Chapter 08 Ryder's Mediation

As soon as these words were spoken, the expressions of everyone present changed.

Although it seemed like a punishment for Tom and the others, it was actually a warning to them!

Ryder, as the high-level executive Scott said, held a unique position.

These high-level executives in the company, in reality, were just senior employees.

How would they dare to oppose Ryder's opinion? They could only nod in agreement one by one.

As long as Ryder was willing, he could dispose of these guys as he pleased.

Ryder nodded in satisfaction. "Then I trouble you all to supervise them here!"

After saying this, he walked straight out of the men's restroom and said to Sophia, "Vice President, please show me around!"

"Yes!" Sophia hurriedly followed him.

The remaining high-level executives in the restroom finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Their pent-up anger burst out. First, they vented their anger at Tom and the others, and then they forcefully carried out Ryder's orders.

"Not willing to lick? Want to refuse?"

Tom and the others felt hopeless, but they couldn't afford to offend these big shots. They could only grit their teeth and go along with it.

Sophia led Ryder to the CEO's office on the 20th floor.

"Mr. Clark, your office was cleaned up yesterday. Do you have any suggestions regarding the layout?" Sophia asked.

Ryder sat on the luxurious leather sofa and looked around. It was impressive and spacious enough!

"No suggestions. Vice President, please have a seat. Don't be so formal!" Ryder replied.

Sophia sat across from Ryder, crossing her long, elegant legs in black stockings.

"Mr. Clark, I truly apologize for what happened today. Please speak kindly of it in front of Scott," Sophia requested.

Ryder waved his hand dismissively, saying, "I won't mention this to Scott."

"Thank you, Mr. Clark!" Sophia breathed a sigh of relief and patted her chest, feeling a surge of emotions.

Ryder shifted his gaze and said, "I'm not familiar with many aspects of the company's operations. I will need Miss Anderson's help in the future."

"Of course! Are there any other instructions, Mr. Clark?"

"No specific instructions..." Ryder paused. "But let me mention something casually. I’ve been told that Tom is a cousin of the company's finance department manager. Have you heard about this?"

"I've never heard of it!" Sophia shook her head, looking serious. "The company has a clear policy that high-ranking finance executives must disclose any familial relationships with other employees. Mr. Clark, rest assured, I will thoroughly investigate this matter."

Glancing at the time, Ryder said, "That will be all for today. I have something to attend to. I'll leave now."

"I'll walk you out."

"No need for the trouble!"

Suddenly, Sophia remembered something. "Mr. Clark, there's a dinner at 6 PM tonight with our company's partners. I wonder if you have the time to attend?"

"I can make it. Where is it?"

"The Pint House!"

"Got it!" Ryder left the company, hailed a taxi, and headed to the hospital.

Arriving at the hospital, Ryder stepped out of the elevator and looked towards the high-end ward where his sister stayed. His eyes widened immediately.

His sister, Ava, was lying on a hospital bed outside the ward in the corridor. The breathing machine and other equipment were also moved outside.

No one was taking care of her! What the hell was going on?

Bursting with anger, Ryder ran over. Ava was still in a coma but seemed to be fine for the time being.

Unable to contain his rage, Ryder kicked open the door of the ward without saying a word.

Inside the ward, a young man was playing with his phone on the patient's bed, and a middle-aged couple sat beside him, presumably the young man's family. By the door, there was a middle-aged doctor standing.

Seeing Ryder break into the room, the doctor frowned and angrily exclaimed, "Who let you in? Get out immediately! Don't disturb the patient's rest!"

Ryder pointed at Ava outside and asked with a stern face, "Who moved her out?"

The doctor impatiently replied, "I did!"

"This is the ward I reserved!"

The doctor looked Ryder up and down and said, "Understood. I'm officially notifying you now that this ward has been assigned to someone else. Go to the nurse's station and sign off."

"Why?"

"Because I, Dr. James, the Vice Dean of this hospital, said it! If there's nothing else, get out!"

James responded angrily.

After speaking, he ignored Ryder and turned to the middle-aged couple beside the bed, saying, "Brother, sister-in-law, rest assured, let Neil stay here. If there's anything, let me know anytime!"

The young man playing with his phone on the hospital bed muttered, "Damn it! I really feel frustrated for losing to him this time."

The middle-aged woman lovingly touched his head and said, "Son, don't worry, it's just a minor scrape on your leg. This time, I asked your uncle to arrange for you to be in the VIP ward. We'll handle all the medical expenses accordingly, and we will make sure the person who hurt you pays the price!"

The middle-aged man next to them snorted, "Daring to hit my son, they're truly audacious!"

James instructed Neil, "Neil, rest well. Uncle has a meeting to attend."

However, as he turned to leave the ward, he noticed Ryder still standing at the doorway and furrowed his brows instinctively, saying, "Didn't I tell you to leave? Why are you still standing here?"

Ryder's gaze turned cold as he questioned, "As a doctor, you abuse your power and send a relative with just a minor leg injury to the VIP ward while pushing the patient who just had a major surgery outside. Do you have even the slightest professional conscience as a doctor?"

"What's it to you? Who does your sister think she is? Can she compare to my nephew in any way? Leave now while I'm in a good mood, and you might still be able to find a hospital bed in the hallway. If you annoy me, believe it or not, not only will I kick you out of this hospital, but other hospitals in Houston won't dare to admit you either!"

Full of disdain!

This sentence completely unleashed Ryder's uncontrollable anger. Although he had no blood relation to Ava, Ryder considered her to be his own sister, an untouchable relative.

Unable to reason with James, Ryder swung a punch at James' nose. The latter exclaimed in pain and took several steps back.

The bridge of his nose was bleeding.

"You dare to hit me?" James stared wide-eyed in disbelief. The middle-aged couple also stood up and pointed at Ryder, threatening and cursing, "You little brat, daring to hit our family! Don't you want to live anymore?"

Ryder spat on the ground. "Scum of society! What's wrong with giving you a lesson?"

"Good! You have guts! Today, let me show you the consequences of a young person's arrogance!" James wiped away the blood from his nose, took out his phone, and called security, saying, "Hurry up to the sixth floor. No more nonsense, come quickly. There's someone causing trouble at the hospital!"

After hanging up the phone, he threatened Ryder, shouting, "You're finished for daring to hit me! Do you know the serious charge of causing trouble at a hospital now? I'll make sure you go to prison for the rest of your life!"

"We'll see!" Ryder immediately sent a message to Scott, briefly explaining the situation.

Scott merely replied, "Don't worry, young master. I'll handle it right away."

Before long, three security guards hurriedly ran upstairs. They were a rather rough-looking bunch.

Even before reaching the door, they raised their voices and asked, "Which one caused the disturbance? Let's beat him up, Deputy Dean!"
