Chapter 5

“Chandra!”

When I saw Emelyn racing towards me, I put down the book I was reading. She was on the phone with whoever was on the other end of the line. When she arrived, she handed it to me. I scowled as I looked down at her outstretched hand.

"What am I going to do with this?" I inquired, perplexed.

She sighed in frustration. "Eat it."

“Tsk!”

"Stella wants to talk to you."

My eyes widened, and I quickly returned the phone to her. Stella and Emelyn are very similar, especially in terms of personality.

"Answer it."

I'm not going to!

I shook my head and narrowed my eyes in apathetic disgust, but she just shrugged and handed it back to me, as if to suggest there was nothing I could do. I couldn't do anything, so I put the phone back in my ear and answered the phone.

“Chan!”

After hearing Stella's high-pitched tone, I pulled the phone away. Her voice was so loud that I almost lost my hearing. How could her husband put up with it?

“What?” I greeted her aggressively, but she ignored it and reacted with a giggle because she was used to it.

"You are a stunning and fortunate lady!" I'm surprised to learn that the Moon Goddess has rewarded you with a very attractive companion!"

Emelyn must have informed her. In that case, I gave her a frightening look. While listening to us, she apologized with a peace sign and awkwardly smiled.

"What is your strategy?" I'd like to meet you and learn more about the two of you. Did you already go through the mating ritual? "Try him out, girl!"

This is what I'm referring to. I don't mind talking to her, but you won't understand if you don't know who she is. I'm not sure why she speaks like this or runs her mouth without a filter. I couldn't recall how I became friends with her off the top of my head.

"Be careful what you say, Stella!" Your hubby might hear you!" I reprimanded her.

Her husband was extremely attached to her. I wasn't sure if Stella had charmed him or not. Max broke the throat of the man he was envious of the previous time he was jealous.

She laughed uproariously. "Oh, he loves my mouth."

My eyes widened in surprise and disbelief at the terrible words she uttered. Emelyn grins and screeches. I couldn't believe I knew these two people.

"Cut it out, Stella, or else I'll hang up!"

"OK, I'll stop now." "Relax, Chan," she said as she stopped me from hanging up. "All right, let's get back to the conversation. "What are your plans?"

I gulped for oxygen, unsure what to do with a worried expression on my face. "I'm not sure. I guess I'll just go with the flow."

"You appeared uninterested. "Do you dislike him?"

I cast a peek towards Emelyn, who was also waiting for my response. I'm sure she's been aching to ask me the same thing but hasn't had the chance.

"It's not that I don't like him, but perhaps I'm just not ready for him yet," I clarified.

"Do you mean you want to turn him down?"

I let out a small sigh. "I really do want to reject him-"

But my mind will not let me...

"I won't let you!"

I was taken aback when I recognized the source of that perilous yell. I turned to face the person standing behind Emelyn and me.

And there he was, standing without a top. He was drenched in sweat since I had heard he was on the search for border crossers. His Beta Leonard, Gamma Finn, and the 10 pack warriors stood beside him. When they glanced at him, I could tell they were terrified.

I was astounded as well. I wasn't finished yet. I was ready to explain to him when I became distracted by his speed. I didn't realize we'd arrived at his room. This is my second visit to his room since I objected to the concept of the two of us sharing a bed.

He shut the door and pushed me up against the wall. I was nervous because I could see the fury in his eyes as well as the wolf's eye color, which was similar to mine.

I winced when he gripped my jaw and pulled me slightly. I could feel the tightness even though it wasn't intense.

"I will never let you reject me." "I didn't wait this long just to squander this opportunity," he grumbled.

"Wait, please let me go!"

His grip on me was firm, and he was already enraged before hearing the remainder of what I had to say.

"Don't even think about it, Chandra Parker! "I'm not going to like you."

I stared him in the eyes. I knew he wouldn't listen to me no matter what I said. He's quite enraged.

I breathed out through my nose. "I won't. I swear."

He gave me a doubtful look, and the fires in his eyes faded away. He slowly released me and handed me to him, his eyes fixed on me. I didn't try to avert his eyes. They could have been afraid if it had been other wolves, but not me. I don't think I'll be afraid of him even if I'm not his mate. I'm not afraid of anything or anyone.

Fear does not exist in someone who has nothing to lose.

"Don't say that again, okay?"

I sat on the bed, agreeing to his wishes. He was leaning against the door, which drew my attention to him. My brow furrowed as I saw he still didn't have a t-shirt on.

"Put on your clothes! "You could catch a cold," I warned him.

He lifted two eyebrows and inclined his head to the side, a mocking and admiring expression on his face.

"Thank you for your concern, honey, but I'm not going down without a fight."

"Suit yourself," I answered casually.

"Do you not like what you see?" What is your preference? "Naked or topless?" He remarked.

“Naked.”

When I heard Ruby's response, my cheeks flushed. She's so brazen!

"What the hell is going on?" Ruby, you're embarrassing!" I chastised.

Deimos gave out a soft chuckle. "Oh, your little wolf wants to see me naked."

"Shut the fuck up!" says the narrator.

"Don't say the F word to me, honey." You might come to regret it."

I stood up and charged at him, completely unaware of his presence. I grabbed the first object I touched on the table and hurled it at him with all my might, but he sensed it and caught it with his palm before it hit him. I tried punching him and kicking him, but he effortlessly avoided both. I was extremely enraged since my blows weren't connecting with him. He was an expert at avoiding. Rather than fighting back, he blocked my punches and quick kicks.

He was distracted for a fraction of a second by the small space between us. I took advantage of his inattention by locking his head in my arms, but he unlocked and twisted our posture. He grabbed my hands and twisted me around, pinning me against the wall, using all of his strength. I struggled in vain, but he was far too powerful for me to overcome. When he drew my waist close to him and grinned lopsidedly, I was struck into stillness.

"I had no idea you were prettier up close..."

"Stop pissing me off, you jerk!" I yelled at him and summoned all my power to break away from his grip by punching him again.

He sneered the entire time, parrying my punches, which infuriated me even more. I examined his movement with each defense of him. And because I'm one of the pack's greatest protectors, I picked up on his fighting style quickly. I changed my counter-thrust and kicked him in the chest without giving any signals.

He flew off the balcony because he didn't see it coming. Because he seemed to appreciate what I was doing, my jaw tightened as I gazed down to where he had landed. My fists were clenched. This haughty King must be taught a lesson! I could see the commotion among the pack members as they stood motionless observing us.

Oh, the madness has only just begun. This Alpha King is trying my patience, and I'm losing it. I'm not going to let him win.

"Then show me what you've got, honey," he teased.

I threw off my jacket and jumped onto the balcony. As demonstrated by the sight in my eyes, I was enraged and anxious to crush him into pieces.

I clenched my teeth. "You'll come to regret this!"

"I want to see you try," he said as he dashed towards the trees.

My fingers were cracked. "Oh, so you want me to go hunting for you?"

"If you can catch me..."
