Chapter 7

The musical sound instantly spread out.

Fiona lowered her eyes, her fingertips moving with muscle memory, producing a melodious tune.

Many people were drawn to the music and gathered around her. The soothing music played behind him, causing Harold Klein, who was bored to death accompanying his mother and guests discussing business, to turn his head instinctively.

In the next second, his dull eyes instantly lit up.

Soft light fell on Fiona, her expression focused and devout. The light made her look sacred and inviolable.

At the same time, William, who had just entered the banquet hall, stopped in his tracks and quickly walked back.

He stared at her in a daze, as if he was looking back to that afternoon forty years ago when he first met his lover.

"Fiona can do this too?" Wyatt turned to ask Darwin.

In fact, Darwin didn't know that Fiona could play the harp either. This made him feel that Fiona was a stranger, incredibly distant from him. She was nothing like the person who had accompanied him for five years. The feeling of being deceived added to the gloom in Darwin's heart.

The piece ended. After a brief silence, applause erupted around them.

Fiona sighed in relief. She stood up gracefully and elegantly returned the gesture.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw William walking towards her.

But at that moment, two staff members from the cruise approached and asked, "Miss, can you show your invitation?"

Fiona was speechless, thinking, 'Check invitations inside the banquet hall?'

She saw Bella in the crowd not far away, looking smug.

It was almost written on her face that she was behind this.

Fiona was gloomy.

If Bella was here, where would Darwin be?

"Miss, please show your invitation!" Seeing Fiona not respond, the staff raised their voices and scolded her.

Darwin and Wyatt had already hurried downstairs and were walking towards them.

"Sorry," Fiona said awkwardly and helplessly.

A voice rang out from the back of the crowd. "She doesn't need an invitation."

Everyone turned to look at the source of the voice, including Fiona.

When she saw who it was, she was stunned.

Why was it him?

"Mr. Klein?" The two staff members were shocked when they saw who it was.

"What are you doing?" Harold asked with a frown.

"A guest just reported that this lady didn't have an invitation, so we were just doing a routine check," one of them answered.

"She indeed doesn't have an invitation because I personally invited her," Harold said sternly, "If you have any questions, ask me!"

"We wouldn't dare!" The two quickly waved their hands. "Miss, we're sorry. We were trying to understand the situation and didn't mean to affect your enjoyment of the banquet!"

"It's fine." Fiona shook her head.

"Get back to work." Harold waved his hand, still looking a bit displeased.

The staff quickly bowed and left.

Seeing the situation turn unfavorable, Bella had already hidden in the crowd, afraid that the two staff members would recognize her and cause her trouble in public.

The people around them started to gossip, seeing how Harold defended her. They were all guessing if Fiona was his girlfriend.

Bella's face turned pale, and she bit her lip hard.

Fiona had been with Darwin for five years and had just been dumped. It was impossible for her to hook up with the heir of a luxury jewelry group so quickly.

Fiona was also bewildered.

That handsome mixed-race guy turned out to be the star of today's banquet, Harold, the son of the Klein family. And he even helped her out of a tight spot.

'Wait! William!' Fiona hurriedly looked around, but the dispersed crowd showed no sign of William.

"Looking for something? Did you drop something?" Harold cluelessly followed Fiona's gaze, looking around.

"Fiona!" Bella's sweet and pretentious voice called out.

Fiona could confirm that the staff earlier were called by Bella, judging by her provocative look.

Her eyes trembled slightly as she looked over.

Bella was standing right in front, holding Darwin's arm.

"Mr. Solomon." Fiona nodded slightly, greeting him coldly and distantly.

Wyatt waved with a smile. "Ms. Woods."

Fiona glanced at him coldly and ignored him.

Wyatt fell silent.

Darwin looked at Fiona, then at Harold. He chuckled, "Ms. Woods, you move fast."

Fiona looked up at Darwin, her smile not reaching her eyes, "Mr. Solomon, you taught me well."

She was desperately trying to save the company's losses while he brought his new secretary to ruin her efforts.

"Mr. Solomon, a pleasure," Harold greeted politely.

Darwin ignored Harold and walked into the banquet hall with Bella.

Wyatt almost laughed out loud at Fiona's retort to Darwin.

Fiona, away from Darwin, was indeed a pleasant surprise.

With a smile on his lips, Wyatt followed Darwin into the banquet hall.

At this moment, a clear voice rang out. "Fiona!"

Harold's light blue eyes were filled with joy, and his tone was cheerful.

Fiona's irritated mood quickly calmed down. She couldn't help but smile. "Yes, my name is Fiona Woods."

"That's a beautiful name!" Harold said earnestly, "I'm Harold Klein!"

Fiona lowered her eyes, smiling as she tucked her loose hair behind her ear.

"By the way, did you sneak up here for something important?" he asked.

Fiona's tone was a bit regretful. "I came to discuss something with a senior, and I almost got to him just now."

The banquet was still long, and she would have another chance before William left.

"Who are you looking for? I'll help you!" Harold volunteered.

In Fiona's mind, everything had a price. She shook her head and declined, "Mr. Klein..."

"Call me Harold!"

Fiona was about to speak when William's bodyguard, the one who had just stopped her, walked over. "Miss, Mr. Newton would like to see you."
