Chapter 8: Emotions
Zora's POV
I could forgive you for something else but seriously not my pancakes. How dare she touch my precious food. I was boiling with anger but I refrained from saying anything, waiting for Kenzi to handle it.
"This is for the pack right?" She asked looking at Kenzi while faking ignorance. What!! the pack…? I thought.
'Who prepares a plate of pancakes for a pack' I rolled my eyes not caring about manners.
I looked at Kenzi and noticed he was already looking at me with a pleading eyes.
What was he expecting me to do? Let it go? Really. Someone just touch my food rudely. I mean you don't expect me to let it go right?
I hurriedly moved to the plate of food and shoved her hand away when she went in for the second one.
"You should have asked first Mira." Kenzi scolded her.
"Sorry, I just thought it was the usual. I will next time" She said softly.
I couldn't take it any longer and just stormed out of the kitchen with my pancake.
I headed straight to my room and ate my food quietly. After few minutes, anger turned into jeaousy then finally restlessness.
I know I'm supposed to be angry but I vouldn't help but feel this way. Why wasn't he angry at her? What was their relationship and why didn't he come after me. That was exactly why I stormed out.
I couldn't help but think this way and it annoyed me. Even though she acted like a brat she is still pretty. Do they have something together? The questions were becoming too much for me to bear.
I decided to go back to the kitchen in pretense of returning the plate. Just a sneak peak will do, I assured myself. Atleast that would be better than thinking about all the what ifs. Before I got to the door, a knock came through that instant.
I knew who it was but I pretended not to hear.
"Can I please come in?" He softly asked. Hearing no response he tried again.
"Zoe?" He called but still nothing, then he let himself in and stood for few seconds before walking to the where I was, pretending to go through my phone and sat next to me on the only sofa in the bedroom.
"Aren't you supposed to be with your loyal pack member who can take anybody's food without permission." I asked looking up from my phone.
"C'mon Zoe, you heard her, she thought it was for the pack" he defended her.
That statement got me angry and I stood up.
"You are supposed to be my mate right…?" I asked him raising my voice a little.
I didn't wait to hear his reply before I continued.
"Then why are you supporting the barbie?" I yelled at him.
"Her name is Mira" He corrected.
"Do I look like I care?” I have no idea why I was this angry but it gave me a refilled energy.
"I don't care about the both of you or what you do with her." I thought.
"Really?" He asked with his voice full of amusement.
Wait, what! I must have said it out loud. Gosh I felt embarassed.
"What I'm saying is that I just want to know the truth about my birth parent, after that I will leave." That didn't do justice to covering my embarrassment but it got his attention because his expression slightly darkened with a little bit of disappointment.
"What's this really about?" He asked coming closer, not in a scary way but I still backed away from him.
What am I supposed to say to that, all I know is that I don't like the Barbie.
I made a move to leave his side but he was already in my face. I lost my sense of reasoning that moment. I even forgot the barbie and the reason we were in that position.
His thumb brushed my left cheek causing me to unintentionally closed my eyes. He wrapped his hands around my waist and brought me closer to him. I felt him come closer to my left ear, making me shiver with his breathe.
"Don't ever say you will leave me again" He whispered and raised his head releasing his hold on me. I just nodded like a little kid that was given an instruction. Then I opened my eyes and he was gone.
I sat down on the closest thing to me, my bed. I thought about his last statement and signed heavily.
"I don't wish to go but I have a priority." I said quietly to myself.
I picked my phone from the same place I threw it on when I entered the room and scrolled through the contact list until Julia's name appeared.
"Hey" I said when she picked the call. The only time I'm able to make a call is when the person is close by. Unless an outsider calls me.
"Is something wrong?" She knew me well.
"Not really" I said.
"You promised to check back, didn't you?" I asked again.
"Oh, trust me I did" I could feel her smile through her words.
"Really, when?" Maybe when I fell asleep because I don't remember seeing her at all.
"Are you sure you want the details?" She was enjoying this.
"Where exactly are you?" I'm bored.
"I'm out for an urgent message." She said nonchalant.
What message could she possibly have in a place she has never been to before, I thought.
"What about Justin?" I further asked.
"I'm not sure but he should be around" She answered. I could hear some noise in the background.
"Fine, see you soon" I said sounding defeated and hung up when she replied.
I resorted to the last thing that could kill the boredom, dance.
I left my room and headed to the garden because of it's serenity.
As soon as I closed the door, I looked for an enclosed space and started dancing. I noticed my steps were a little different from the usual and It took about 5 minutes before it ended. But this time the weather didn't change, something else did.
