Chapter 3

Cassia's POV

Oh, Moon Goddess! What have I done?

I looked at the Alpha who was now laying on the floor, bleeding and groaning in pain. I knew then and there that my life was over.

I needed to do something and I needed to do it fast. So I did the first thing that came to mind, I ran.

As I ran out and stepped in front of the inn, I saw Beta Magnus who stopped me and looked at me suspiciously, especially with how troubled I looked.

"Where are you going? Where's the Alpha?" Magnus asked, more like demanded.

"I…I… Alpha… he asked me to… to get the innkeeper…," I lied with the hope that Magnus would not suspect me especially as I stuttered while talking

"The innkeeper? Why? Is he not inside the inn?" Magnus questioned

"No, he…he is behind the inn… I'll go get him real quick…"

"But…" Magnus said but I cut him off as I began to walk to the back of the inn, after which I ran into the woods through the route behind the inn.

I kept on running, hoping that Beta Magnus and the warriors who were outside the inn would not notice anything and I would somehow escape this predicament.

Oh, Goddess! What did I do? I just stabbed my Alpha, my mate!

I was about to break down in tears because I could feel the pains he felt after I stabbed him but I knew that if I stopped running, there were a thousand ways I could be caught and killed. So, I shoved all emotions off, ready to ensure I survived.

I continued running and that was when I began to hear movements in the woods. It was not just movements, it was the sounds of a running troop.

My heart sank as I realized that Magnus knew what I did and he arrayed the warriors to capture me. I kept on going, not ready to give in easily. I knew that I could be caught but I was not ready to sacrifice myself so easily.

The woods were getting darker and my feets weaker. I've been running for over what seemed like the longest hour of my life. I can not be caught, I refuse to die like this.

I looked back and saw Beta Magnus and his troops chasing me. My instincts told me to change into my wolf but I refused because they would easily turn into their wolves and beat me to this run.

"Halt… Halt in the name of Alpha Gaetano!" Magnus shouted but I knew what was best for me. If I stop running, I accept being slaughtered.

Never has it been known that an Omega attempted to kill an Alpha. Although, my intention was not to make an attempt at the Alpha's life. I had no idea it was the knife on the table I used to pierce into his stomach, I just attempted to make him stop in whatever way I could.

I just wanted him to stop. He was my mate and I was willing to give him my body and soul but not forcefully. All he had to do was ask and allow me to accept.

My mother had me through a similar situation. She loved her mate dearly and she consummated their bond without being certain he truly cared for her, only for him to ditch her the morning after he made love to her. Months later, she had me.

I was scared a similar thing could happen especially with the fact that Alpha Gaetano had his flocks of women. I wanted to have a lovely marriage with my mate and not just some one-night stand.

"Cassia! I said stop!" Magnus ordered. On a normal day, I would have obeyed but today wasn't a normal day, today is the day I die if I stop running.

"Would you stop if you were me?" I asked low enough to not be heard and I was glad they did not hear me.

Sometimes my mouth forgets that I'm the lowest of the wolf bloodline, a clumsy Omega. I wonder why I haven't rolled over or slipped over a stone yet.

"Cassia!" Magnus said as he bent down, out of breath. Thank the Moon Goddess he was slightly fat and most importantly, all my years of running errands have had me fast enough to run for my dear life.

"You… You know you can not run forever! I'll kill you for stressing me out!" Magnus added but I ignored the truth he noted and kept running.

"Just let me go… Please… It was a mistake," I said, still running.

"You committed a grave offense, Omega. There's no escaping your fate," Magnus said as he resumed running.

He was right. Even if I run to the ends of the earth, I will still be caught. I had committed the most grievous crime in the history of werewolves, a common Omega like me.

I slipped on a stone and fell face down. I panicked because I could feel the warriors coming close. I immediately picked myself up and kept going but this time, I was slightly limping as I had sprained my ankle.

Moon Goddess! This can't be happening now. How am I supposed to survive this?

The warriors were drawing closer as they kept chasing me. I noticed that some of them began changing into their wolves. I knew it was the end for me because these warriors were strong breeds.

I kept going regardless and I met an end with two roads leading to different directions. I settled for the left road and continued running with my chasers close by.

Looking around, I noticed that I was not in a Pack. This part of the woods felt different and scary. It reeked of trouble and even my weak wolf could feel it.

"Rogues," I muttered to myself as I noticed that I was being surrounded by rogues. Could this day get any worse?

A scary looking rogue with red-colored eyes stepped close to me, sniffed my scent, and said, "Well, well, what do we have here?"
