Chapter 6 Treating it like a transaction?
Beth Holloway, who is also an intern and her best friend, stuffed a sandwich into her hand.
"Why are you so late today?"
"I went to bed late last night, so I couldn't get up in the morning."
After putting on her white coat, Felicia opened the sandwich packaging and started eating.
However, before she could even take a few bites, she saw Beth looking at her with a mischievous smile.
"You went to bed late last night? Did you do something with your man?."
Even though Beth didn't finish her sentence, Felicia could guess what she meant.
"How could I?"
Thinking of the scenes of Frederick on top of her, Felicia’s complexion became somewhat unnatural.
"Are you lying to me? Just by looking at you now, it's obvious that you've been pampered by a man. Look at the marks below your neckline..."
Beth is an expert in this area.
Felicia quickly pulled up her white coat collar. "Hmm."
"How are Darrin’s skills? They must be good, judging from how well you've been fed."
When Beth mentioned the name "Darrin," Felicia’s heart felt like it was being pricked by a needle.
No visible wounds, but the pain went deep into her bones.
She decided to be straightforward with Beth: "Beth, it wasn't him last night."
"Not him? Felicia, you need to understand the seriousness of this matter. If Darrin finds out, it will affect your future if you want to marry into the Nicholson’s family."
Before Felicia could discuss with Beth the serious consequences of Darrin Nicholson's actions, Felicia interrupted her.
"Beth, even if it was him, there is no possibility for me and him anymore."
"Why?"
Felicia decided to tell Beth about the past few days, including Darrin divorcing her and finding out about his infidelity.
This immediately took away Beth’s gossiping mood, and she harshly scolded the unfaithful man before comforting Felicia.
"Felicia, there's no need to be sad over a scumbag. The next one will be better. Look at the man from last night, he seems to make you happy."
"Yes, find a new man and live a fulfilling life again." Felicia smiled.
"Yes, that's the way you should think. Besides, the ratio of men to women in our country is seriously imbalanced, there is no shortage of scumbags now."
As for the man who was with Felicia last night, Beth wasn't really concerned anymore, as long as it made Felicia happy.
After increasing Felicia’s morale, the two of them returned to their busy work in the emergency room. Their chaotic work continued until noon. Felicia finally had a chance to call Mack McKenzie during lunchtime. ,.
Mack McKenzie was wearing a black suit, the typical attire of a professional male in the workplace.
From their quick phone conversation to sitting in a nearby cafe signing a contract, Felicia could count the number of words Mack McKenzie had said on one hand.
The longest thing he said was, "Just sign here and provide your bank account number. The commission from the cocktail sold at Trendy Bar will be yours."
Mack worked quite efficiently. In no time Felicia was finished signing the contract and was back at work in the duty room. Felicia was in a daze.
It wasn't until Beth tried to get her caught up on the latest gossip that she snapped back to reality.
"Felicia, wasn't that person the head of the New Port's Four Major Houses, the McKenzie’s? How did you end up with him?"
