Chapter 05 Money Transfer

They went downstairs. Sam's Mercedes S600 had already driven away.

Today, he suffered a great loss in his own hands, and he would surely seek revenge.

When enemies come, they would be met with resistance.

Now, Ryder wasn't afraid anymore.

Ryder arrived at the entrance of the housing estate and hailed a taxi.

Ryder headed straight for Maple Real Estate Limited. Tomorrow, he would officially assume the role of President at Maple Real Estate, so he decided to come and take a look ahead of time today.

Ryder opened his phone and sent Scott a WhatsApp message, informing him that he was on his way to Maple Real Estate.

Scott replied, saying that he would arrange for someone to pick up Ryder.

At this moment, a message popped up in the group chat for the high school classmates, with Tim, the class monitor, being the sender.

"Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm planning a get-together tonight. We'll meet at The Pint House, and I'll foot the bill. Please RSVP quickly! Oh, and our homeroom teacher, Teacher Blair, will be there too!"

A bunch of people replied:

"The Pint House is the best restaurant in Houston. It's quite expensive!"

"Wow, our class monitor is impressive. Count me in!"

"Add me to the list!"

Tim looked at the messages in the group chat and couldn't help but feel pleased. He took a photo of his office and sent it to the group with a message attached:

"I'm typically busy with work, stuck in the office every day, and it gets boring. I thought it would be nice to meet and relax with everyone. Miss you all!"

It was obvious that he was showing off, and someone replied:

"What a luxurious office desk! I’m so envious!"

"I heard that Tim works as a HR manager at a big company and makes a salary of four to five hundred thousand per year!"

Their homeroom teacher, Teacher Blair, chimed in, feeling emotional, "Tim, you're destined for success! Everyone should learn from you!"

Tim humbly replied, "Thank you, teacher! In the future, if anyone has any difficulties, don't hesitate to come to me. As classmates, we should help and support each other!"

The group chat burst into more praise.

At that moment, someone in the group asked, "Why isn't Ryder saying anything? Is he not in the group?"

"Ryder? That poor guy in our class who couldn't afford tuition fees? He used to eat leftover rotten apples from others!"

"He used to eat rotten apples, but now he's living the life of a golden boy after graduation!"

"He's just a spineless scumbag!"

"I heard a few days ago that he's been borrowing money everywhere, saying his sister got into a car accident and needed to be hospitalized. Everyone, be cautious and don't get scammed!"

"I wouldn't lend money to such a despicable person, even if he's rich!"

Ryder remained unaffected by their comments.

After all, he didn't have much interaction with these people during school. So why should he care about their opinions?

In fact, only a few people in the group even knew that this WhatsApp number belonged to him.

It was better to leave this pointless group.

But then, Tim sent a message: "Why did such a despicable person come from our otherwise great class? I feel ashamed! He even stole money from others back then and did a bunch of despicable things! Therefore, it's only fitting that he's experiencing a string of bad luck! Everyone should learn from this and avoid repeating his mistakes!"

These words made Ryder furrow his brow.

It didn't matter what others said about him, but not Tim! The two of them had a grudge.

Back when they were in high school, due to their poor family background, Ryder's classmates looked down on him and kept their distance. Only his desk mate, Charlotte, had a good relationship with him.

Charlotte was beautiful. She had many admirers at school, including Tim, but she rejected them all and seemed to have a hidden liking for Ryder.

Ryder also had feelings for her but felt too inferior because of his poverty, so he kept it to himself. In Tim's eyes, Ryder became a rival.

During a physical education class, when no one was around, Tim stole money from Charlotte's wallet and hid it in Ryder's desk.

After the class, Charlotte discovered the missing money and, with Tim's ‘investigation’, found it in Ryder's desk.

Ryder couldn't defend himself. He was forcefully accused of being a thief! This incident caused a huge uproar. Ryder received a severe reprimand, and his scholarship for low-income students was revoked.

Because of this, Charlotte gradually distanced herself from Ryder. The teachers believed that he had questionable morals and started targeting him, finding faults and eventually expelling him from the classroom, causing his grades to plummet!

Furthermore, there was an incident of missing underwear in the girls' dormitory, and Ryder was the first to be suspected. He was insulted and forced to apologize in front of the whole school, standing beneath the flag!

Countless humiliations! But he endured it all for the sake of education.

Carrying the burden of numerous insults and looking back at the past, the memories were crystal clear, and even today, that suffocating feeling was uncomfortable!

"Since you provoked me yourself, don’t blame me!"

Ryder set up a function on WhatsApp to transfer $20,000 in a group chat. As long as someone typed "Tim is an idiot!", the money would automatically be distributed!

There were sixty people in the group, so twenty transfer messages were sent.

In the group, the classmates didn't pay close attention and casually opened the red envelopes:

"Tim is an idiot!"

"Tim is an idiot!"

"Tim is an idiot!"

...

Tim's phone was equipped with a function that automatically entered text to grab the transfer messages in the group.

"Tim is an idiot!"

He got $0.02!

When Tim saw his phone, his eyes widened. "Who's playing a joke on me?!"

Quickly retracting the message insulting himself, he tagged Ryder in the group: "Who are you?"

The students who grabbed the red envelopes were shocked by the amount they received.

Some even got over $5,000!

Tim received the least and also insulted himself.

Although it was satisfying to grab the money, it wasn't wise to offend the class monitor, so they quickly retracted their messages. Only those who failed to see the group chat didn't retract their messages.

There were still seven or eight "Tim is an idiot" messages remaining.

The atmosphere in the group became tense. Everyone could tell that someone was causing trouble, but they didn't know the WhatsApp account responsible for sending the red envelopes.

Just then, Ryder transferred money to the group again. This time, they had to type "I am Tim's dad!".

The people in the group started spamming:

"I am Tim's dad!"

"I am Tim's dad!"

"I am Tim's dad!"

Tim was really angry. He continued addressing Ryder: "Who exactly are you? Are you seeking death?"

Ryder paid no attention and continued sending red envelopes, saying, "Tim's son must be an idiot!"

The classmates understood what was going on. There was a big shot deliberately targeting Tim in the group! Well, everyone loves a spectacle, right? Who would have a problem with some extra money? Even the usually quiet homeroom teacher, Teacher Blair, joined in!

The text spamming continued:

"Tim's son must be an idiot!"

"Tim's son must be an idiot!"

"Tim's son must be an idiot!"

The red envelopes were being sent continuously:

"Tim, if you're not convinced, come and bite me!"

"Tim, if you're not convinced, come and bite me!"

Because the messages came frequently, everyone was so occupied with receiving the money that they forgot to retract their messages.

The group was filled with insulting messages about Tim. Most of them were too inappropriate to mention.

Ironically, since Tim didn't turn off the automatic message sending and receiving function, he ended up insulting himself every time.

He was even more frustrated by the fact that he only managed to grab the smallest red envelope every time.

Just as Ryder was about to send his eleventh envelope, a message popped up: "You have been removed from the group chat!"

Ryder had no choice but to stop. There was no need to guess, it must have been Tim's doing!

Although this little stunt cost him 200,000 dollars, he didn't feel a pang of regret. On the contrary, he found it amusing.

"The happiness of the rich is the true happiness..." Ryder couldn't help but sigh with emotion.

He was still lost in thought when the taxi came to a halt. He had arrived at the Maple Real Estate office building.
