Chapter 06 Don't Want to Be Involved

Ava finally recognized me. Her face flushed and paled alternately, and her gaze showed strong animosity. However, she didn't dare to provoke me actively.

I sat down with my mom and started complaining, "I didn't want to come today. It was Charlie who wanted me to accompany him. It's so boring."

"You, my child, this is an important matter. It's not a question of whether it's boring or not." Although my mom scolded me, her tone was very indulgent.

I glanced at Ava from the corner of my eye and continued chatting as if nothing had happened. "Yes, it's boring. By the way, mom, I asked Tim to hire a few housekeepers from a domestic service company. I suddenly want to gain weight. Charlie says I'm too thin, so I have to eat and sleep more."

Ava bit her luscious lip, seemingly enduring it with great difficulty.

"You did the right thing. You two live in such a big place, how can you handle everything alone?" My mom agreed with my decision.

"I just wanted to experience a life with him alone. Now I've had enough." I said ambiguously. After all, Ava was just a passing figure in Charlie's life, insignificant compared to someone like Lauren. I didn't need to think twice about her.

Ava suddenly stood up and hurriedly walked away.

Sophia followed closely behind, probably feeling embarrassed.

When the reception ended, I didn't want to go back with Charlie. I wanted to go back to my family and spend a few days with my parents.

"Well, I'll leave then." Charlie never cared about where I was as long as I didn't embarrass him.

My dad was still happily chatting with his friends, completely oblivious to the fact that the reception had already ended. My mom gave me the car keys and asked me to wait in the parking lot while she tried to restrain my dad's desire to chat.

I went to the underground parking lot with the car keys. When I found my dad's car and was about to get in, I saw Charlie and Ava tugging at each other.

Ava held onto Charlie's clothes, looking aggrieved. "You're so good to me, don't tell me there's no sincerity! I don't believe it!"

"Believe it or not, it's up to you. Just stop annoying me!" Charlie forcefully shook off Ava's hand.

That's just how he is. When he gets tired of playing, he turns his back on people.

Did Ava really think she was his true love just because he gave her an apartment?

From the corner of his eye, Charlie saw me. His impatient and disgusted gaze immediately fell on me, as if I were the one bothering him at the moment.

I quickly got into the car and locked the doors. If it weren't for waiting for my parents, I would have stepped on the accelerator and disappeared immediately.

Seeing me retreat, Charlie went crazy and headed straight toward my dad's car. He knocked on the window, and I could see him mouthing the words, "Come out!"

I frowned, shook my head, and responded with my lips, "No."

Then my phone rang. It was Charlie calling. "Rosalie, come out!"

"I don't want to get involved in your affairs with her." I looked at Charlie's angry eyes through the car window and replied.

I had made up my mind. If I couldn't divorce before Charlie met Lauren, then I would endure a little longer. Once he initiated the divorce, I would accept immediately and still receive a portion of shares from the Bennett Group. I wouldn't lose out.

In my previous life, Charlie only asked for a divorce after pursuing Lauren for a year, and he also confronted his family at the same time.

I couldn't bear the fight and entanglement with him for almost a year, resulting in failure.

After being reborn, I always wanted revenge, but that was a futile obsession. The previous life seemed more like a dream, while this life was the reality before the tragedy happened. I didn't want to turn into a mad person just for a nightmare in reality.

"Come out!" Charlie was very angry, probably because he had never seen me refuse him before.

Ava, with tears streaming down her face, walked over and stubbornly held onto Charlie's clothes, refusing to let go.

"She's at least a minor celebrity. Why is she clinging to Charlie like this?" I thought.

I seemed to see another version of myself, lacking the qualification to mock others.

Charlie glared at me fiercely, then firmly grabbed Ava's hand and took her to his own car. As I watched him drive away, I breathed a sigh of relief.

By the time my parents returned to the car, I was almost asleep.

"Why do you talk so much? Rose is exhausted from waiting!" My mom reprimanded my dad.

"Well, there's a project with a few issues that we need to review and approve. We definitely need to discuss it properly," my dad replied as he fastened his seatbelt.

I sat in the back seat, feeling drowsy all over.

In the past, whenever I dreamed, it was always about chasing after Charlie. Now, my dreams are about my previous life, as if God was afraid I would forget the tragedy I had experienced and frequently sent me reminders in my dreams.

"Mom, I want to eat pudding," I said to my mom. Seeing that I was sitting in the back, she sat back there with me, and I quickly held her hand and leaned against her.

The touch of a mother is so warm and comforting.

In my previous life, before I passed away, my parents wept beside my hospital bed, turning their hair white overnight, their sadness and desolation evident.

"It's so late. Do you really want me to make pudding for you?" My mom was annoyed.

My dad patted my hand and asked, "What happened today? Did you have a fight with Charlie? Normally, you don't come home for weeks or months."

"It's just that love had clouded my judgment, dad!" I grinned and said, "I promise to be a good, filial daughter from now on."

Since my infatuation with Charlie was known by many people around me, my mom was quite surprised to hear my words, and my dad was so shocked that he almost turned the steering wheel the wrong way.

My dad asked, "Don't you like Charlie anymore?"

I like him, but it doesn't affect my ability to let go. I can't keep this man in the end. He doesn't belong to me, he belongs to Lauren, that young, beautiful girl.

"Dad, we've been married for five years. It's not like I think about sticking to him every day. I just feel like I should do something else and not just revolve around him all the time," I answered honestly.

"That's reasonable. Charlie is always surrounded by scandals. I've grown tired of it!" My dad suddenly gained some confidence and expressed his obvious dissatisfaction with Charlie.

Earlier, my dad couldn't speak his mind because he knew I was deeply infatuated with Charlie. He was afraid that I would dislike him if he said anything.

I agreed, "Exactly, he's a scum!"

Then both my mom and dad started complaining about Charlie, expressing all their dissatisfaction with him. That's when I realized how much they had endured for my sake.

I felt heartbroken and guilty. I couldn't even lift my head.

When I returned home, it was late at night. I took a shower and went to bed. I'm not sure how long I slept for, but my mom knocked on my door. In a daze, I asked, "What's up, mom?"

"You said you wanted to eat pudding. I made it for you. Come and have some before going back to sleep, alright?" My mom said to me.

I instantly became wide awake. I sat on the bed and stayed stunned for a few seconds. Then I felt my eyes welling up with tears.

After being reborn, I hadn't cried yet, not even when I dreamt of the painful moments from my previous life. I had become numb to the pain. There was nothing I couldn't accept anymore.

But my mom made the pudding I wanted in the middle of the night, and I couldn't help but cry.
