Chapter I
Chapter I
Seeing this strange person in the door way was shocking to the point were I went on the defensive. Not knowing if this person was a friend or an enemy set me on edge. They had yet to move or say anything so I asked again,”Who the Hell are you? And why are you here? My patience is thin lady.” My body was weak so I had to rely on my spirit energy to keep me up which was low at the moment.
The woman had dropped her bags slowly stepped forward tears streaming down her face. Her hands up she calmed herself and said, “ I'm not going to hurt you. Your in our childhood house and you have been in a comatose state for 17 years. I know that's a lot, but I need you to stay calm. I'm not even sure how your standing your limbs should be in atrophy right now. Your shaking here sit in the chair before you fall.” She Reached for my arms and helped me to a chair. The concerned look in her eyes seemed genuine so I let her help me into the chair.
Blonde hair blue eyes and body that could stop a truck she looked well cared for. While I look like I've been scraping by for my last meal. Taking a deep breath I said, “Who are you? What happened? Why have I been in a coma for so long? I don't even remember what happened. Wait are you my cousin Kimmi?” The woman nodded yes, smiling with tears in her eyes. “Yeah, honey I'm your cousin. I'm not sure what happened. Mom knows what happened, but never talked to me about it. I asked a million times, but she wouldn't say anything or change the subject. I'm so glad you woke up I thought you would die like that, but I knew, I knew you were a fighter you always have been. Are you feeling ok? Do you need anything? Hungry? I can make some soup,” she went to make food, but I interrupted her. “No that's okay. I'm not quite ready for food yet. You can leave me the soup for later. I'm feeling a little nauseous.”
Hearing that I have been out for the last 17 years doesn't sit well with me. I had a trust fund from my parents who were advanced scientist for the government. They retired and moved to Northern California when I was 2 years old. I only know this because the human's memories that I have tell me this. Her Aunt was supposed to be taking care of her and her cousin was like her sister. So what happened to this person before I stepped into it? The memories were still hazy so it was hard to figure out what happened. So I played it cool so that this person would leave and I could figure out what the actually happened.
Kimmi made the soup and left it on the stove and a bowl in the microwave. “Thanks when my stomach feels up to food I'll try eating it.” I said holding her hand over the table. “Are you sure you'll be okay? I was planning to stay the night anyway. Your regular nurse called in sick so I volunteered to come and keep you company,” she said.
“That's alright you don't have to stay you gave me that “smartphone” and showed me how to make a call. I just want to sit in my own skin for a bit by myself. I'll keep the phone close if I need you or if there's a problem. Plus this heart monitor on my wrist lets me know when I'm over doing it. I want to get better so I promise to take it slow,” I said looking over at her feeling relaxed. “Please don't tell Aunt Mimi I woke up. I'm still trying to get myself together and you know how she can be over dramatic sometimes. Give me a month if you can, I don't feel so out of sorts when I see her, OK?” asking her, pleading with my eyes for her to understand.
She sighed and nodded yes. “Okay if that's what you want I'll give you your space. But you have to call me if you need anything. You can't walk anywhere yet so if you want something specific, just let me know and I'll get it for you. I might not be here right away, but I will bring it to you, Okay?” “Yes, that's fine I'll let you know, I promise.” I said giving her a hug. She helped me into bed again and went about tidying up before she left. I waited 20 minutes before getting back up again. Focusing my energy into my muscles to repair them faster was a good idea. I don't feel so off balance anymore. I know the rules that were placed on me for my punishment, but something felt different this time. Reaching for my demon energy in what seemed like forever I didn't feel a backlash for trying and focused more on the energy.
Feeling confident that I hadn't been pushed back I slowly focus the energy into my body. It wanted to flow through me faster than I was letting it, but I knew it could hurt this human body if I didn't take it slow. Steadily it flowed into me my limbs started to fill in and bones started to feel denser. The very being of me filled up just enough to recover a good amount of strength, and now I need to work on my stamina. Pulling back the energy, refocusing it back inside, I take a deep breath and don't feel winded. Relief setting in I set about making a plan of action. I must have served my time to now have access to my power. Now to find out what happened to this human and why it took 17 years for her to wake up.
