Chapter 2

Continued from Chapter 1:

Luna P.O.V:

I ran as fast as I could into the forest. Why did not know body tell me? I had skilled my mother and my father had died because he lost his mate. My parents were Alpha and Luna, meaning I was next in line. And today I turned 18. No, I did not want that title. I could not do this alone. Not without my father or mother beside me. If she was a fairy, why didn't she take a spell and save herself? Crying out, in frustration, I ran harder to the lake they had taken me. It has been so long since I have been here but now, I just feel out of place.

I reached the clearing and I instantly wanted to go back. My memories were obviously coming back to me, and I was not too fond of what I was seeing. All the tantrums I had and the private sessions that my mother kept from my father when he was doing business. We used the lake every day for a quiet time so that I could focus and not risk dad coming inside. I looked in the water seeing that little girl staring back at me. I was alone because of me. I did this. I hurt my mother trying to save her but really, I was a monster. A freak.

I collapsed to the ground in shame. My tears are now running into the water. I had been looking at the water so long that I could tell which was my tears and what the water was. Then I realized my tears never dissolve in the water. Instead, it formed a circle traveling to the center of the water.

"What's going on?"

"I don't know but I'm fascinated." Jaymie called out.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked her, still following the tear water.

"I couldn't. Your mother made me promise?" she nudged me.

"My mother?"

"You shifted once. It was why she put you in a sleeping spell and I came out. We talked while you were sleeping."

"But I--"

"I know you're angry but don't be. She loved you more than anything and was glad that you weren't hurt..." she trailed off as the tear pool lifted out of the water and formed a ball.

We stared at it then. Silence and the trees were not moving any more.

"Luna..."

The tears spoke out to me.

"Luna..."

"How do you know my name?"

"I am your mother. I gave you that name." the tear called out to me.

"Mommy?" I jolted to my feet.

"I planted myself in your 18th birthday tears as I know Rose wasn't going to let another birthday go by without telling you anything. Baby girl, I love you so much, but you must listen to me. You are in danger. You have power like no other. It is bigger than mine. The fairy folk fears you. The wolves are not exactly thrilled to have you in their pack. You must go back to our home pack. Your father's pack. They plan to attack and since you're now 18, the fairies might come again..."

"Mom, again? what?"

"The pack is Midnight Moon Pack. Hence your middle name Moon. You are their heir, and they are waiting for you. Take the rest of the orphans with you..."

"Mom! What's going on?"

"I wish I had time to tell you. Or see you but I cannot. It is forbidden. I did things I wasn't supposed to, but I would never take it back." I saw her face looking back at me but around her at the same time.

"M..."

"Luna. Tell Beta code silver when you get back to the pack, okay? Your father's best friend was Beta, so it is his son now, but he is still alive. Speak to him firsthand. You must get there before the ceremony goes on. You might find your mate there but..."

"Mom, I'm a monster. I can't have a mate..."

"You are my strong daughter do you hear me?" She looked at me sternly.

"I ca---"

"Never say you can't until--"

"You try." I whispered our saying.

"Luna, I have to go..."

"McKinnley, what are you?"

The tear popped and dissolved in the water.

"Luna..."

"My mother is still alive."

"Are you sure?" Jaymie said.

"I'm positive. If it were back then, she would have been hurt. She did not plant herself in me. My tears just activated our connection. She is alive."

"But why she... She is in trouble." Jaymie said. We were both stunned in silence. So, I did not kill my mother, but she was captive.

"Why would the fairies attack again..." I trailed off.

"Luna. You are asking the wrong questions. It is when.... When they did atta--"

She went silent.

"Jaymie what?"

Then I felt her pacing and rustling in my head. "What are you doing?"

She said nothing. Suddenly, the image of the rogue hurting my mother played again. Us getting out of the house. The house was crumbling but also there was something on the side of us. People doing magic.

"Jaymie..."

"They used the rogues to attack. It was not a blood bath or a random attack. They were getting your mother and you..."

I gasped. Why would my mother people try to kidnap us? The powers we had.

"Come on, we got to tell Mama Rose." I raced back through the forest to the path I took but when we got to the end of the forest. The pack was under attack. I sniffed the air.

"ROGUES!" Jaymie said.

"The fairies found me." I spoke. Trying to avoid being seen I raced to the orphanage where all the orphans were in the middle of the living room. Opening the door with strength, I did not know I had, I moved the barricade things.

"Luna..." Mama Rose said.

"I'll explain on the way to the Midnight Pack or whatever they called but we have to go. Everyone."

"Luna, I'm scared." Kinsey said.

"I got you." I bent to pick her up. Suddenly the front door knocked off the hinges. Mama Rose pushed a force out of her.

I stared at her in awe.

"You--"

"We got to go Luna." she said looking at me.

Next thing I know is the wall where the front door was crushed and came off. I saw people with wings. Winged people.

"The fairies." Jaymie said.

"WE FOUND ALL OF THEM." one of the winged people shouted. Suddenly Kinsey held out her hands and blasted them all away.

"Kin--"

"Luna... They are all like you." Mama Rose said. "This orphanage has fairies and wolves mixed breed only. I would love to explain but we have to go."

Remembering what was happening, I had Mama Rose lead the way to my home pack. Midnight Moon. Then I was going to save my mother.
