Chapter 4
Katherine:
After I met with Damien, I returned home. Lunch had been used to catch up on our conversation, he told me what he had been up to and the places he had visited in the last few years, and I told him about the changes that had occurred in the Wolfgang Pack, my disappointments and sorrows during my growth. Of course, I left out some of the feelings I was having about our new Alpha; that was something I didn't want to admit to myself, let alone others. So I spent the rest of the break I had taken from the city library alone, at home, again.
I had been flipping through the channels for an hour, and no program caught my attention or aroused my interest. Being cooped up at home wasn't something I enjoyed, nor was it in my nature. Damien had to take care of some accommodation matters for the rest of the afternoon. I had insisted that he stay with me for a while, but he had flatly refused. Although it wasn't very common for a male to share a home with a female wolf without some sort of blood or sexual relationship, I didn't care in the least what others thought of us. I had lived alone for years, and no one had any business with whom I brought into my home now. But there was something mysterious in his smile as he declined my offer.
Taking a deep breath, I stood up, walked over to the refrigerator, and examined its contents. Except for a few cans of Coca-Cola, some fruit, and a roast, there was nothing sweet to satisfy my cravings. I went to the window and looked out at the forest that surrounded the small wooden hut I lived in, an inheritance from my parents. If I ran, I would be at the neighbor's house in a few minutes. Jared wasn't usually home at this hour, always busy with the pack, so I was able to pay a delightful visit to Andrea, who was always busy at the oven with her delicious cake recipes. It was snack time and she always prepared something wonderful for us to enjoy.
Running out of the house, I followed the well-marked trail that had been there for years, leading directly to Jared and Andrea. They were among my rare neighbors in the vast forest, a little far from the city. That's why I have developed such a pure friendship with Andrea since her birth. I was three years older than her, but we got along wonderfully. I took a deep breath as I approached the cabin to make sure I wouldn't run into a man who would not only spoil my appetite for cake but also make me hungry for something else. I knocked on the door and sniffed again; no sign of Jared. I knew I couldn't avoid him forever, but I would try as hard as I could. I smiled as I saw Andrea's face covered in flour, her hands in the same state despite her attempts to clean them with a kitchen towel.
"Looks like I came at the right time." I grinned, my mouth watering.
**Andrea: **
"You always know when there's something delicious in the oven," I laughed, stepping away from the door to let her best friend in.
Katherine
"You know me well." I smiled playfully, pointing to my nose with my index finger. "I've always had a good sense of smell."
Andrea
"Well, in a little while we can have cake with the coffee!" I said with a smile.
Katherine
"I can wait." I nodded as she winked at me; Andrea knew me well, I never turned down a cup of coffee. Watching her in the kitchen, so domestic, I noticed how much she reminded me of my mother. She always took care of everyone who visited her, unlike me. I only liked to be outside, running, hunting, howling at the moon. Still, I asked, already knowing the answer. "Do you need help?"
Andrea
"That's a rhetorical question, isn't it?" I looked at Katherine with a mischievous smile on my lips.
Katherine
"Absolutely!" I immediately declared, sitting down at the table, and in unison, we burst out laughing. For a moment I raised an eyebrow when I saw Andrea biting her lip and looking into her pantry. "What's wrong?"
Andrea
"I want chocolate frosting on my cake this time," I looked at my friend in frustration, "but I'm out of cocoa." Biting my lip, I add. "Keep an eye on the oven, I'll run to the store, it'll be quick. "
Katherine
"If you don't take too long, there's no danger of the house catching fire," I said with a wry smile as Andrea just laughed and left immediately.

I paced thoughtfully around the forest's edge with my mind full of conflicted emotions. The news that a human had been attacked nearby had me worried a lot, putting me on high alert. I would have to watch everyone and everywhere closely, even closer than usual. After I did my rounds, decided to go home, Andrea could have been worried since I hadn't been home since lunchtime. when it was only a few meters away; something smelled delicious and his stomach rumbled restlessly. I hadn't eaten since lunch and hadn't allowed myself to hunt during my rounds, so I was famished. As I leaped through the kitchen window, which was always open when I was in my lupine form, another scent invaded my senses. A delicious scent that was familiar and I had picked up a few hours ago. My human form immediately took shape, leaving the restless wolf at my mercy. Her perfect body was covered only by a pair of shorts and a backless blouse and I breath heavily as I approached even more. Her scent was intoxicating and I couldn't resist moving within inches of her.
"Hi, Katerine..." I said, enchanted by her surprise and her frightened green eyes. But it wasn't just fear that radiated from her body; she was aroused. That made me burn even more, so hot that I wanted to find out just how far she could ignite me.
Katherine:
" Jared..." I jumped in surprise when I heard his voice right behind me.
I was concentrating on finding the coffee can in the cupboard to put in the machine when Jared silently appeared. Despite having a strong instinct for alertness, with the sweet scent of cake in the air, it was difficult to notice another scent in the house, though his scent was quite enticing and stimulating.
I quickly turned around and immediately held my breath as I came face to face with him. His eyes were on me and he was approaching like an experienced predator and completely...naked.
