Chapter 6

POV ALISSON COOPER

As the car sped through the traffic I wondered what had happened minutes ago. Kevin Miller, I understand, owns several businesses, not to mention casinos and hotels under his name. I couldn't believe I slept on his property. I don't remember the night before very well, the memories are still distorted but thank God nothing happened. Furthermore, I'm frustrated and regret going to that nightclub with Debbie, she promised me she would stand by me, she should have known I wouldn't be able to fulfill something so simple, I was foolish to let her persuade me and take me away from where I was protected.

Nightclubbing is not for me, it's an environment that I don't see myself in, although Mr. Miller said those words not to go out at night as orders, I take it as advice, he who saved me and in the circumstances, I was in took me to his house, he did a genuine act, I hope that this Denver guy is by then in jail.

"We're here miss." the driver warned.

I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at the car window, I was in front of my house, I don't remember saying the address but I quickly got out of the vehicle and thanked the driver. After the vehicle drove away I went up the stairs and opened the door, as soon as I entered Mrs. Bonnie who was on the couch turned her eyes away from the television and faced me.

"Miss where were you?" she asked getting up from the couch.

"I went out last night."

I decided to hide what happened, I didn't want to make her worried or touch that subject. When she heard my words her eyes shone, and her mouth was open showing she was shocked by what she said.

"Are you..."

"Stay there, don't move a muscle!"

Startled by her unexpected attitude I stayed where I was, suddenly she emerged with a camera in hand and pointed it at me.

"Your first night out girl, say X!"

I pouted and let her take the picture, I wasn't in the mood but I wouldn't spoil her temporary happiness. Ms. Bonnie always encouraged me to be like other young people my age, go out to clubs, drink, fuck, but I don't fit into that kind of life, I like it the way I am, I don't see myself in clubs drunk like the night before, that was a lesson for me, one I dare not repeat.

"When did you arrive?" I asked.

"A few minutes ago, I thought I'd find you asleep as usual, but I was wrong." she smiled mischievously.

Mrs. Bonnie walked to the fridge and put the photo in front of the door, I was embarrassed to arrive in the state I am, disheveled, without panties, and with shoes in my hands.

"I apologize for arriving like this."

"You don't have to apologize, don't be silly girl." she approaches me and takes my hands. "If I was your age I would go out every night and come home with a different man."

"But you are still very young, you can do that."

"I'm not as young as I appear to be."

Mrs. Bonnie always says those words to me, she wishes she had followed them, but she let herself be overwhelmed by grief after her husband died.

"How was the cruise?" I asked changing the subject.

"My friend and I gave up the cruise, went to a hotel, and from there we arranged to go to a nightclub, I even have a date."

We talked for several minutes until I went to the bedroom and took a shower, Ms. Bonnie was an angel, I feel lucky to have her in my life now. After the bath I put Debbie's dress in the wash, put on some comfortable clothes, and spent the rest of the day lying down sleeping.

The next morning the first rays of sunlight lit up my face, another week was beginning. I get out of bed still sleepy and go to the bathroom, do my hygiene, and take a shower. While I was doing it I remembered that man, Kevin Miller, something about him caught my attention, besides his intriguing beauty and full of mystery, he caused me fear and at the same time made me curious. I promised his son that I would see him again, but something tells me that I shouldn't do that, he is just a child and won't remember me, I think.

After the shower I put on my work uniform and left the room, the smell of freshly brewed coffee soon invaded my nose, I approached the kitchen and quickly stopped as I faced Debbie sitting in a chair talking to Madam Bonnie.

"Good morning Alisson." she greets me as soon as she sees me.

"Hi miss, sit here, I'll serve you." Ms. Bonnie pointed to an empty chair.

As we all ate together in deafening silence, Debbie made a noise with her throat and spoke:

"Alisson, I..."

"We'll talk later." I cut her off as I finished eating.

Miss Bonnie realized something was wrong, but decided to keep quiet, she knew she would tell at some point. After we finished breakfast we said our goodbyes and went downstairs, near her car I stopped brutally and held out her bag where her heels and dress were.

"What..."

"What happened to you?" I asked frustrated.

"Alisson, please get in the car, we'll talk about this later, okay?"

"No, let's talk now! No, we have nothing to talk about."

"Please..."

"You left me alone at the club, while I was accompanied by an abuser, who got me drunk and tried to rape me!"

She stares at me in amazement, unable to believe what I just said, her mouth opening and closing without being able to say anything.

"That only didn't happen because a very good-hearted man helped me."

"Alisson, I..."

"You knew it was my first time in a nightclub, I never drank, at least you knew drinks could be sweet, you promised to be by my side."

"I'm sorry baby, I never wanted this to happen, I'm sorry for that."

"Don't be!"

I turned my body and started walking in the opposite direction from where she was standing by her car.

"Aren't you going with me to work?"

"No!" I yelled.

"Alisson come back here!"

"I'm taking the bus!"
