Chapter 6
Annette's face lit up with joy. She immediately ran towards him. Then she opened her arms and hugged him.
"Austin, when did you return to Akron?" Annette looked at Austin and asked.
"Alpha Lance was injured, so I came back early," Austin let go of Annette and replied with a smile.
Annette did not notice a car parked by the side of the road. Connor was sitting in the car. He saw Annette and Austin holding each other through the window and frowned.
To his surprise, Annette was friends with Austin Fisher, the son of Lance Fisher, Black Thorn Pack's Alpha.
Also, it seemed that Annette and Austin were very close.
Annette heard Austin's words, and she looked a little embarrassed.
"Ann, come back with me to Black Thorn Pack and visit Alpha Lance," Austin persuaded Annette.
"Austin, I am not a member there. I cannot step into the border of the pack without permission," Annette said coldly.
"I can bring you in!" Austin immediately said.
"No need, Austin. I know my identity," Annette refused Austin again.
"Ann, you know you are always like a sister to me."
Annette smiled. She nodded and replied, "Yes, I know."
"Connor, do you see him? He is from Black Thorn Pack. Aren't you going to teach him a lesson on behalf of Alpha Lance?" Leo's voice rang in Connor's head.
Connor couldn't help but reply, "This is Akron. We are bound by werewolf conventions and also human laws. I don't want to end up in a human prison."
"That's not important. We can break out," said Leo nonchalantly.
Connor did not want to respond to his wolf again, and he also didn't want to look at Annette and Austin anymore. He started the car and left the street.
Austin noticed Connor's car. He remembered that Annette had just gotten out of this car.
He looked at Annette and asked, "Was that Alpha Connor's car?"
"Yes," she said.
"How did you know him?"
"He hired me as his cleaner."
"You work for him? I gave you a bank card, was it not enough?"
Annette did not speak. Austin sighed.
Austin said, "I made all that money from my own business."
"Austin, stop. You know why." Annette shook her head. She said, "You are still from Black Thorn Pack anyway."
Austin knew Annette well. He shook his head helplessly and said, "Alright, Ann. But you should stay away from Alpha Connor. He is a very dangerous man."
"I know," Annette replied with a smile.
"Then let's have dinner together," Austin also smiled.
Annette smiled and raised her wrist to check the time. "Austin, I have to go to class now. Send me the address of the restaurant."
Austin turned his head and looked for the car that had long disappeared.
He thought, 'Alpha Connor isn't the kind of person who would drive his cleaner to school.
Why does he do so? Did he find out something?'
After the afternoon lesson, Annette quickly left the classroom, because she had to clean Connor's place today.
Connor was also socialized with humans, so he didn't live in Black Thorn Pack territory.
Connor lived in a villa halfway up a hill on the outskirts of Akron.
Annette came to the villa and knocked on the door.
A voice came through the door, "Come in."
Annette was stunned for a moment. It sounded like Connor.
She pushed open the door and saw Connor sitting on the sofa.
"Alpha Connor, why are you here?"
Connor said with an unhurried tone, "This is my home. I'm waiting for you."
"Waiting for me? Alpha Connor, do you need me for something?"
"To make it easier for you to work, you will live here."
"What?" Annette said in surprise.
"Do you think I'll just let the dust cover my furniture till you are here?" Connor raised his eyebrows and asked.
"No, Alpha Connor, I'm a student, so I must live in my dorm. Besides, it is far from my school, and it'll be inconvenient for me to come back and forth."
"I can help you settle the accommodation issue with your university. And if you think it's too far from your university, I can arrange a car for you. None of this is a problem."
Connor's tone was very calm, but Annette failed to do the same.
She immediately said, "No need. What I mean is that it is inappropriate for us to live together. It's against the law."
"I have a big villa. Do you think I can't provide you with a separate room? Ms. Hall, are you suggesting that you want to share a room with me?" Connor asked.
"Of course not," Annette replied.
"Then what are you afraid of? Annette, I think I have to remind you that you were the one who took the initiative that night."
She blushed. "You are an Alpha. You can refuse me."
"I usually don't say no to a woman who throws herself at me, and as a werewolf, I can't say no to a female werewolf who's in heat."
Her face flushed at his words, and she could not tell whether she was ashamed or angry.
Connor ignored her. He continued, "Speaking of which, I am curious. Kyle and Austin, which one is your mate? Why would they let you get drunk alone in a bar?"
"What are you talking about?" Annette was anxious.
She thought, 'How does he know about Kyle? Why would he mention Austin?'
"Have you looked into my background?"
"I don't have time for that. Yesterday I saw you in the rain with Kyle, and today I saw you in the same place with Austin, cuddling. Annette, maybe I didn't give you enough credit."
She glared at him.
It was the first time that Connor had met such a woman who was not afraid of him. She was like a wild cat who was ready to attack at any time.
"What is it? Cat got your tongue?"
