Chapter 03 She Will Never Return

Winona felt a pang in her heart when she heard the words "separation." It was a sour and painful feeling. After getting married, Zachary would visit Regal Oaks only a handful of times each year, not much different from being separated.

"Anyway, it's only three months left. I don't think it's necessary for us to live together," Zachary said, staring at her for a few seconds with a mocking sneer. "I have the final say. Today, I'll have Dylan give you a two-hour break to move your luggage back."

Winona's refusal was interrupted by a knock on the door. Dylan reminded from outside, "Mr. Bailey, the meeting is about to start."

Zachary reattached his cufflink and said, "Go outside."

Winona remained unmoved, persisting, "Zachary, I'm not going back."

Zachary dismissed it, "How many times have you said that before?"

This wasn't their first argument, nor was it the first time Winona moved out. But every time, before long, she would move back in on her own.

Right now, Winona knew he didn't believe her. She couldn't be bothered to argue any further. Over time, he would understand that this time she truly wouldn't go back.

After leaving the office, Winona went to the restroom to touch up her makeup. The place where she had been pinched was indeed bruised.

After finishing her makeup, she was about to take her resignation letter to find the HR department when she heard someone calling her, "Winona, the printer ran out of ink. Hurry and replace it. We're waiting to use it."

She heard such instructions every day. As Zachary's personal assistant, she was only responsible for his daily life. But Zachary didn't treat her well; he made Dylan take care of everything. As a result, Winona gradually became a general assistant for the entire 36th floor.

"Winona, I called you to replace the ink," it was Jane, the person who usually had the least patience for her. She had ridiculed her earlier about breaking up with her wealthy boyfriend. "Even if you want to resign, shouldn't you have some professional integrity? You haven't officially left the job yet!"

"My job is to follow Mr. Bailey's orders and take care of his meals. By the way, are you now authorized to give orders on behalf of Mr. Bailey?" Winona retorted.

Although her position as a personal assistant seemed frustrating, it was highly coveted. The person in front of her just wanted to push her away and take her place personally.

Jane stared at her as if she had seen a ghost. "Winona, have you gone mad today? Taking care of Mr. Bailey's meals? When was the last time you saw Mr. Bailey actually eat the food you ordered?"

Thinking about the meals that were thrown away, Winona felt a sharp pain in her heart. The next moment, Jane threw some documents into her arms and said arrogantly, "Print twenty copies before two o'clock, Winona. Self-awareness is crucial."

Winona frowned and heard movement behind her. When she turned around, she saw Zachary and Dylan coming out of the office, his gaze meeting hers.

The man sneered and curled his lips, with the corners of his eyes and eyebrows all indicating one thing; if you can't even handle such a small job like being a maid, what confidence do you have to mention divorce to him?

Winona laughed in exasperation and threw the documents back at Jane in front of Zachary.

Before Jane could react, she heard the papers scatter on the ground. Winona turned and walked away, her voice echoing from a distance, "Jane, besides knowing your own limits, you also need to listen to others. I won't go change the ink or print the documents. If you have the guts, tell Zachary about me. And... he likes women with big breasts and no brains. You may be brainless, but your breasts are a little small."

Since she was about to quit anyway, she didn't care about offending anyone. Before leaving, she could curse him a bit. It was worth it!

Zachary's face immediately darkened, his thin lips pressed together in dissatisfaction.

Later, Winona went to the H.R department and submitted her resignation application. The manager glanced at it and said, "Winona, take this resignation application back. You are Mr. Bailey's personal life assistant, so his signature and approval are required before the H.R department can process it."

Winona didn't take it and spoke frankly, "I won't be coming tomorrow, whether it's considered absenteeism or leave, it doesn't matter."

The manager was stunned, "This is a breach of contract. Even if you resign, there should be a two-week handover period."

Was it necessary to hand over the job of taking care of his meals every day? Would he even eat if she handed it over?

Zachary probably would starve to death because she had tried every dish.

Winona shrugged, "Then let Zachary sue me."

After leaving the Bailey Group, she received a call from her best friend Rebecca Davis, asking her to go out for a drink. It was probably because she saw the news yesterday and was worried about her.

Feeling a bit tired, Winona declined and went back to the hotel. She went to sleep without even having dinner.

She was awakened by a knocking sound, feeling drowsy and disoriented. She looked at the time, it was 7:50.

Winona got up to open the door, and the person outside was the manager of this hotel. He smiled apologetically, "Hello, Mrs. Sullivan. There seems to be a problem with your room that needs to be repaired."

Winona didn't give him a hard time either, "Then give me another room."

With that, she was ready to go back to her room and pack her belongings.

But the manager said, "Sorry, there are no more available rooms. We have refunded your money to your card because it was our fault, and the penalty fee has also been deducted."

Winona paused for a moment. Zachary had told her to be back at the villa by 8 o'clock, and the manager came to rush her at 7:50. If she still didn't understand the reason behind it, then she would truly be foolish.

"This was ordered by that dog Zachary? I don't agree to check out!"

She couldn't control her temper for a moment and burst out angrily.

The manager didn't bother to hide it, "Mrs. Sullivan, we are just doing small business. Please don't make it difficult for me."

A small business worth over 14 million dollars?

Even if Winona didn't agree to check out, there was nothing she could do. The hotel was firm in its attitude and willing to pay the penalty fee. The workers who came to repair the circuit were standing at the door, claiming there was a circuit problem.

Failure to repair it in a timely manner may cause a fire.

Finally, Winona pulled her suitcase out of the hotel, and the Bailey family's car was already waiting outside. When Brian saw her coming out, he quickly got out of the car to help her with her luggage. "Mrs., Mr. Bailey asked me to come pick you up."

Winona avoided his hand and said, "Tell Zachary that I'm not going back."

With that, she turned and went to a nearby hotel.

Brian didn't stop her, and soon Winona knew why he didn't stop her.

The front desk of a nearby hotel returned her card. "Sorry, your card was restricted just now. Can I have another one?"
