Chapter 5
ROSEANA
My body collided with the other dancing bodies in the club. Because I couldn't see what I was stepping on, I almost tripped multiple times. Only the club's naughty lights illuminate the surroundings, not to mention the drunks dancing on the dance floor.
My gaze was only on his broad back, trying not to lose sight of him because I would have had a hard time getting out of the crowd if I didn't follow him. People are giving him space and allowing him to pass. The crowd parted to allow him to pass. It's as if he possesses the immense authority that people fear here.
When we exited the dance floor, I felt relieved. I thought I was going to die there. There are a lot of people on the dance floor, and if my knees are very bad, I might be trampled.
While following him, I fixed my unkempt hair behind my ears. I almost ran to catch up with him, but I still couldn't walk beside him. My legs are too short to keep up with his long legs. He seemed to have forgotten that he was with someone, and that someone happened to be me.
We were near the club's exit when the bouncer noticed me. The big guy was staring at me. I also noticed him gazing at me from head to toe. He was watching my every move.
"Ma'am?"
I was taken aback when he blocked my path with his body. He gave me an authoritative look. I had to look up at him to see his face because he's so tall. He's a touch taller than the man who saved me. What was his name again? I forgot to ask what his name was.
I made a mental note to ask him what his name was later.
I returned my gaze to the bouncer who had stopped me. As he looks down on me, his brows knit.
"Excuse me." I excused myself, attempting to pass, but he simply blocked his body from the door.
"Can I see your identification, ma'am?" he inquired sternly and without a grin.
"Ahm, I don't have my identification with me," I explained, "but I was with the man who came out before me." I was about to point to the man I was with earlier, but I couldn't find him. "Where could he have gone?" I smiled at the bouncer and tried to pass by him, but he grabbed my arms. I was surprised when he touched me without my permission. My heart pounded.
"You're not a familiar face, and you didn't go through security earlier, right? Because if you did, you can't enter without identification."
"No, no, no, I was with that man when I came in, I swear," I explained.
"You think you can fool me with that?" "Fine, what is the name of the man with you?"
I remained silent in response to the bouncer's question because I didn't know what to say. What should I say when that man never told me his name, and I don't know him, so what would I tell this man?
I can't lie because I know this person won't trust me regardless.
"I'm not sure what his name is. But I promise I'm with him. That man I'm following is my friend."
The man sighed, spoke into his headset, and turned back to face me.
"I'm sorry, Ma'am, but you have to go with me," he continued, and I was about to object when he pulled me away.
"Mister, no! Let go of me!" I attempted but failed to break his grip on me.
"What are you doing?" The arrogant and angry voice of the man who had saved me made the bouncer pause.
I searched for him, and when I saw him, I looked at him pleadingly. He is my only hope, and this bouncer doesn't believe what I said.
The bouncer said, "Mister Salvestre..." with a little bend of his head.
Salvestre... Why does that name sound so familiar to me? I feel like I've heard it before, but I'm not sure where or when.
Salvestre only stared at him.
"This lady sneaked into the club. She did not enter through the front entrance. "We'll thoroughly investigate her and ensure that everyone who enters goes through security," the bouncer remarked firmly once more.
My brows knitted together. "Sir, didn't you hear what I said earlier? I am with him! You can even ask him to verify." I bravely cut him off.
The bouncer gave me a hard stare. If he can tape my mouth shut to keep me quiet, I bet he'll do it. I tried to break his hold on my wrist, but he wouldn't let go.
"Touch my wife for a few more seconds, and I'll cut your hand in half," Salvestre remarked matter-of-factly.
Because of what he said, I was unable to react immediately. Even the bouncer remained silent. His expression was one of surprise. He even looked at me as the knowledge dawned on him. He hastily let go of my hand as if his skin would burn if it was linked to mine for too long.
I still hadn't recovered from the shock when Salvestre dragged me out of the club. Despite my horror, I let him drag me.
He drove away from that location as soon as we got into his car. I didn't dare to make a sound. He didn't have to shout for me to know he was angry, and I have to confess, he's terrifying when he's angry.
We hadn't been in the car long when it suddenly stopped. He took out his keys, exited, and shut his door. I saw him stroll around the back of the car and reappear next to my door. When he knocked on my door, I jumped in my seat.
"Oh, right!" I hurriedly unbuckled my seatbelt and opened the door. My eyes almost popped out as my forehead met his chest, not because I was surprised, though I was, but because my skull ached more when it impacted his chest. My head began to shake.
"Be careful," he grumbled. He gripped my shoulder to keep me still.
"Let's go." He said.
When I opened my eyes, I noticed we were at a government building. Because it was nearly midnight, no one else could be seen. What exactly are we doing here? Don't tell me we're getting married right now.
I pursued him and caught his hand, causing him to stop walking. He turned to face me, his black eyes fixed on me. His brows are knotted together.
"What exactly are we doing here?" I asked.
"Didn't you agree to marry me?" I nodded to his question. "I don't have any more time to put off this marriage; after all, it's just a civil wedding."
"But it's now midnight. I don't think the judge is here; he's probably sleeping by now," I added, my hand motioning around so he could understand what I was saying.
"I called him before we came here," he continued, shaking his head, then looking at my hand, which was grasping his pinky finger.
"Oh, sorry." I let go of his hand and walked inside the municipality first.
When we arrived at the judge's office on the second floor, we were greeted by a man wearing a black long sleeve, who promptly greeted us.
The man informed Salvestre, "Judge Bernal is waiting in his office, Sir." The latter did not appear to hear anything and went directly into the Judge's office. I followed him. The Judge was ready to congratulate him when he lifted his hand to tell the man to begin the ceremony.
Our civil wedding was short and sweet. I didn't understand anything the Judge said. His words appear to float away in the breeze.
I never imagined that one day I'd be married to someone I'd never met. But, at the very least, I'm not married to Cedrick.
When the judge remarked, "Mr. Damon Salvestre, you may now kiss your bride," my thoughts were stirred, and my chest rumbled with nervousness.
He had me face him before I could even respond, and now I'm facing him in the eyes while he looks at me.
"Do we really need to kiss?" I asked softly. I asked in hushed tones, cautious not to let others hear; I covertly peeked inside the room, then returned his gaze.
His lips curled upward. He leaned down on me, and I closed my eyes, expecting him to kiss me. As I waited for his kiss, I fiddled with my fingers, my heart beating rapidly.
"Yes."
When I heard his gruff voice in my ear, his scent calming my nostrils, and his warm breath giving me shivers, I almost leaped. I quickly opened my eyes. When I realized what I had done, my eyes practically jumped out of their sockets. The shame I feel makes my entire face red. I want to be swallowed by the floor.
I heard him chuckling.
I was preoccupied with blaming myself for the shame I had caused when he carefully leaned down and peered at my face. The proximity of our faces almost made me squint; his nose touched mine. When he finally closes the gap between our faces, I'm still reeling from the shock. His gentle lips collided with mine.
My eyelids felt heavy. I closed my eyes and threw my arms around his neck, savoring our first kiss as husband and wife.
The seductive action of his lips took my attention away from our surroundings. I went insane because people were seeing us. I had forgotten about the shame I had felt earlier.
I have no idea how long we kissed. His tongue is inside my mouth, moving and living in every corner. He's sucking both my lips and my strength away.
"Hmmm.”
A sensual sigh escaped my lips when he suddenly bit my lower lip.
It felt like cold water being thrown at me once I realized what I had just done.
Jesus Christ!
