Luke

" Dude, you need to clean up before you go up there," Alex said through the mind link.

I stopped in my tracks in the hallway and looked down at myself. I forgot that I was drenched in her blood. I changed my route to my library where there was a bathroom there and went in. I made my way toward the bathroom and stepped in.

" Bring my clothes to the library," I said to Alex through the mind link as I stood under the shower and switched it on.

I closed my eyes as I let the cold water calm my nerves. As soon as my eyes closed, I saw her innocent face flash before my eyes, which made me snap my eyes open. I sighed and my eyes fell on the ground where the water became red, reminding me of the unconscious girl lying on my bed.

I hurriedly started to scrub my body to wash off the dried blood.

" Alpha!" Maria's voice came through the link.

" Yes," I replied.

" The girl woke up!" She said carefully and went silent, making my body stiff.

I felt like my mind was in Chaos as I didn't know whether to be happy or to pray to the moon goddess to listen to my prayers. I sent silent gratitude to the moon goddess and hurriedly washed before coming out and drying myself.

" I placed your clothes inside," Alex said in the mind link.

" I have to go to the borders," he added quickly.

" Okay," I said and didn't ask anything further.

After drying myself thoroughly, I wrapped a towel around my hips before stepping out into the library. I quickly wore the clothes Alex placed on the table. I didn't even know what I was wearing as I was in a hurry to see that girl. I went out and made my way toward my room.

I didn't even know what I was feeling anymore, as I was scared to face her. I haven't been scared in my entire life. This was the first time I had felt something like this. I am also excited about meeting her when she is wide awake. I don't know what she will think of me after knowing what I have done to her. I wanted to know if she would like me or not, so I shook my head to clear my thoughts. I shouldn't think like that. She is a human and not my mate.

" How can you be so sure?" Hunter suddenly said in my mind.

" Shut the f**k up. Don't even dare to say anything right now, ``I said. He didn't say anything and went silent.

" She is mine," was the only thing he said before shutting me down again. I gritted my teeth as I was fed up with his behaviour.

I didn't know when I reached my room and I was standing outside of the room. I was pulled out of my chain of thoughts by an angelic voice. Listening to that voice made my heart beat fast. I took a deep breath and pushed the door of my bedroom open.

I felt stupid behaving like a teenager who fell in love for the very first time.

As soon as I stepped into my room, my breath caught in my throat when she looked up and met my gaze.

She was sitting on my bed looking so fragile and tiny on my huge bed.

She was the most beautiful creature I have laid my eyes on. Her dark brown eyes with gold specks around them took my breath away. Her tiny little face was made for my palms to hold. Her pink pouted lips were looking deliciously inviting. I cleared my throat when I realised I was fantasising about her while having just woken up from a battle of death.

I looked at her and saw her body was attached to many machines. I was immediately reminded of the cruelty of hunters and felt guilty.

I looked at her only to see she was checking me out, which made me kind of proud.

" Alpha!" Maria said as she stood up and bowed her head to me. Hearing her words, the girl looked at Maria furrowing her eyebrows. She was looking so cute and beautiful at the moment but I had to control myself from running towards her and pulling her into my embrace.

" I see you are awake," I said, not knowing what else to say or how to start the conversation. She didn't say anything and just nodded her head.

" He saved you," Maria quickly said. Maria's words somehow cut through my heart. I was the one who put her in this situation yet I was the one who saved her. She immediately looked at Maria and then at me.

" Thank you," she said. Making my heart beat faster than before. Maria looked at me with a confused look on her face and when I looked at her she lowered her gaze. I knew why she was so puzzled. After all, she is a werewolf and can hear a drop of a pin even in Chaos.

" Thank you for saving my life," she said once again. Her voice sounded like a melody to my ears. I can listen to her all day and night without getting bored.

I smiled at her, earning a gasp from Maria as I went towards bed. I stood near the bed close to where she was sitting.

" How are you feeling right now? Umm… I asked and trailed off as I wasn't aware of her name yet.

" Scarlett. My name is Scarlett," she said before smiling at me.

I sat down beside her and made her slightly uncomfortable. She tried to move away from me but winced in pain as she clutched her shoulder with her right hand.

" Are you alright?" I asked as I placed my hand on her shoulder.

" Umm yes," she said, clearing her throat.

" So you are the Alpha?" She asked suddenly, making me confused and scared at the same time. I wish Maria hadn't told her what we are.

" Umm yes," I said.

" Yes, he is the leader of our clan," Maria said quickly.

" I am sorry, alpha. I had to tell her that," she explained through the mind link.

" Thanks, Maria," I said in the mind link.

" Alpha?" She asked, looking at me with her doe-shaped eyes. My title came out of her mouth like melted butter.

" Yes, Scarlett," I finally responded as I called her name. I wanted to taste her name on my tongue and see how it feels. Hearing her name from my mouth, her body went stiff as she stared at me with innocence. I so wanted to make her mine but I knew better I couldn't do that. I wanted to know why I feel this way toward a human girl. I know if I stay with her any longer I won't be able to stop myself from falling for her.

" Would you please do me a favour?" She asked.

" I know it is too much to ask, but I don't know anyone out there who can help me. I know you already did a favour by saving my life but please," she stopped and looked at me, tears flowing from her eyes. My heart clenched seeing her like that. I wanted to comfort her but I held myself back as I didn't want to give her a panic attack after what she had been through.

" What do you want?" I asked.

" Please find my father," she said in between her sobs.

I remembered that the man in the guest room was her father. I sighed as I took a deep breath.

" I will," I said.

" Thank you," she replied. Placing her hand on mine and giving me a small smile.

I saw her eyes were closing slowly, meaning she is tired and all the medicine is still working on her.

" Thank you, Alpha," she murmured before leaning towards my chest. I felt my heart skip a beat when she leaned on my chest. I felt complete.

" I am sorry, alpha. She is not fully recovered and the medicine… Maria wanted to say something but I stopped her.

" Leave us," I said, and with a bow she left the room, leaving both of us.
