Chapter 3
Callum POV
We pulled up to the pack house. "I hate doing this. I shouldn't even have to. Our pack could destroy this pack." I told Reid. "True, but relationships are important." I knew he was right. It was why I made him my beta. Not only that, but he had been like a brother to me. We had been friends since we were in our cribs. His father was my father's beta. My wolf Lorde started to speak. "Maybe will find our mate." "Yeah, I doubt that dude. I mean, for goddess's sake, we are 29. If we haven't found her yet, I don't think we ever will. Maybe I should just pick someone." "Don't fucking do that. I will hate you forever." "You always say shit like that and never mean it." " I do mean it, don't fucking do it." I was silent.
I was tired of waiting. My friends all had mates and pups at this point. But me, no. Maybe the goddess wouldn't grant me a mate since I was prone to bloodshed. I mean, I killed so many of her wolfs. She must hate me. I needed to focus on what was happening now. Not the fact that I was still alone and most likely cursed.
We pulled up. The Alpha greeted us. "Welcome Alpha Callum." This guy was an Alpha. He looked like he couldn't do anything. Then again, I knew this was a prosperous pack, so maybe there was more than meets the eye. Because looking at him, I saw nothing impressive.
If you will follow me, I can show you to your rooms. "I nodded, and he led the way. He set the three of us up in a room. I had some warriors with me, but only a little. He had some bunkhouses set up a little way in the woods for them. It was nice he at least had accommodations for all my men. "Festivities' should be starting soon. I look forward to introducing you to my pack." "Thanks." He shook my hand and then left. Leaving us to our own devices.
The best way to proceed was to hop and shower and get ready for whatever elaborate thing Alpha Conners had planned. The room they had put me in was a good size. Nothing is as nice as my own room back home. But then again, I was not the Alpha of Summit Pack, so I didn't expect to have anything more than I had. Getting in the hot water, I started to think about all the things that needed to happen on this trip.
I needed to make a good alliance. Not that I needed it because no one dared to go against my pack. We were considered ruthless killers. Our name gave away what we were. But because, for once, I had no plan to fight with this pack. I wanted to make an alliance instead of taking them over like I usually would. Now, I had no problem with a fight. I had instigated my fair share, but it was time to sit back for a while. The best way to do that was to make friends. Which didn't suit me or my wolf, Lorde.
I hated other Alphas. But I am sure they hated me just as much. It always came down to a power struggle. Having two Alphas together was like just waiting for an explosion. I need to keep control the best I can. "If he steps one toe out of line, though, I will kill him," Lorde said. He was a powerful wolf. We were a force to be reckoned with.
It didn't take long for us to be ready. "Hey, Alpha, it seems people have all but shown up. You probably want to come down now." "Thanks, Reid." I stood. I decided to get this over with. Then, tomorrow, the real work would begin. Work I detested. "We could always just kill this Alpha and claim his territory. No need to make allies when you can just take what is his." "I am not ruling it out just yet, Lorde." I heard him chuckling in my head.
I came down, and I looked around. Alpha Conners came up to me. "Alpha Callum, I believe you remember my Wife Celia and our children Charlotte and Xavier." I shot them a forced fake smile. "Nice to see you again." I had met them years ago. It was a call from the Royal Pack. And that was the top of the chain in the werewolf world, so there was no way to get out of a summons from them. I looked at Charlotte; she was just standing there, mooning over me. Not that I minded.
She was pretty, but I knew better than getting involved with an Alpha's daughter. She pushed out her breasts, trying to draw attention to them. I then smelt the most divine thing I had ever smelt. "Mate," Lorde screamed. I looked around, trying to find the source of the fantastic scent. The whispers erupted. What was going on? "Can you believe how she looks?" A girl said.
A guy then said to his friend. "Holy shit, who knew she was so hot. I would fuck that." I ignored the whispers and began to push past people, needing to find who this smell was coming from. Whomever she was, she smelled like Juniper and Jasmine. Then I saw the source. She was a tiny thing. Her big light blue eyes pierced mine. Her hair was long and golden brown in color. She had a few freckles peppering her face.
I looked over her body. It was curvy and petite. "Mine," I growled at her. Pulling her to me. As I grabbed her to bring her to me, tiny sparks flew across my skin. I shoved my face into her neck, sniffing her. She smelt heavenly. She brought her hands up, wrapping them around me. She sniffed me. I wanted to get out of here. I wanted her to myself. "He is so fucking dead." I heard someone say. I grabbed her arm and pulled her out of the crowded room.
