"I want you Hunter and even if I'm scared, I'm still willing to try because if I don't I'll always be left with the question of what if. I want this with you."I proclaimed finally deciding to live in the moment and avoid regrets.

Hunter looked at me with a winning smile on his face before he got up from his seat, leaned in and kissed me.

"Thank you baby girl, you won't regret it."Hunter whispered our lips a breath apart.

He kissed me again softly and sweetly making my toes curl. He sat back leaving me wanting for more. He refilled our glasses and we toasted to the agreement we'd come to.

"What does your schedule look like later today since its already after midnight?"Hunter asked me.

"I have a shift at eleven."I informed him.

Valentine's had fortunately come on my day off but still it was a Monday so I had work in a few hours.

"I don't really like you working there. You have irregular hours."Hunter commented.

"Me too that's why I'm considering looking for work elsewhere."I replied.

"Do you have any ideas where you want to work? Can I help?"Hunter asked to which I shot him a disapproving look"I'm already meddling, I'm sorry. I'll be here if you need help."Hunter apologized.

"I'll submit my resignation today or later this week, then I'll have to work for two weeks as they find my replacement while finding better employment."I explained.

"That's good. I wanted to invite you to my place but since you'll be busy, I'll have to wait until you're free. Two more weeks won't be a problem right."Hunter informed me.

"Where do you live exactly?"I asked Hunter.

"I have an apartment in Westlands where I stay a lot but I also have a house in Nyari but it's too big for just a bachelor so I'm rarely there."Hunter informed me.

"You have a house in Nyari?"I choked out knowing the cheapest house there went for a hundred million Kenyan shillings.

"It was a gift from my dad more or less. I paid him back for it but it was one of our first homes and he wanted it to stay in the family."Hunter explained looking embarrassed.

Hunter truly was rich rich and it was honestly a lot to come to terms with.

"Remember you promised to try. I'm rich baby girl, you have to accept it."Hunter replied.

"I know and I am but still, wow."I mumbled draining my glass and pouring another one for myself.

I might as well use his money while I could if he had that much.

"Don't drink too much, remember you're working later."Hunter said taking the bottle from me.

He was right so I just had that last glass and set it aside.

"Can I have my own island then? Or a yacht, I've always wanted to ride in one of those."I asked Hunter.

"I have one, I'll take you to coast soon and we can spend a few days on it."Hunter replied with a shrug.

"I was joking but still why do you own a yacht if you live in the mainland?"I asked him.

"It's not fully mine, the boys and I bought it together. We all own it equally."Hunter replied with a shrug.

"Okay then, I'm ready to go before I discover you own a small part of Kenya."I declared.

Hunter went silent and looked away. I didn't need to be a mind reader to know I'd hit the nail on the head.

"Seriously?"I exclaimed in shock.

"Not me but my family does and I'm my dad's heir so....."Hunter trailed off with a shrug leaving me to connect the dots for myself.

"Let's go now."I demanded getting up.

I got up too fast and swayed on my feet but Hunter was quick to catch me before I fell. I definitely had too much to drink.

"Careful before you hurt yourself baby girl."Hunter admonished wrapping a protective arm around my waist.

"Time to get you home."He declared.

"Don't leave the bottle."I requested him.

He nodded at me and picked up the champagne bottle with his free hand.

Hunter led me through the restaurant towards the entrance where the concierge was and paid our bill. Once it was settled we walked out with me leaning on his arm the whole time.

I really needed to keep track of how much alcohol I had. I was still new to the game but I needed to find my limit. It was a short ride to the ground floor and soon enough I was inside Hunter's warm car as he helped me with my seat belt.

"Give me your phone."Hunter asked me once he was seated next to me.

I wrestled with my purse for a few seconds and managed to hand him the device without dropping it. I hadn't unlocked it so Hunter held it over my face to gain access. He started typing on it and I heard his phone ring a moment later.

"Here save my number."He said handing me back my phone.

"Bear."I mumbled typing out the name and adding two emojis at the end.

I looked at Hunter to find him smiling at me. He saved me as baby girl and showed it to me making me grin.

"I'll take you home now."Hunter said starting the car.

I lay back on my seat and turned to look at him.

"You're so handsome."I found myself blurting out.

I definitely blamed the alcohol for my loose lips.

"Thank you baby girl."Hunter replied winking at me.

I didn't say anything else after that afraid that I would say something to embarrass myself. Hunter put on some music and I sang along to the ones I knew which was most of them. Music was my life, it was in my blood and I had no idea what I would have done without it. My dad hadn't liked the idea of me pursuing a music degree but he didn't have much of a choice.

Then only instrument I knew how to play before I joined the university was the keyboard we had at our local church. Then I joined school and was exposed to so many more and I made it my mission to learn as many as I could. I'd started playing the Violin in my second semester and had immediately fallen in love. Everything else just fell to the background as I focused on the violin. I could still sing and play other instruments but that four stringed beauty spoke to my soul and I didn't regret focusing all my energy onto it.

"We're here."Hunter announced some time later.

I'd been so lost in the songs, I'd failed to notice us arriving. He was parked right outside the gate of my apartment building.

"Do you want to come in?"I asked Hunter.

"If I do neither of us will make it to work so I better leave you alone. Don't worry baby girl, I'll keep in touch."Hunter assured me.

"Okay."I smiled at him gathering my stuff.

Hunter got out of the car with me to properly say goodbye.

"I'll call you."He whispered hugging me with all my stuff in my arms including my roses.

"Please do."I replied leaning into his embrace.

He held me for a minute before pulling back and kissing me softly.

"Sleep well baby girl."Hunter said kissing my forehead.

He helped me with the gate and made sure I was safely inside the compound before getting back into his car. I closed the gate behind me and struggled with all my stuff to get to my door. I managed to get the lock open after a few minutes of struggle with my drunk self and let myself in. I dumped everything on top of the mattress and rushed inside the bathroom to pee. While I was in there I washed my face and brushed my teeth. I was too tired to take a shower so that would have to wait until morning.

I changed out of my dress into a t-shirt and set everything aside on the chair to deal with it once I woke up. I was setting the alarm on my phone when I got a text from Hunter.G

oodnight baby girl. Sweet dreams.

I smiled and typed one back.

Me

Goodnight Bear, dream of me.

Bear🐻🧔‍

Always. Now sleep.

I rolled my eyes at how bossy he was even via text and finished setting up my alarm. I then plugged my phone to charge and turned off the lights.

Getting under my cold sheets I sighed in satisfaction and finally being able to relax. A lot had happened over the course of the day, the biggest being me agreeing to Hunter's proposal. I had no idea what that made us exactly but whatever it was I hoped I wouldn't regret the decision I'd made.

Hunter and I both deserved to be happy and I was looking forward to us being that for each other.
