Camilla watched from the balcony as people mingled around. When alpha Killan demanded that she be taken upstairs, she found herself led by the maids to a huge room, which she was told belonged to the alpha. It took her not more than two minutes to see the door that led her to the balcony, and she didn't hesitate to order a glass of juice and walk over there. From there, she could see everything going on down there. Although her eyes were glued to the millions of people who had gathered for the post-full moon celebration, she was only following two people. Cameroon and her stepmother, Karina. She sighed in relief after they were escorted to the gates without being pushed around. She had asked Alpha Killan not to do anything to them, and in return, she was to stay in the palace forever. That was the condition he had made, and she had no objection to it because at least she wouldn't be staying as a mistress but as his luna and wife.

She inhaled sharply when Alpha Killan's words that Cameroon was selling her to him echoed in her ears. She must have been stupid to believe that they would accept her as their daughter. How ridiculous of her! It was best that she turned out to be Alpha Killan's mate, or else she would have been somewhere in the small slave quarters waiting for her doom when she'd be satisfying the cruel alpha's sexual needs every day. When she realized that she was about to be sold, she thought that she would cry in pain for being betrayed, but she didn't. Maybe it was because she had been crying all her life and had turned numb to pain. The good thing was that she would never be going back to that house again. From then on, she was going to start a new life, and she would try as much as she could not to think of Cameroon, Karina, and the twins.

She wished that her mother could be there. She would have been very happy to see that her mate was such a powerful man. Growing up, Camila had heard how cruel Alpha Killan was, but the way he was interacting with her was very genuine and gentle. She even asked herself if the rumors were true or if people branded him as a cruel alpha because of how he treated people like her heartless father, Cameroon. Alpha Killan wanted to know who her real mother was because, according to his sources, Karina wasn't her biological mother, and she lied that she died of a grave disease that she had no idea of. She knew exposing Cameroon to banishing her mother from the pack just because she refused to get rid of her would have caused a huge problem. Who knows the tsunami that will hit them? Although they had done her wrong in the past, she still decided to protect them because she wasn't the one to avenge them but the moon goddess, and she had decided to live them for her.

"Where are you lost?" Alpha Killan asked, walking in. When Camila hummed in question, startled from her deep thoughts, Killan repeated the question for her, "Where is your pretty mind wandering to?" He had walked in there long ago, and he stood beside Camilla, hoping she would turn to face him in his presence, but she was lost. Lost in her own world, which left him wishing he could be there as well.

She sucked in a deep breath and turned to face him with her hands crossed on her stomach. "You spared them?" She asked.

Yeah, I did. You weren't expecting me to go back on my words, were you?" He winked, joining her in the balcony area. "Do you want to know why he wanted to sell you?" He asked while wrapping around her waist. Killan had thought she would demand to know the reason why her dad would want to see her, but she didn't bother to ask. He thought she would be broken, but she was calm as if nothing had happened. There weren't traces of pain in her eyes either. It's like the realization that Camerron was selling her was not new to her at all and that she had been expecting that since long ago.

Shrugging, she lifted her long dress, walking back to the room because it was getting cold. "Why would I want to know?" "The best thing is that I won't be going back there ever again, and that's enough." She slumped herself on the bed and laid on her back as she let the smooth mattress wrap around her slender body. How she had wished to lay her numb back on something comfortable like that. She rolled on her stomach and then sat up to face Killan, who had his orange eyes glued to her. "What?" she asked.

"Nothing." Alpha Killan cleared his throat and then sat beside her. "You know I have been waiting for this day for forever." "I nearly thought that my mate had rejected me, and that's why she never came." He chuckled.

"Well, I am here." Camilla shrugged, "but honestly, I have never thought that I'll one day have a mate." "I thought I was supposed to be a lone wolf."

"Lone wolf? How is that possible? Anyway, that's behind us now, and we shouldn't think about it anymore. I would like to know more about you if you don't mind." He traced his fingers on her cheeks, earning a surprised gasp from her. Finally, she felt the burning and tiggling sensation that she was too broken to feel earlier. "I'll go and take a shower." She excused herself, a red blush running from her exposed neck to her cheeks.

"Sure." Killan smiled, pointing at another room just beside the bedroom door. "Over there. I'll have the maids prepare something for you to wear." After she was done, Camilla walked in to find a yellow floral dress laid on the bed for her. She wore it, tied her hair in a messy bun, and walked downstairs to explore the mansion. She found two women standing beside the bedroom door who explained to her that they would be her personal maids from then on. She was also asked if she would want a room on her own or if she would share one with Alpha Killan, but she settled on having one of her own. She knew nothing about Alpha Killan, and until then, she decided they would stay separately.

She was mesmerized by the huge library downstairs, and she made a mental note to herself that she would be spending most of her time there whenever she was free. Killan had told her that after a week she would be introduced to the pack members as their Luna, she would be coronated the same day, and she would be given some of the Luna duties. Because all that was new to her, Alpha Killan had asked his Gamma Ray to guide her in every way possible.

"Luna Camilla," a calm voice startled her from behind. "I am Kayden." "The alpha's adviser It's really nice to finally meet you." The man with gray hairs on his head stretched his hand for a handshake.

"Hello there," she said, accepting the hand, "just call me Camilla, adviser Kayden." She flashed a sweet smile at him. She was used to the name Camilla, and she wasn't sure if she would get used to Luna.

"That would be disrespectful of me, Luna Camilla." He laughed, saying, "Please get used to the name because after your coronation next week, everyone will refer to you as Luna, not Camilla. I see you love books." He pointed at the book she was holding. Camilla, who was clutching a novel, laughed nervously, keeping the novel away. Adviser Kayden walked through the book shelves and drew one book out, which he handed over to her: "Here, Luna Camilla. Since you know nothing about leadership, I'll advise you to start by reading this book. It's all about the historical facts about this pack, and it has everything you should know. When you are done, come for another," he said, bowed slightly to pay his respect, and walked away.

Not long after the adviser had gone, her personal maids walked in to take her to the dining area because dinner was about to be served. "How fast the clock tickles by over here!" She murmured inwardly, handing over the book she was given by Kayden to the maid. After instructing the maid on where to keep it, she was led by another one to the dining area, where she found Alpha Killan and his parents waiting for her. "Here comes my Luna." Alpha Killan smiled, pulling out a chair for her. She never ate much during dinner because she wasn't used to eating. She knew that was her time to eat all the delicacies she was always denied at home, but she couldn't bring herself to stuff much on her stomach.

Alpha Killan's parents had taken her so well, and they had even admitted to being already in love with her. They even said they couldn't wait to see them married and living happily together. But they had mentioned someone who, according to them, was mannerless, and that they weren't going to accept her as the Luna of the pack, as Killan had wanted. Being curious enough, she had to ask, "So, who is this Alina Mellow?"

"She was my childhood best friend, and according to the priest, it was revealed to him that she is my second chance mate. So by any chance that you weren't to be here today, I was to get married to her." Alpha Killan explained.

"What of her mate? What would have happened to him if she were to get married to you?" She inquired, sipping some juice.

"Well, her mate came a long time ago. Apparently, when she was eighteen, she rejected him after a year because he turned out to be a traitor." He explained it to her.

"So, how was the chemistry between you two? Were you seeing each other because yesterday, or earlier today, when you said I was your mate, I heard whispers that you loved Alina instead?" She wanted to be sure of everything.

"Yes, we are dating, but I had no idea about you; trust me. The thing is, she'll be coming to the country next week, and I'll end things with her, okay?" He promised, squeezing her soft hands against his own rough ones. Bubbling her head up and down in agreement, Camilla excused herself to go to sleep, trying as hard as possible to ignore the hunch that Alina would be a problem. She had read in books how Alpha's girlfriends were heartless and would do anything to separate them from their mates, and he wished her situation wouldn't be the same! Do you think so, my reader, or is she lying to herself, and Alina would turn out to be the jealous type and would separate her from Alpha Killan?
