Chapter 5

Callum POV

Holly, shit, I found my mate. Lorde was howling in my head in excitement. I still couldn't believe I had finally met her. And goddess, she was perfect. Her lips were so soft. Everything about her was smooth. Her skin was like silk. I stepped out of the closet. Why had she been called away so suddenly? I mean, we were mates. Why would her alpha demand he go back to her room? He knew how the bond worked. We would want to remain close to each other.

"Kill him." Lorde seethed. "He made her leave. Kill him." He wanted blood. He hated the idea of someone demanding things of her. Daisy, that was her name. "I like it. It is feminine and gentle." "Yeah, just like her. I mean, she is so tiny. She smells good enough to be a daisy." With her being so tiny, I wondered if she had much fight in her. "Does it really matter? We can protect, mate." "Lorde, you're right. It doesn't really matter. We are more than capable of protecting her."

"Alpha." "What is it, Reid?" "Well, first, congratulations on finding your mate." "Thanks. What else do you need?" I was not in the mood to do anything. I planned to go find my mate and get to know her more. I had waited long enough for her and didn't want to wait another second. "Alpha Conner wants to talk to you." "Tell him to fuck off. I don't want to talk to him. In fact, he better watch his back. He sent my Daisy to her room." "He wants to talk to you about your mate. He says there are some things you need to know about her. It may change your opinion of her, he says."

Lorde questioned this. "Nothing that pig will say will change the fact she is our mate." "Still, maybe we should hear him out. This is someone who would be joining our pack." "She is our mate. Nothing he says will change that she was made for us." "Let's just humor him." Unlike Lorde, I had more control and oversight. He was quick to anger and faster to kill someone because he wanted to. Be dammed the consequences. I tried to reason, but it was going nowhere, so I shut him out. He hated it when I did that. I had to do it often, though, as he could be highly destructive.

"Just tell me where to meet you?" "He is in his office. It is on the first floor near the back of the packhouse." "I will find it, Reid. Thank you." "I will meet you there." I reached out to Jax through the bond. "Yes, Alpha." "Go find Daisy. She said she had to go to her room. I would guess it is somewhere in the packhouse, as she didn't say she was going home. But I can't be sure, so find out and keep an eye on her. I want her protected." "Yes, alpha." I felt better knowing someone was at least keeping an eye on her.

I found my way to the Alpha Conners office. Reid was already there. There was another man in there, I would assume Alpha Conners Beta. "What do you want to tell me about my mate," I snarled. I didn't like being summoned, which is what this felt like. "Well, there is much to discuss." "Spit it out," I growled. I was frustrated. Lorde was trying to break free and rip him apart, and I had to fight him. He was already extremely overprotective of Daisy. "Please, why don't we sit." He motioned for the two leather couches he had. I took a seat. Reid sat next to me.

"So?" I all but shouted. "Daisy, well, she is not someone you would want in your pack. She is not suitable to be a Luna." I growled at him. He was being disrespectful to her, and I wouldn't have it. "You see, she killed a pack member, and the repercussions also led another to die." I was taken aback. My little mate had killed someone. "What happened?" I asked. "She killed her father; he was my delta. Following her mate's death, her mother committed suicide." "Why did she kill her father?" I asked. There had to be a reason. "She said he was abusing her mother, hitting her and stuff. She said he would also get violent with her if she stepped in."

"Well, was he abusive?" "I couldn't tell you. Her mother never came to me about it. I do know he had a temper when he drank." "Well, did he drink a lot?" "I don't know? He did as he pleased when he was home. When we had parties, he would drink heavily and would pick fights. But Daisy is a lot like her father. She may look like her mother, but her skill in fighting is all her father. She is brash like her father, too. Hence, she committed murder at 10. He was a killer through and through, and she is no different."

Ten fuck, that is young. I didn't kill anyone till I was 17 years old. Ten is young. "Some gentle flower, our mate is a fucking badass," Lorde said. He was happy she was like him. I, on the other hand, was apprehensive. Not that I thought she was terrible or anything. If her father did what she accused him of, he deserved it. But if she was prone to anger and was destructive, we would have a problem. Lunas are typically loving and levelheaded. They evened out the alpha, and I needed that. But what if she only encouraged Lorde more, egging him on to be more destructive than he already was.

"Why didn't you execute her or make her rogue?" "She was ten. I am not heartless. She was a child, after all." I did give him credit for that. "Do you do anything to keep her temper down?" "We have shunned her. She is not permitted to talk to anyone other than necessary. No one talks to her either." "So, you exclude her." "No, she goes to school, goes to pack functions, training, even does some jobs in the packhouse. She just is not allowed to really interact with people." "You have isolated her," I growled. No one should be isolated like that. She would have no social skills if she was like her father. This could make the situation worse.

"I just thought you should know." "Has she ever done anything besides kill her father, or is that it? No other outbursts?" "No, she seems calm. I don't know if it is because no one makes her mad or just her demeanor. But I have seen her train, and she is lethal. If she should be like her dad, I don't know what that would mean. He was an okay Delta. I would give him that, but he was ruthless, and he had no compassion. I had to put him in his place constantly. He was given command after command to keep him and his wolf in line, or he would have become a monster. When she fights, I see her father. The same kind of ruthlessness and aggression."
