done that. She had put herself out in the open like that. What was the point of him giving her up in the first place if she was only going to act this way.
He knew that It was is fault in a way because he was the one who had pushed her way in the first place but the last thing ghost He had wanted was for her to put herself in harm’s way because of him. He wanted, no he needed to fix this and put a stop to it once and for all.
He remembered the day that he had realized that he had to let her go all too clearly. It wasn't something that he wanted to do but he knew that he didn't have a choice in the matter. He had met with one of his father’s witches and they had told him that their relationship was doomed. If she were to turn eighteen she would be wolf less and if he were to mark and mate her she would end up dying.
He had chosen to let her go until he could find a solution and that was when he had gotten Alice . He hadn’t meant to play around with her but it had just happened and the things only because even more difficult when she had become pregnant with his child. She was a crafty witch and had played with his mind leaving him vulnerable. She disguised herself as an omega of Red moon pack allowing her to hide in plain sight
He had tried to Leave her but she had managed to trick him into giving Cammy a potion that if she didn't get a cure she would die. He had to play the part long enough for him to find a way to stop her.
It had been seven years since then and after he had been able to send Cammy away and he had gotten rid of Alice he had made an attempt to get back in touch with his mate. He wanted to see her as well and he wanted to explain everything to her. He had sent her three letters and she had managed to ignore all of them. But no more he wouldn't allow her to continue to put him in danger.
He looked down to the small play area in front of his desk and smiled when he saw Jackson. He was a quiet kid but he was very observant for his age. As he stared at him intently he watched as his gaze drifted toward the tv and stared at Cammy. She was indeed a sight but he would scribble something down as well.
“Hey bud what are you doing”. He asked and he only shrugged his shoulders at him in response. “I like her. She's beautiful.” He said and he only hummed because he had to agree it was true.
“I need you to come now .” He spoke to his Eta Sam through the link. He shut it off before he could reply as he looked towards the tv again and stared at her intently. He would have her back with him soon enough and when she returned he wouldn't allow her to go anymore.
How was pulled out of his thoughts when he heard the sound of a loud knock on his door and he gestured for him to come on. He watched as Sam made his way into the room and looked at him hesitantly.
“What is it?” He asked. “It's her''. River said as he features towards the on the screen. He watched as Sam sighed. “Of course it is. It is always her. She occupied your every thought. '' he said to him in a mutter and he watched as he shrugged his shoulders. “When isn't it?”
“Well, what do you want me to do for You today? Is there a letter that you want me to send out to her." he asked and she shook his head. “I need to get her back. It is time for her to come he she has put herself in too much danger already.” He said and he watched as he sighed.
“That is what you said the other times and she didn't come back. What is the difference now.” He asked him.
“Well tell her that pap pap is dying.” He said to him and he watched as he furrowed his brows. “When she realizes that you lied to her it won't end well." he said to him in warning and he only shrugged his shoulders at him in response.” He was willing to take those chances.
“I will deal with that when the time comes.” He said to him in a mutter and he watched as he grinned at him tightly and he wondered what the reason was. “Well I am glad to see that you are coming back to your senses and being a true Alpha because the general and I were all worried about you. And she was set for an intervention.” He said to him.
“Whatever. Prepare yourself to leave tomorrow”. He said to him And he gave him a small salute before he turned himself around to leave. He let out a sigh from his lips at the very thought.
He turned towards Jackson as he watched as he scrambled to his feet. He looked just like him when he was younger and seeing him like this always managed to bring a smile to his face.
He watched as he smiled before coming over to the door. “Come daddy.” He said and he furrowed his eyebrows before following him towards his own room. He made his way towards the computer and he watched as he googled someone and Cammy popped up. He looked toward him with a bright smile as he pointed towards her.
“Beauty. I want to see” Jackson said to him and he couldn't help but smile as he felt a plan begin to form in his head. Maybe this was what he needed to get her back.
He smirked and he sent a link to his beta. “You will be taking Jackson to see her but you must ensure he is well protected at all times and ensure that nothing bad happens to him.” He ordered.
He smirked looking at her one last time. “Time to come home.”
