CHAPTER 4

"Julie," Craig began, his eyes locked onto hers. "What about the deal involving Nina? The one that's coded between us." The CEO asked.

Craig nodded, his gaze unyielding. "Tell me, Julie, how is the progress on that deal?"

Julie gave a wry smile. "I'm actively working on it, and I can assure you that it will help you achieve your aims with Mr. Ralph Thompson."

"Good." Mr. Johnson nodded his head in satisfaction, smiling broadly. "Just keep me abreast. I'll be waiting to play my part. Thank you. You can leave now." Mr. Craig said as he dismissed Julie.

Ralph Thompson was Craig Johnson's rival because Ralph and Craig's companies were the biggest in Lissville City. Craig saw Ralph as a threat to his success in the industrial world, and so he always looked for an opportunity to pull him down.

So they planned to set a trap for Nina and use Nina against Ralph.

Julie smirked as she walked out of Johnson's office down the corridor leading to her office.

The subdued hum of office chatter enveloped her, but Julie seemed to be in her own world, lost in the whirlwind of emotions that surged through her veins. Her mind raced with thoughts of the coded deal, her words to her boss echoing in her ears. She was entrusted with something significant, a secret deal that would lead to Ralph and Nina's separation, but before that, she knew that the deal tended to destroy Raph's reputation if she played her role appropriately.

As she continued down the corridor, her excitement seemed to bubble over, manifesting in the subtle sway of her hips and the rhythmic cadence of her footsteps. The mundane surroundings of the office seemed to fade into the background as her focus remained fixed on the path ahead, her heart a symphony of exhilaration and curiosity.

The sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm, golden glow over the bustling streets. Nina was done with work for the day, so she navigated her car through the city. The thrum of her engine was a steady beat, a rhythm that echoed her racing heart.

Dover Companies, Inc. stood tall and imposing, a bastion of corporate prowess that seemed to exude an air of authority. Nina parked her car in the visitor's lot, her mind a whirlwind of emotions as she walked towards the company building.

With purposeful steps, Nina made her way through the sleek glass doors and into the polished lobby of the company. The receptionist greeted her with a warm smile, and Nina mustered a polite nod in return.

She asked for directions to Charlie's office, her voice steady despite the storm of feelings brewing within her. Charlie had taken up a job with Dover Companies Inc. since he couldn't work at JFliers Company as Ralph's subordinate.

The elevator ride felt like an eternity, each floor passing in slow motion as Nina's mind raced through the myriad of emotions that swirled within her. She replayed the memories of the night spent with Charlie and the thought that Charlie was Ralph.

Finally, the elevator dinged, and the doors slid open to reveal the corridor leading to Charlie's office. Nina's heart pounded in her chest as she marched forward, her resolve unwavering. She reached his office door, hesitating for only a moment before swiping her visitor badge and entering the room.

The office was meticulously organized, with every detail reflecting the precision of the work that took place within its walls. But Nina's gaze was focused solely on the figure seated behind the sleek desk—Charlie Thompson.

Charlie looked up from his computer screen, surprise flickering in his eyes as he registered Nina's presence. "Nina? What are you doing here?"

Nina's expression was a mix of determination and hurt as she stepped further into the room. "How dare you ask me such a silly question, Charlie?! Charlie, you're evil!" Nina yelled as drops of tears flowed down her cheeks, but she quickly wiped them off with the back of her hands, not willing to allow her emotions to take the better part of her. She was here to fight, and she wasn't ready to give in to anything less than that.

On hearing Nina's confrontation, Charlie frowned, standing up from his seat. "Why will you fucking walk into my office to call me names? Are you sick?!"

"What?!" Nina looked up at Charlie with anger rising within her. Why will Charlie be so heartless to pretend as if nothing is at stake? "Charlie, what you did is criminal, and I'll make sure I report you to the police! You pretended to be your brother just to have sex with me, and here you are, bold to run your mouth at me."

"I don't bloody care. Report to whomever you want to. Just a short time before your wedding, you want to spoil things with your own hands. It shows how foolish you are!"

"And that's because you are wicked and heartless! You're wicked, Charlie, for you to do this to me and to your brother. I'm just going to make sure you regret this, you bastard!" Nina spat, hitting her fists against the desk before her, her eyes red with anger.

With a final glare that spoke volumes of her disappointment and anger, she turned on her heel, her steps purposeful as she stormed towards the office door, flinging the door open and slamming it behind her, the sound echoing through the corridor as she stormed out, her anger propelling her forward.

As the door closed behind her, Nina's steps echoed through the corridors of Dover Companies Inc., a symphony of determination and defiance. The anger that had ignited her departure fueled her steps.

The adrenaline that had fueled her anger began to ebb, leaving behind a hollow ache that was as much a result of disappointment as it was of rage. She strode down the corridor, each footfall a testament to her resolve to hate Charlie for eternity.
