Chapter 2

"A man dressed in a black coat, 12 o'clock."

When Emelyn warned me, I was casually inspecting my surroundings. I noticed a man clothed in black and wearing a mask. I believed he was arranging something for today's feast based on his activities. The Royal Protectors and Guards were on standby to defend the Royal Family.

The former King and Luna, as well as the Alpha King's brother Prince Draco and sister Princess Diana, will come. On the King's birthday, they used to return home. As a result, nearly all of the Green Moon Pack members want to come here to see the meeting of Alvinia's most powerful family.

In the western world, Alvinia is a vast continent. It's broken into four sections. Dwarfs and healers reside in the Gardenia. The Fire Lake serves as the Vampires' castle. Skyrim is the home of witches and other creatures with basic elemental powers, and it is located in the mountain region where the clouds are so low that you can almost reach the sky. I've been there before, and the place has always fascinated me. The Crescent Capital, where werewolves live, is the final stop.

"And now, the most awaited of all..." I didn't take my gaze away from the man when the banquet host spoke on stage. "Witches, werewolves, healers, and other creatures!" The Royal Family's reunion is the moment we've all been waiting for!"

After hearing the declaration, I noticed the man leave. I reached for the dagger in my holster and began walking to follow him, assuming he would invite his companions to cause trouble.

"Where are you going, Chandra?!" Through the headset, I could hear Emelyn's concern.

"I'll follow him."

“What?! No! Just keep an eye on the King. "Someone has been assigned to do that," she persisted, but I ignored her. I don't doubt our colleagues, but I think I'll capture him personally.

“Relax. Emelyn, I've got this-" I came to a halt as I unexpectedly detected a coffee mint scent. It has a strong scent. When I discovered why, my eyes flew out of their sockets.

Don't tell me you're going to give me another mate, Moon Goddess. Gosh! I've only been accepting Phoenix's rejection for two days!

I looked around with caution. Because I was taken aback by the enlightenment, I forgot about my purpose to pursue the man. My entire body shuddered as my brain struggled to comprehend what was going on.

Everyone was having a terrific time, and the atmosphere was lively. Their lips were painted with grins, but mine was the inverse. Until my sight was drawn forward.

My gaze was drawn to the attractive man from a distance. His brow furrowed, and his eyes darted around, as if he was looking for someone. He raised his head abruptly, and his kind eyes locked with mine. My lips was half-open as my heart pounded loudly.

It can't be...

I stepped away, overwhelmed and caught off guard, unaware to the person behind me. I ran into a woman and dropped the tray of wine she was holding, drawing everyone's attention, including his.

The man's face was flushed with surprise. When he observed that I was taking a deliberate stealth step backward, his brows furrowed in a grimace, as if offended.

I was about to sprint, but he was even faster in the air ahead of me. I could see the darkness in his eyes. He clinched his jaw, and I could tell he was irritated for reasons I didn't understand.

"Where are you going, lady?"

I looked down at my arm, which he was clutching. I felt electricity discharged from my body when our skins connected. It shot chills up my spine. The sensations of connection and spark were all too familiar. Not because I was terrified of him, but because of what was about to happen, I gasped.

Why is my second mate the Alpha King?

Werewolves know their partner as soon as they see him or her. When they catch their mate's unique scent, their wolf goes berserk, as I am experiencing. Never in my wildest thoughts did I picture myself as his mate.

"Let go," I protested, recalling that I still had a job.

The corner of his mouth twitched. "Feisty, but not frightening." "Please accompany me."

I was enraged by the way he addressed me, as if I were a servant. I violently wrenched my arm away from his hold.

I could see the puzzlement in everyone's eyes, and their conversation about what was going on did not escape my notice. I didn't care about them as long as I had to be stuck in order to get the man I was after. The scenario is already challenging, especially given the Royal Family's attendance.

"No," I said as I moved by him.

When the Royal Guards suddenly blocked my path, I took a step back. I knew he used his thoughts to command his men to keep me from fleeing.

"What's happening, Chan?" Emelyn inquired, concerned, but I did not respond.

I jumped up and kicked them, knocking them out in seconds. When I saw them try to approach and seize me, I moved quickly.

I threw forceful jabs and kicked them all with all my might. Because I am not your average warrior, they were defeated one by one and collapsed senseless on the ground.

The remaining Royal Guards were scared of approaching me, and their eyes were terrified. I wiped the sweat from my brow with my arm before addressing the Alpha again.

"Let me go," I begged, my voice calm.

I was trying not to erupt. He looked me in the eyes before placing his hands into his pocket and sighing heavily.

"Will you come back?"

Because of his query, my gaze was fixed on him. He sounded as if he expected me to give him the answer he wished.

"Do you still want me to come back?" I inquired again.

"I've been waiting for you for nearly half my life," he replied, without blinking an eyelash. You've already figured it out."

"Chandra, the Royal Guards are fighting in the Moon Pack's north!" They require your presence." Emelyn had informed me.

I just nodded and didn't say anything. I'm confident she saw my signal.

"Faster, Chan!"

I turned to face the Alpha King once more. "I'll try..." was all I could say as I dashed away and crept behind the tree.

I let out a deep sigh and summoned my wolf. "Are you prepared to fight?"

"Is he our second mate, Chandra?!" She was bursting at the seams with joy.

My head shot up to the sky to look at the moon. "I'm not sure why the Moon Goddess gave this to me, but we have a fight ahead of us." "Are you pleased with this?"

Why did I even ask such a simple question? I know the answer is yes because I sensed Ruby's excitement.

"What's the harm?" He's as hot as heck!"

I accepted my rage, which ran deep through my veins and drove me to become a ferocious beast. As I morphed into a wolf, my eyes shifted. Ruby is a dark reddish-brown gemstone with red sapphire eyes.

"Oh, don't be such a flirty wolf, Ruby!"

She laughed and poked out her tongue. In turn, I started running north.
