Chapter 3 How does it feel?
Felicia felt that yesterday they had already crossed certain boundaries, so at this point there shouldn’t be an issue with getting in the car.
Without overthinking it, she opened the door on the other side and got in.
The car quickly started again.
Felicia saw that Frederick still held documents in his hand, looking fully focused.
She tried to minimize her presence and not disturb the man.
But unexpectedly, the man took the initiative to speak, "Are you in need of money?"
She was momentarily stunned and didn't see any reason to hide, so she replied, "Yes, I am!"
"How much do you need?"
"Over $70,000."
The man pulled out a checkbook and wrote a string of numbers on it before handing it to her.
Felicia looked at the $150,000written on it, hesitated for a moment, and then pushed the check back.
"The virtuous woman does not eat the bread of idleness."
Apart from last night, they had no other connection.
She didn't believe that what happened last night was a reason for her to take his money.
What was the difference between her and those women outside who sold themselves for sex?
The man seemed surprised by her refusal, staring at the check for several seconds before finally taking it back.
Felicia then asked, "Do you know any ways to make money quickly?"
And then she saw Frederick glance at her again, with a faint hint of cold mockery in his eyes.
"All those methods are recorded in the criminal law book. Do you need me to lend you a copy to flip through?"
Felicia Dodson smirked, "No thank you."
If she was going to prison, then her mother's medical expenses would become even more problematic.
Just as Felicia was starting to regret rejecting the $150,000 earlier, her car companion suddenly asked, "Would you like me to introduce you to a part-time job?"
"Sure, but I work at the hospital from Monday to Friday, along with required overtime. Is there a part-time job that's more flexible with timing?"
"Report to Trendy Bar this evening," Frederick said.
Night had fallen at the Trendy Bar, which is one of the favorite recreational spots of New Port's second-generation rich.
"Brother Fred, how did it feel to be held by your nephew's fiancée last night?"
Frederick Blevins' friend, Royce Howell, dressed in a floral shirt and fluorescent yellow suit, was sitting with him, drinking and chatting.
Frederick Blevins knew that Royce was referring to Felicia. He took a sip of his drink and said, "They’ve already broken off the engagement, so she can't be called a fiancée."
"True. However, without the backing of the prestigious Mr. Nicholson and Mrs. Nicholson’s identities, it doesn't matter how beautiful Felicia’s face is. What's more important is her ample chest and curvaceous figure. That's not a good thing. There must be someone eager to get their hands on this delicate flower."
Royce, also part of the inner circle, was well aware of many things.
When it came to the phrase "someone eager," Royce purposefully glanced at the adam's apple of Frederick, which still had obvious bite marks.
Yesterday, it was his setup that made Frederick appear at Trendy Bar.
Frederick left the Trendy Bar with Felicia, hugging him while another beauty witnessed the entire process.
They were both adults, and one could easily imagine what would happen when they left the bar hugging each other.
However, even Royce hadn't expected that under the relationship between Frederick and Darrin, he would become the first one to pluck this flower.
Frederick ignored him, but Royce became even more curious.
"She seems so enchanting, doesn't she?"
"Extremely dull," Frederick said as he swirled his drink, his dark gaze fixated on the swirling liquid in the cup, lost in thought.
With Royce’s question, Frederick was brought back to the scene of last night, when she trembled in pain but clenched her teeth.
The air seemed to suddenly thin, and Frederick discreetly loosened his collar a bit.
"Do you still want her even though she's plain? Are you just clueless? How about me..." Royce was very open-minded when it came to relationships between men and women.
He had seen Felicia at a dinner party before, wearing a sky-blue dress that covered her arms and legs, but the fitted dress accentuated her alluring curves, making him particularly eager to pursue her.
However, at the time, Darrin was fiercely protective of her.
Now that the Dodsons had finally left, and the Nicholsons had distanced themselves from the Dodsons, he was ready to make his move.
But Frederick suddenly interrupted him, saying, "Save it for next time, let's talk later."
"You still want to pursue Felicia Dodson next time? If Kendra finds out about this, you will regret it." Royce was urgently worried.
Kendra was the fiancée chosen for Frederick by the He family.
Frederick didn't refuse the choice either, and takes her to official events.
Everyone thought that Frederick and Kendra were set in stone, including Royce.
As for his night with Felicia, Royce only saw it as a romantic encounter.
In his eyes, it was normal for men to have such experiences.
What was abnormal was when things got complicated afterwards, which could potentially lead to accidents.
Kendra was a rare good girl, with a pure family background and a kind and innocent nature. In addition to her proficiency in music, chess, calligraphy, and painting, she was also an excellent doctor.
In Royce’s eyes, a girl like her was hard to find these days.
If Frederick missed out on her, he would definitely regret it for a lifetime.
"If she knows, so what? It has nothing to do with me."
Before Royce had a chance to react to this statement, he caught a glimpse of Felicia at another table.
"Damn, just one look and she electrifies me. Who wouldn't want to have her?" Royce exclaimed.
Frederick Blevins furrowed his brows and followed his gaze, only to see that mesmerizing figure.
