Chapter 7

Luke

After Maria left the room reluctantly, I looked at Scarlett who was now sleeping peacefully while her head was resting on my chest. From her face, she looked content and at ease.

I sighed, closing my eyes as I was thinking of a way to let them meet. Hunter growled at me suddenly at my thoughts.

" Don't make this difficult for me," I said to him. He didn't reply to me and went silent.

I looked at her again as I possessively wrapped my arm around her shoulder. I don't why I feel like she belongs to me.

" To us," Hunter growled, this time it sounded possessive and angry. I didn't respond to him.

I placed Scarlett gently on the bed, making sure not to wake her up. I placed a pillow under her head and she stirred a bit before going back to sleep again. I need her to be fully recovered before I search for my answers.

" Alpha, you need to see this," Alex said through the mind link.

" I will be there," I said to him.

I got up from bed and walked towards the door. I stopped at the door and turned my head to look at her one more time before going out.

This girl is making me crazy and my head is now hurting. After all this year, she is the only person who is stirring my emotions like this.

I reached the living room where my eyes fell on Alex there. He looked panicked at me, as he didn't even notice my arrival.

" What are you thinking?" I asked, raising one eyebrow. Whatever it is, he shouldn't have this much distraction for a werewolf and, on top of that, when he is a beta.

His head snapped in my direction, looking surprised as he stopped pacing the room.

" Alpha," he breathed out, looking dead into my eyes.

I saw him reaching into his pants pocket, and pulling out a piece of paper before handing it over to me. I looked at him and took the paper from his hand.

I unfolded the paper and read it.

" I hope the little rabbit is fine now."

" I am coming for that princess. Have fun till then."

I crumpled the paper in my hand as I looked at Alex with rage. I knew who this person was talking about.

" Where did you find these?" I asked him, clenching my fist at my side as I shook in anger.

" At the border with a human body," he replied.

" Human body?" I asked. I know that many humans came here to live with us after finding out about our existence and many of them found their mate in us, but they are all now werewolves.

" She is not from this territory," he added.

" Find out who sent this letter?" I said to Alex.

" Do you know who he was talking about?" He asked.

I sighed as I walked to the couch and sat down leaning back.

" Unfortunately, yes," I said, pinching my temple.

" Who?" He asked.

" The girl hunter tried to mark it!"

" The one in your room?" He asked, making me slam my head against something.

" Are you for real?" I asked, opening my eyes as I looked at him in disbelief.

" I was just asking," he said, raising his hands in the air.

" But from what I was told, she is barely 18 now," Alex said, making me look at him with a raised eyebrow.

" When I got back here, I was told that the man in the guest house was asking to meet with you. I tried to link you but your guard was up and Maria told me….. that you were busy," he said, looking here and there but me. I rolled my eyes inwardly while keeping my face emotionless.

" He told me that she was 17 and they threatened him with her life before when he rejected helping them. He also said that they knew everything about him and all of you," he said.

A low growl rumbled in my throat as I slammed my hand on the armrest of the couch.

" I also have one more piece of news," he said, carefully.

" I looked at him as I waited for him to continue. He gulped audibly before saying,

" Your father is on his way here. And I don't think he liked the idea of the girl in your room," he said.

" He can't do anything if he tries to," I said. He is not my problem right now.

" Do you think someone wants to kill her? I mean the girl you saved," Alex asked.

" Scarlett. Her name is Scarlett, ``I said, as I didn't like the way he was addressing her.

" Yes. I do think someone wants to kill her and, not only that, I do think there is a lot more than that we don't know," as soon as the words left my mouth I heard a loud gasp. Both of our heads snapped in the direction of the sound.

At the top of the stairs, I saw Scarlett standing there. Both of her hands covered her mouth and tears were flowing from her eyes freely, while she was shaking visibly. Fear was evident in her eyes.

" Sh.it," I cursed under my breath as I stood up from the couch and ran in her direction.
