Chapter 28: Bad occurences

Zora's POV

I quickly wiped my tears to avoid been seen by Zico and thankfully, he was sitting with eye closed. He must have returned back to his seat after handing the picture to me.

"It's a lovely picture you've got ." I said with a small smile. I had nothing like this which obviously made me tear up.

"Yeah" He said with his eyes still closed.

"There is something I have to tell you." I said. He slowly opened his eyes and looked at me with curiousity. "This early?" He asked. "It's the best opportunity to discuss it." I said. He nodded urging me to say it.

I exhaled and started by giving details of what happened yesterday with the kid. He listened keenly without interrupting me. I thought Jerry would have told him everything but he didn't.

Then I asked about katie, the voice in my head. He explained the process of wolf transformation to me. The transformation starts from the age of sixteen and you keep getting strong as you grow older with a lot of practice.

My case was different because something is probably blocking my wolf. I decided to ask about the Crescent pack because of Jerry's statement in the forest.

"That will be a topic for another day." He said and pointing to the window. It was already morning and the sun was at it peak.

I nodded in understanding and mouthed a thank you, then I left his office.

Instead of going back to the room, I took the opposite direction which led to the exit of the building.

"Hey new girl" a voice called out. I stopped walking and turned to look at the person. She was a dark haired girl with a full lips and big brown eyes.

"Hi" I replied politely combing my hair with my left fingers.

"Do you wanna join?" She smiled at me but I had mixed feeling about her.

"I wish I could but I have plans." no plans actually. I needed to clear my head before anything.

"Next time then." We exchanged names and I left.

"Zoe." Sam called as I turned towards a lonely path. The packhouse was already out of view. The road was quiet, just what I needed.

"I saw you coming out of the Alpha's office almost an hour ago." He said when he came closer.

"Yeah" I sighed heavily.

"Can you tell me about the Crescent pack?" I asked, hoping to get an answer from him.

He froze. "Something is definitely wrong" I said and stopped walking too. I could feel it.

"It's not something I can explain." He looked undecided.

"Why not?" I crossed my arms and looked at him.

"Because it has been forbidden to talk about them in this pack." He said. Forbidden? I thought.

"The only people that can tell you is a member of the said pack." He said and just then his phone rang.

"I have to take this." He said and took few step away backing me.

"Jerry I'm close by" He said after picking the call.

"Okay, I will be there soon." He said and ended the call.

"We are needed at the pack house." He said and faced me.

"Why?” I asked.

"You will find out soon. And it's important we get there quickly." He said and I nodded. When we got to the pack house, there were two bodies in front of the entrance. I almost puked. What caught my attention was the face of the second one. The girl who exchanged names with me few hours ago.

What happened? I thought. Some were crying and others looked angry. It felt like they knew what happened.

"They were attacked by the red claws." Someone said. He had the build of a guard. "Red claws?" I thought out loud.

"Yes, they are the Amazonal pack" the guard said.

"Again?" Sam looked pissed.

"Give them a befitting burial" Zico said and the guard nodded with a 'yes Alpha'.

"Sam, Jerry, Simon see me in my office." The Alpha said and headed straight inside the building. Yes Alpha, they answered. The guard was Simon.

Few guys with good build came and moved the bodies away. I pitied them and wished I had actually follwed her when she asked, maybe I would have been of help in a way. This was partly my fault.

'It's not your fault' Katie said

'I just wished I had followed her when she asked'. I said exasperated.

'You have a lot to deal with too, so stop the blame game'. She said.

I really wished I could see her right now. She always comes forward right when I need her. But wishes weren't horses.

'I love you too' she laughed.

I internally rolled my eyes. 'Let's get the truth and go home' I told her and she nodded.

I went straight to the Alpha's office and just as I was about to knock, my ears caught something.

"It might be because of her as Fred called me two nights ago, telling me to release the girl who we took in." Zico said. What! Me? Why and who is Fred? I thought in fear. Two nights was when I came into the pack.

"He promised to send a gift if I don't comply. You all know he is a man of his word." Zico said again. So I'm the problem again. All I wanted was to find my parents.

I decided to leave the place to avoid any more damage.

I went back to my room and picked the few clothings Jerry got for me since I left without any.

I packed and hid the bag to avoid suspicions.

Later that night I left the pack with the little information I got from Jerry who gave me everything I needed without the slightest clue.

Few steps to cross the boundary someone caught my arms. I jumped out of fear.

"I knew there was something fishy about the questions you asked earlier. Was this all we meant to you?” Jerry said pained.

My heart sank at his last words. I knew I should have atleast told him but he wouldn't have let me go if I did.
