CHAPTER 6

Lycan Hadrien’s POV

Cassia was severely bleeding. She was an omega so the cut would take more time to heal but the frightening part of it all was that it appeared she was stabbed with a knife laced with wolfsbane. I was out of it, phased out and scared of losing my mate as she laid on the floor in pains, bleeding and crying. I did not know what to do, I have never felt such fear. I was considered the fearless Lycan but this gorgeous angel made me feel the way I haven’t felt since the death of my mother.

She looked dejected and it made me sad. How could I possibly forget that my main aim should have been protecting her. I was too consumed by anger over the fact Amadeus stabbed her that all I saw was red. I was absorbed with vexation that I became unaware that Amadeus’ second guard was inches away from Cassia. I caused this.

I looked at Cassia’s face that squeezed due to the pain she was feeling and I felt responsible for it, same way I felt responsible for my mother’s death. I lost her almost the same way and it broke me, it broke us all. I could not imagine the pains losing her to death. It would kill me.

“Lycan! My Lord!” Ariel called out as he shook me back to life and I just stared at him, my eyes almost teary, scared of losing my mate I just barely found.

“We have got to take her to the Pack doctor now!” he added

“Yes, now, let us move…” I said as I immediately got myself from the fear.

“The journey will be too long, she might die at this rate,” my third in command, Ezekiel said.

I looked at her pained face and I felt a pang on my chest. It took us almost a day to get to the location. I was confused. For all my years of ruling as a Lycan, I always knew what to do but here I was, scared of losing my mate. I knew what the loss of my mother did to me, talk more of my father. I was scared of losing her.

‘’There is a village not far from here hidden in the bush, we could ask for help,” Ariel said, looking at me and expecting the order. I wondered if anyone could help because I already acquired enemies, too much to count but I could care less. We need to get Cassia help and the earlier, the better, I do not mind killing as much as I could if it meant saving my mate’s life.

“Lead the way!” I commanded

On a normal day, I would have ridden on the horse as fast as I could but Cassia’s bleeding seems not to have any plans of stopping any time soon. So, I picked five of my trusted men to go to the village while the rest rode home. We were strong werewolf breeds. I was among the bloodline of originals and I had special skills, so, I decided to not change fully into a wolf whilst the rest men changed.

I picked up Cassia and followed Ariel’s lead. I trusted Ariel with every being in me. He was my most trusted man so I understood that even when I let my guard down, he’s is always ready to be conscious. So, I figured that was how he knew about the village because while I was focused on finding and protecting Cassia, he was focused on protecting me.

We kept a fast pace but by then Cassia was already unconscious. I checked her pulse but she was still breathing. I looked at her wound while simultaneously running and it looked brown, she was beginning to feel cold and all I knew I could do at that point in time was to pray to the Moon Goddess, promising to do whatever it took to restore my mate back to life.

“Ariel, are we close?” I asked in a mind link

“Why? You need to have patience Sire,” he said

“We need to save her Ariel and patience might just be the right thing she needs to breath her last. I cannot let that happen,”

“I understand Hadrien, but why the rush, she is just a ticket to children for you. What is the rush?” Ariel asked to ease the tension

“Ariel, if she dies, you die!” I said as I clocked eyes to a joking Ariel who knew best not to play with my threats.

He was yet to know that she was my mate, I was the only one who discovered that so I recognized why he was not too serious about this, especially with the fact that after the dreadful witch cursed me till few years ago, I never took the curse seriously.

After the event where the witch, Avalon cursed me, I kept on living like nothing was wrong. I changed my harem of women regularly and all was fine until my father started pestering me for children, noting that he will soon join his forefathers. Then, in a fit to get him off my back, I decided to try having children, I tried all my harem and different women from all around the universe and none was working. Tired of it all, I sorted out answers from a witch doctor who told me the curse was the cause.

It was a really sad moment of my life but I knew not to let it affect me or at least I masked it like I had no care about it. Ariel knew I wanted to have heirs but he also knew how I still tried not to be affected by it. Cassia was just meant to be a surrogate mother for me and my harem, unknown to me, the Moon Goddess had something else in mind.

“We are here,” Ariel called out as we all halted

I held Cassia carefully as I noticed that the placed looked empty. There was a walk way that led to a cave in front of us. I looked around and noticed that it was not an abandoned village, it looked like the witches were hiding, ready to attack. I sniffed the air and smelt them around.

Suddenly, I began to hear wordings that I could not understand and I felt sick. I looked around and saw my men holding their stomach in pain as they each slumped and collapsed. I dropped Cassia as I could not help the pains I was feeling.

I looked around and saw the witches coming out and chanting spells. My eyes felt heavy and as I was about to close it, the last person I saw standing in front of me was Avalon.
