6. Hard to Accept Reality

"I can't marry you."

"You have no choice," Erick said with a fixed gaze on the chubby face in front of him, his thumb still felt comfortable caressing Angel's cheeks which were wet with tears. "You are destined to be my partner... like it or not."

"This isn't a movie, Erick!" snapped Angel with an annoyed face, but it was undeniable that her eyes shone with confusion. "I'm human and you're a vampire, how can we get married?!"

"You have trusted me as a vampire, why don't you believe that we can unite?"

Angel was stunned. Erick was right, just now unconsciously he had believed in the existence of vampires in this life, and not just cosplaying a movie.

"The world is full of mysteries, honey... many incredible things do happen."

"But... why should it be me?" Angel asked softly, it felt like her brain was too tired to be able to digest everything.

"Because you're not completely human."

Again Angel's face looked stunned, his eyes and mouth opened wide again. "What do you mean?"

"You are the seed of an Orion and human love story," Erick answered with a cold, expressionless face.

Suddenly Angel's brow furrowed deeply. "What is that?"

"Come with me," Erick said as he got up from the edge of the bed, holding out one hand towards the girl, "and I'll show you everything."

Hesitantly, Angel linked her hand to the cold hand. He had no other choice, especially when his curiosity was really peaked in his head. His feet stepped behind Erick, leaving the room he was in for the first time.

Angel shuddered as she was suddenly surrounded by the cold atmosphere around her. Every corner that was passed, looked quiet with very minimal lighting, only felt cold breaths coming from nowhere.

"Where are we going?" Angel asked breaking the silence.

"You'll find out later," Erick replied without turning his head.

Angel still continued to walk together with the man, his hand was still held tightly. They seemed to cross paths with several people who also had pale skin, and all of them always bowed respectfully to Erick.

"So you really are the Vampire King?"

"According to you?" Erick looked up with a faint smile.

"Anne said that you are the leader of the vampires from the Cullen clan," Angel replied.

"Thank goodness you already know your personal maid," replied Erick who had stopped in his tracks, right in front of a wooden door filled with intricate carvings on its surface.

"Hah?" Angel snorted loudly when she was again confronted with magical events, the door opened immediately without even being touched by them.

Angel was again attacked by the cold when he entered the large room, making him reflexively hug himself. Now his eyes wandered around, observing the large room that looked like a study, with bookshelves soaring up to the ceiling. In front, you can see a large chair with a typical model belonging to a king, equipped with a table in front of him.

However, what made Angel freeze at this moment was a large frame stuck to the other side of the room, showing a photo of a woman who had a very similar face to hers in a more old-fashioned version. Angel's body froze, feeling a shiver of fear that came back to attack her just by looking at the photo.

"Who's he?"

"She is Cornellia Cullen, the daughter of King Cullen who fell in love with an ordinary human," Erick replied, looking at the woman's photo.

"Why does his face look like mine?" Asked Angel with her hands clenched tightly at her sides, trying to stay calm even though she felt like she was about to faint.

"Because she is your mother."

"What?!" shouted Angel, reflexively turning to Erick. "Are you kidding?!"

Erick smiled a little, his eyes still not moving from the photo. "Cornellia is the future Queen of this nation, but she made the mistake of falling in love with humans. They related until Cornellia became pregnant and gave birth to you, but King Cullen refused your presence which was considered to damage the purity of the vampire nation. Finally you were banished to the human world, while your father was killed in front of Cornellia. Out of deep sorrow, Cornellia decided to commit suicide by setting herself on fire."

"What ridiculousness is this again?" Angel muttered with his head spinning. He wanted so badly to deny the authenticity of the story, but his heart seemed to agree.

"Matthew's family just adopted you, you can find out the truth for yourself when you get home."

Angel closed her eyes for a moment, her jaw seemed to tighten before looking back at Erick sharply. "If I'm a descendant of a vampire, why can I become a normal human?"

"Because Cornellia deliberately didn't give her soul to you entirely. She only contains you, and your father's soul is more dominant in your body," Erick explained firmly.

"Huh? I really can't believe this."

"But you're still different, honey," Erick added with one hand again stroking Angel's cheek gently. "You have an extraordinary power that can destroy nations like us, you just don't know how to use it. Even I myself can't enter your mind, even though I can do it to anyone."

"That's why you want to marry me?" Angel smirked.

"I can become King because it is my destiny to marry you." Erick brought his face closer, his lips began to pinch Angel's slightly parted lower lip.

"Shit, I can't refuse it," Angel grumbled in her heart when Erick's lips were already crushing hers intensely, sucking up and down without pause. He enjoyed it, savoring the sweet taste and the pleasant fizz every time they kissed.

"Whatever it is, I still don't want to marry a vampire," grumbled Angel walking in any direction. He continued to walk around the castle after Erick gave him permission, but still with the personal maid accompanying him.

Angel seemed to stop in a courtyard, staring at the towering tree line that surrounds this castle. Suddenly there is a strong desire to escape from this scary place, especially when there are no gates or guards there.

"Your Majesty, it is time for dinner," said Anne.

Angel turned to the woman. "Why aren't there guards here? Isn't a palace usually heavily guarded?"

Anne smiled sweetly. "This palace has been surrounded by a powerful spell. Alien beings will instantly burn up when they pass by, except for us since we have this."

Angel frowned, looking at a small stone with the name "Anne" in her maid's palm. The stone was like a jade, pitch black in color with white streaks of lightning. "What stone is this?"

"This is the key to getting past the enchanted fence, and everyone in this castle must have it," explained Anne.

Angel nodded slowly. In the next second, his attention was distracted by the sound of a horse carriage. He looked forward again, found two horse-drawn carriages that seemed to have just passed through the transparent gate ahead.

"What train is that?" Asked Angel with such high curiosity.

"Those are the maids' carriages for the groceries. Usually we'd be scheduled to go every night."

"There's something like that too? Don't vampires eat by hunting?"

Anne smiled sweetly. "We are vampires of a higher rank, Your Highness... we eat the right way, not slaughtering creatures at random."

"Ah, so that's it," Angel muttered while nodding slowly.

"Tonight just so happens to be my schedule to go out."

And at that moment, Angel felt a breath of fresh air for her plan.
