Chapter 03 Male College Student
These people are my best friends. In my previous life, when my family was ruined by the love-crazed Charlie, they extended their hands to help me.
Although they couldn't defeat Charlie, their genuine care left a lasting impression on me. So, I told them that I wanted a divorce from Charlie. I didn't mention anything about being reborn.
After listening to my words, the three of them fell silent for a few seconds before applauding simultaneously. "Great! To celebrate Rose getting out of the love labyrinth, we won't return home until we're drunk tonight!"
"Cheers!" I also happily shouted, raising my pale and thin arms high.
It seemed like I could see myself free and unrestrained, running toward a new life after divorcing Charlie, leaving behind the tragedy of my previous life. With a bit of intoxication, the courage of the four women quickly swelled.
Yolanda patted my shoulder and said, "Rose, see if there's an attractive guy here. Don't be afraid, go for it! If Charlie can have flings all the time, why should we lose?"
"That makes sense." With my blurry vision, I swept around, finally stopping my gaze on a figure. Tall and skinny, he appeared young judging by his attire. A college student, perhaps? If Charlie can find a female college student for himself, then I can find a male college student too.
Holding my glass with unsteady steps, I walked over and patted the shoulder of the young boy. "Hey handsome, want to drink? I'll treat you..."
The young boy turned his head, looking quite handsome with a hint of a creamy young image. He first stared at me in surprise and then shook his head apologetically. "Sorry, I already have a girlfriend."
"Oh, I see. Sorry then, I'll find someone who doesn't have a girlfriend..." I deeply bowed to the young boy, with alcohol numbing my speech system. I didn't even know what I was saying.
I continued to search for potential candidates in a different direction.
But before I could take a few steps, I was tripped by someone's chaotic footsteps, causing me to drop the wine glass in my hand, shattering it into pieces.
Feeling dizzy and disoriented, I had a peculiar desire to fall asleep right where I was on the ground.
"I'll help you up!" A male college student extended his hand to me.
Sitting on the ground, I looked up at him, my face flushed and tears forming in my eyes.
"Why am I seeing illusions?" I thought. The face of the male college student transformed into Charlie's, coldly staring at me.
I tried hard to get up but ended up slapping my hand on the broken glass, causing blood to gush out. After being stunned for two seconds, everything went black, and I passed out.
"Rosalie, did you think your family could keep me away?" In my dream, I saw Charlie's cruel and icy face again.
I sat in the messy living room like a madwoman, crying uncontrollably.
Upon learning about Charlie's intention to divorce me, my parents and the elders of the Bennett family tried to persuade him.
But Charlie paid no heed to their advice. He obstinately continued on his path and suffered significant consequences by ruining the Harrison family.
The Bennett family, who initially opposed him and condemned him, were eventually forced to help him. Later, I heard they also accepted Lauren.
Under Charlie's unwavering protection, she gradually gained the approval of his parents.
The most critical factor was that Lauren was already pregnant.
"Charlie, I have loved you for ten years. Do you really have no feelings for me?" I covered my face, and tears trickled through my fingers.
"No, Rosalie. I gave you a chance for a peaceful separation, but you didn't cherish it." Charlie coldly told me, and then his phone rang with a special ringtone. Lauren's sweet and melodious voice filled the air.
"Mr. Bennett, please answer the call. Mr. Bennett, please pick up the phone!"
Listening to that sweet ringtone and watching Charlie quickly leave, I felt my world spinning, and my chest was in agony.
In the midst of suffocating pain, I suddenly woke up.
I was gasping for breath violently. Soon, I noticed that I was actually in my own bedroom, with the sun shining outside and the scent of flowers in the air.
Why did that college student bring me back to my house?
I glanced at my bandaged hand and then clutched my throbbing temples. I wanted to search for the presence of the male college student, but then I heard Charlie's voice coming from outside the door.
"You guys have fun. I'm not interested today." Leaning on the balcony railings of the second floor, with a cigarette between his fingers, his voice was lazy and his silhouette as languid as a pine tree.
Leaning against the doorframe, I saw him walking toward me and asked, "Where did you hide him?"
"Who?" Charlie furrowed his thick eyebrows.
"The male college student," I replied.
It was rare for me to meet a man, apart from Charlie, who made me feel good. I hesitated to let him go.
After all, in just one month, Charlie would have to face another responsibility.
I could at least choose a soul-comforting angel early on to alleviate my pain.
Upon hearing my response, Charlie's handsome face immediately filled with anger. He glanced at my outfit and then grabbed my wrist, dragging me into the bedroom's dressing room. "Damn it, change it! Who allowed you to wear something so revealing?"
I lowered my head and looked at my chest which only had a faint curve, thanks to the fabric's assistance. I didn't feel that term was suitable, especially since he didn't love me. Why should I care if I appear provocative to him?
"Charlie, did you really have an affair with that actress a couple of days ago?" I remained motionless, calmly asking him.
"It's none of your business," he replied as usual.
"Well, in that case, it won't be your business either if I choose to do my own thing," I said lightly.
After all these years without the nourishment of love, I needed some hormonal rejuvenation.
Being carefree felt comfortable, and I no longer needed to feel happy or sad because of Charlie. My soul was starting to return to my body.
Men are inherently hypocritical. They can fool around, while their wives must adhere to morality at home.
Charlie was no exception. He didn't love me, but I was still his wife in name.
"Are you planning to cheat on me, Rosalie?" Charlie sneered and then reached out maliciously, undoing my black deep V-neck. "What man would like this kind of figure?"
I looked down and saw that my chest was completely covered by the nipple covers, not showing anything.
These were the smallest size nipple covers.
I pushed away his hand and calmly fixed my clothes. "I'll start eating more. I'll drink more papaya milk and save up enough capital so I can have a few affairs myself."
"Rosalie, are you crazy?!" Charlie finally couldn't bear it anymore. He looked at me. "Did you take the wrong medication these past couple of days?"
The previous Rosalie was calm, generous, sensible, and considerate. How could she utter nonsense like this?
If my dad heard what I just said, he might have a heart attack.
But only by turning into a lunatic can I escape from Charlie, who is about to go insane himself. Without Lauren's appearance, he wouldn't divorce me.
Business alliances are never marriages based on personal preferences. Charlie is a rational person. Weighing the pros and cons is his specialty.
I really didn't want to go through the process of watching him fall in love with someone else again.
"Then let's get divorced," I proposed once more.
