Chapter 3 Cage made of gold
“Nice to meet you, Mrs Sullivan.” I said, trying to remain indifferent.
“Come in, take a seat. Lunch is nearly ready. Till then we can have a little chat.”
I nodded. She led me to a spacious and beautiful living room, and she motioned to me to sit down.
She sat opposite me, and soon a young girl in uniform came in to serve tea.
“The first thing we are going to do is I’m going to take you to the surgery after lunch. I am sorry you have to go through this procedure, but this is a rule for our family. Other than that, I thought that would make you happy to take part in the organisation of the last few things of the wedding.”
I looked at her, and I only hoped that I could hide my emotions. What could I say to that? I always imagined that at my wedding every single thing was going to be chosen by me and my fiance. How could I be happy with that? I swallowed.
“Thank you Mrs. Sullivan, you are very kind.”
“I know, darling. You are a bit confused, and maybe you feel uncomfortable, but I think you’ll be fine. You are a beautiful young girl. I’m sure Gideon will find the time spent with you pleasurable.”
I nodded again. So his name was Gideon.
“Your wedding is scheduled for the weekend. So we have four days. I’ll take you to try your wedding dress on. It is mesmerising, I can tell, and now that I saw you in person, I’m sure you’ll be in the headlines of the news after the wedding. You’ll look amazing with Gideon.”
“Thank you.”
I said, but I was shouting inside. She discussed this situation like the most natural thing on Earth. I was sure she wanted to brag about this wedding. Probably she had those rich friends who took these kinds of things like a competition.
At that moment, the same girl came in, and I was more than surprised when she motioned only to say the lunch was served. Mrs. Sullivan looked at her watch and smiled at me.
“We have to wait a few minutes, darling. Spencer should be back soon.”
She did not say who he was, but I guessed he would be my buyer, my father-in-law.
Approximately two minutes passed when a man stepped into the living room.
I stood up nervously. He had a nice, muscular body. He has got black hair and brown eyes. Only his face showed he was around fifty. He smiled at me. He put his palms on my shoulder and gave me two kisses on my cheeks. That surprised me.
“Welcome Alice. Let me have a look at you.”
He literally checked me from every side and ended up investigating my eyes.
“Nice body, delicate shapes, beautiful face, and mesmerising grey eyes. I can tell my son is lucky. You look more beautiful than in the pictures.”
“Thank you.” I said.
“Are you ready for lunch?”
Mrs. Sullivan asked him, and he nodded with a smile. We went to the dining room.
The lunch was not quiet. They talked to each other and to me a lot, but none of them asked me anything .
They did not care about me. I felt like a pet or something. They say how cute and nice it is, but they do not ask if it’s happy or comfortable. Unless it’s obedient, quiet and does no damage, they are just happy to have it in the house.
After we finished lunch, Mrs. Sullivan smiled at me.
“Lilly is going to show you your room, darling. Your luggage is in there. Put on a lighter dress. You can find some dresses in the wardrobe. I’ll come and get you in a half an hour to take you to the doctor. You’ll stay here with us till the wedding.”
“Thank you, Mrs. Sullivan.”
I nodded, and the servant girl led me upstairs. It was a long walk. She opened the door and led me in with a smile.
I could not believe my eyes. It looked more like an apartment than a room. The living room was large and luxurious. It was all white. It had a balcony which looked at the garden. There was an enormous pool there.
I went into the bathroom. It was attractive and spacious as well. I sighed. It was like a cage made of gold.
When I opened the wardrobe, there were various dresses. They were nice. I chose a black one. That could mirror my emotions, I thought.
When I watched myself in the mirror, I felt the urge to take a picture and send it to Lucas. But I remembered suddenly. To contact him was not allowed. Not him and nor my parents. That was the rule.
I felt the tears in my eyes again when I heard knocking. Mrs. Sullivan stepped in and she checked my outfit. She nodded happily.
“My daughter-in-law is not just beautiful, but she has a sense of fashion. I like that.”
Then she motioned me to go with her. I swallowed, and I followed her.
She led me down, and we went to another car. That was a new, black Jaguar. We sat in, and she drove me somewhere.
As I had never been to Los Angeles, everything was new to me.
She parked the car at a clinic. It was a private one, and I guessed it was posh too. She led me in. As soon as the receptionist saw her, she greeted her friendly, ignoring me.
She said we have to wait, and that made Mrs. Sullivan angry. She leaned closer to her and whispered something in her ear. The receptionist looked terrified for a second, then she smiled as she made a phone call. After she hung up, she told us we could go in immediately.
Mrs. Sullivan held my hand with a satisfied smile and led me in.
The doctor greeted her like a friend, like they know each other.
She led me into a corner, which was covered like a changing room. She said, because I had a skirt on, I only need to take my underwear off. I did what she said, and then she led me out.
They laid me on the examination bed. Thinking about what is about to happen made me scared. I did not know how it felt. I have never been with anyone. No one ever touched me there. I closed my eyes and constricted my teeth when the doctor approached my private part.
