Chapter 9
Hudson's POV
The first time I saw her was the day I caught her stealing glances at Dominic. I felt the connection between us immediately. But she didn't. She had fallen for my brother so much to notice that her mate was standing a few inches away from her.
When Dominic found out that she was my mate, and that she was in love with him, he wasted no time in trying to get her. I knew there was nothing I could do. She liked him and he wanted her.
I can still remember the joy on her face when Dominic declared his interest in her. I didn't want to destroy her joy even when I knew she was my mate.
As I watched them as they carried out their wedding ceremony, I felt a pang of pain and guilt in my chest. What if I could have gotten her if I had told her that I was her mate?
I heaved a sigh as I watched them carry out the last part of the ceremony. My gaze was fixed on her. It never wavered.
When the time came for them to dance, I watched them closely. I had fallen for her. I knew it. I wished I was the one there in place of Dominic but it was just wishful thinking which would never be realised.
They had barely started dancing when she fell unconscious. "Kitty," her mother called. Dominic had a look of surprise on her face. That was all, he wasn't worried I could sense it. He just sat there with her in his hand without bothering to take her inside.
I hurried to the front and took her in my arms. No one questioned why I carried her from Dominic. They were too worried to see that a sweat had broken out of my head due to her worries.
"Please don't leave me," I kept muttering inwardly as I took her to her room. Her father and mother went with her to her room. As for Dominic, I'm sure he must be fooling with Alicia.
The pack's physician was called immediately. She checked on her. "How is she?" Her mom asked.
"She's fine. She lost consciousness as a result of fatigue," she said. She prescribed some medicine before leaving.
I volunteered to get the drugs from the closest pharmacy.
By the time I returned, her parents had returned to their room. Dominic was still not there. I gave her the drugs. It was hard as she was not conscious but I managed to help her take it.
I noticed her temperature was changing. She was hot. I panicked without knowing what to do. I didn't want anybody close to her so I didn't call her parents. I would take care of her myself.
I got a cloth and a piece of cloth. I placed the cloth in water and after squeezing it placed it on her head. It helped reduce her temperature.
I held her hand in mine. Her chest heaved up and down. I noticed she was about to regain consciousness and quickly walked out of the room.
I didn't go. I hung close to her room. I didn't know why but it felt insecure to leave her alone in the room.
When I saw her walk out of the room with a jug in her hand, I followed her. Careful not to make a sound and allow her to find out I was behind her.
I knew I shouldn't be doing this. She was my brother's wife. The Luna of our pack. I had to get over any feelings I had left for her.
After today. I said to myself. I'll work on getting over my feelings for her after today.
I watched her walk, trying to steady herself with each step she took. She had walked past a room when she stopped and walked back.
I watched her as she moved closer to the door. I could hear moans and grunts coming out of the room. Someone was having a hot and passionate night.
She watched whoever was in the room through the space in between as the door was not properly locked.
Her hands that were placed on the door shook. Her face became flushed with anger and sadness.
She turned and started walking back to her room. I quickly hid to avoid her seeing me.
She walked into her room and banged the door. I could hear muffled sobs coming from the room.
I gritted my teeth. I didn't like seeing her cry. I wanted to help but I didn't know how. I now understood what she saw. That room was Dominic's.
I walked to the kitchen and took a glass of water. She must be tasty. I knocked on her room. When she opened it I noticed how her eyes were red.
She muttered a thank you before taking the glass of water from me and shutting the door.
I walked to Dominic's room and pushed it open. Dominic was wearing his trousers at the side. Alicia was just about to leave. Her eyes widened when she saw me.
She turned sharply to Dominic. "He already knows. You don't have to worry."
She smiled. Relief washes through her eyes. "Then I'll get going." She said. She blew him a kiss before finally stepping out of the room.
"When are you going to stop this? How could you do this on your wedding night? Especially when your bride is only a few rooms away?" I said.
"You know you don't have a say here Houston." He said. He had finished wearing his trousers and was now wearing his shirt.
"I know but…"
"If you know already then please leave." He said. I was surprised at his tone.
"Dominic don't forget that…"
"I'm your Alpha and I command you to leave my room. You have no right to lecture me," He said.
My wolf growled within. I sighed and flared at him before I left.
I felt suffocated. A lot ran through my mind. The feeling you have when you can't claim or protect what is yours. I had to relieve myself.
I took my wolf out on a run in the woods as fast as I could. I climbed on a mountain and growled loudly to the moon.
The goddess was so unfair.
