Chapter 6: Lavender

Zora's POV

'Her' I thought.

"Why do we need her?" A new voice said, sounding demanding.

"Do you need to ask?" the familiar voice was irritated.

Curiosity got the best of me. I decided to check it out by moving closer to the direction the voices were coming from quietly.

The moment I took a step, I heard my name.

"But…" the conversation stopped.

I knew that was the end of it.

I turned back with a look of anger and immediately Julia saw my face, her smile slowly faded away and was replaced with a confused look.

I knew it was over but I still hurriedly went to the spot the voices were coming from and behold it was empty.

Julia was behind, asking what the problem was for the 4th time.

I knew I shouldn't be upset with her because she had no idea.

"You ruined the moment" I almost screamed at her face.

"For what?" She asked, still wearing a confused look on her face.

"I was about to confirm something" I said still annoyed, heading towards the entrance of the garden that leads to the hallway while massaging both sides of my head with my thumbs. The anger was slowly drifting away along with the little strength I had left.

"I had no idea" She said softly.

"I know" I said to myself.

"should I call the pack doctor?" Julia's voice concerned. I became instantly tired. I had no idea what the conversation was all about but the fact that I couldn't place a face to the familiar voice weakened me.

"Later J" I said to her in a small voice bringing down my hands as we got to the entrance of my room.

"Not until I'm rest assured everything is okay with you" Julia replied catching up to me.

"I'm fine, I think I need more rest" I said.

"I can't argue with that" She opened the door and helped me in, even though I could go in by myself.

I got into bed and she left the room almost immediately, promising to check back in 20 minutes after giving me a small smile and throwing lots of love signs. Too many Korean dramas. I rolled my eyes and smiled. She doesn't take offense easily, she forgives in less than 6 hours if you cross her. Justin takes more of her anger side than me.

Thinking of Justin, where has he been? I thought closing my eyes.

It wasn't upto 3minutes, I heard the sound of my door opening and the fresh scent of Lavender brushed through my nose.

I smiled before opening my eyes. The only thing that gave me double strength were the flowers. It has always been my favorite since I could remember. I turned towards the door. Justin was standing right at the entrance of the room holding a tray.

The tray contained flowers tied together to form a bunch.

Now I remember the reason my legs went in the direction of the garden.

"Hey Zoe," He said, coming closer. I carefully raised my head and tried to relax my back on the headboard.

"Where did you get this?" I asked, still smiling. Most importantly, "how did you know I needed this right now?" I continued. He dropped the tray in the bedstand, gave me the flowers and took a seat beside me. I accepted it from him with a wide smile bringing it to my nose.

Justin knew so many things about me that I still don't comprehend why he seem to take interest in doing these things for me.

"I heard your voice before I stepped into the building." He said, looking at me with a small smile while scratching the back of his neck awkwardly.

It has always been this way with him. He was always there when I needed him the most. I was thankful so I hugged him throwing my hands around his neck still holding the flowers without thinking. What would I even think of when he was my friend, a good one at that.

He froze for a few seconds before returning the hug. "Thanks Justin" I told him. He tightened the hug a little.

I released him from the hug still resting my hands on his shoulders.

"You just made my day" I said and removed my hands to rest my back again but he didn't release his hold on me and the intensity of his look was undescribable.

This wasn't the first time he has done something like this but this was the closest of all. Sometimes he would hold my hands and refuse to let me go quickly when we were still in elementary school. As we grew older, he would stare at me longer than usual. Now in high school, he would avoid me once in a while but I have caught him staring few times. He would just smile and make a silly face.

We remained that way for few minutes before the sound of a knock resonated through the room, bringing him back to reality. He quickly released his hold on me and stood up.

"See you later" He said and left allowing whosoever was at the door to come in.

I exhaled unintentionally and relaxed my back. When the pack doctor came in, I knew Julia was at work here. she was wearing a black denim trousers and flowery top to go. It was different from what she wore earlier. But as that wasn't my business I brushed it off. She asked about any recent development concerning my health and I told her how I felt. She gave me some drugs and left.

Five minutes after I took the drugs, I slept off and had a dream where Kenzi came to my room, sat down on the bed close to me and caress my hair for few minutes. It was the best feeling. After which he gave my hair a light kiss and stood up. He made sure I was well covered with the duvet and turned to go. Then I woke up.

But the sight in front of me said otherwise.
