Chapter 4

Lisa managed to escape from the werewolves, and they didn't dare to stop her. After successfully leaving the forbidden forest area, Lisa returned to her foster parent's house beneath the mountain slope. She ran breathlessly through the dark woods. Upon reaching home, no one was waiting for her or showing concern because no one cared about her.

Entering her room, the pain from her injuries made it hard for Lisa to sleep.

"Luccane, a werewolf?" mumbled Lisa.

Gradually, Lisa fell asleep, hoping that the events from earlier were just a dream.

Lisa put on her school uniform the next day and was about to leave. Nobody asked about Lisa's whereabouts, and suddenly her stepmother slapped her.

"Where's my money? Did you steal it?" her stepmother questioned.

"I don't know," replied Lisa.

"You're lying!"

Her stepmother continued hitting her and even pressed a hot iron against Lisa's leg. Lisa moved away and felt her leg burning.

"Now, go to the city and find money immediately!" her stepmother demanded.

Lisa grabbed her bag and ran out of the house. Why did her life always involve suffering? Nobody cared about her; all they did was inflict pain on her.

She ran past the villagers' plantations, not heading to school but towards a spring on the mountain slope. Usually, Lisa went there to release her sadness. After an hour and a half of walking, Lisa removed her school uniform, plunged into the spring, and swam naked.

Her body was covered in wounds, and the water caused immense pain to her. Everyone inflicted both emotional and physical wounds on her.

At the same time, a pair of blue eyes observed her from a distance. Luccane watched the girl bathing in the waterfall, where werewolves usually collected water. Even from afar, he could see all the scars on his potential mate's body.

Lisa wiped her body with the water, and Luccane witnessed the miraculous sight of her wounds slowly healing. It turned out that the elf race still existed and lived on Earth. Suddenly, Lisa turned to face Luccane, surprised and quickly covering her chest with her hands.

"Luccane?"

Luccane could run as fast as lightning, and he stood before Lisa in the blink of an eye.

"Elf girl, I told you not to reveal yourself to me," Luccane said.

"This place is far from your forest home. You're the one in human territory," Lisa replied.

"Do you forget? I am also human, albeit only half, but I still carry human genes," Luccane answered.

Lisa rolled her eyes in annoyance, confused because her clothes were on the riverbank, and she couldn't have moved from the clear river.

"Do you need those? Get them yourself!" Luccane said.

Lisa didn't want to bother and walked to the shore, pretending to ignore him completely. The closer she got to the edge, the more visible her body's scars became, and after retrieving her clothes, she quickly put them on.

"You are very worthy of being a Luna. You are exceptional in healing wounds, and my people will be safe if you become their queen," Luccane said.

"Find another woman!"

"I only want you."

"I don't want to! Please don't force me!"

Lisa managed to distance herself from Luccane, running until she saw several ruffians from a nearby village approaching and noticing the beautiful Lisa. The men approached and wanted to take Lisa, but she resisted.

For some reason, this place became uncomfortable and filled with wicked people.

As she ran, Lisa stumbled and couldn't get up. The men approached her, drawn to her body.

"Where are you going? Come with us!"

"I don't want to!"

Luccane came to rescue Lisa and quickly fought off the men. After they left, Luccane helped Lisa stand up.

"Where's your home? Let me take you there!"

"I don't have a home to return to. My family hates me, and my friends hate me too," Lisa said.

"Come with me! You will become a queen for the werewolves, and you will be respected there," Luccane said.

"I'm only 18 years old," Lisa replied.

"You are of age and can give me offspring," Luccane said.

Lisa shook her head. "Sorry, I'd rather live in the harsh world of humans than live with werewolves."

Lucanne didn't want to force Lisa this time, so he let her go.

"Come to the forbidden forest if you change your mind!" said Lucanne.

Lisa didn't want to listen and ran away from there. She hoped this would be the last time she encountered that strange man.

After arriving at home, Lisa's father was already there. He was a drunkard and often beat Lisa.

Lisa just passed by him until her father suddenly hit her from behind.

"You cursed child! Just die! You refused to sign the sale of your mother's land. Your mother is dead, and that land should be mine, not yours! Your damn mother gave it to you instead," said Lisa's father.

"Father, go ahead and beat me! Even if I die, I won't sell my mother's inheritance," said Lisa.

Her father beat her mercilessly until Lisa was left weak, lying on the floor.

Mother, I wish to join you. Lisa's heart was filled with despair.

Night came.

Lisa didn't receive any food from her family, so she locked herself in her room, contemplating Lucanne's offer to become his mate, the werewolf's mate. If she accepted the offer, Lisa would leave this wretched family and be respected by the werewolf community.

After much thought, Lisa packed all her belongings and escaped through the window. She was heading to the forbidden forest to meet Lucanne. This was the right decision.

After more than an hour in the darkness of the night, she arrived at the forbidden forest, where even humans wouldn't dare to venture at night. Lisa searched for the werewolves' location, but after half an hour, she still couldn't find them.

"I'm sure they're around here," Lisa said.

Suddenly, the sound of wolf howls reached her ears. Lisa looked for the source, and not far away, she spotted the pitch-black wolf that had tried to attack her before. Lisa ran, but the wolf was faster.

"Lucanne! Lucanne!" Lisa cried out, calling the alpha's name.

Lisa stumbled over a stone, and the wolf was about to pounce on her when another wolf arrived. It was Lucanne. The black wolf left, and Lisa hugged Lucanne, still in wolf form.

"I'm glad you came," said Lisa.

Lisa let go of the hug, and the wolf slowly transformed into a human form.

"My Luna," said Lucanne.

"I want to go with you; I no longer want to stay with those wicked humans," replied Lisa.

"I already knew you would come back here. Welcome, my Luna," said Lucanne.
