Chapter 2
A stale look wore on Noemi and Jacob's face. They were seated in the office of the family doctor, waiting for the result of the test carried out. They were impatient, but for what exactly? There came Dr/Mrs. Jane Avalon. Her face wasn't bright, it wasn't crude either.
"Here it is - your test result." She handed over a paper to Noemi. Jacob opened it up because Noemi refused to.
"Is it good or bad?" Jacob stopped halfway through opening the paper to ask.
"Please go on," the Doctor urged him.
"What does this mean?" he didn't understand anything written on the paper.
"Your wife has a block in her fallopian tube," Dr. Jane Avalon started. "There's an eight percent chance that she will not be able to conceive a child for you."
The cold look spread all around Noemi's face like a wildfire in the forest. She could not believe what she just heard.
They, Noemi and Jacob have been married for fifteen months without an issue. Jacob needed the assurance of having an heir. He needed to know that there would be someone to take after him when he's gone; just like him, his father.
"Calm down babe." Jacob tried to console Noemi.
"How do you expect me to be calm?" Noemi said with tears in her eyes. "How?" she asked again in pain.
"There are still clinical majors you can take, but your chances of conceiving a child remain slim." The Doctor also said.
"Let's just go home," Noemi said in a very quaky voice, she almost gave way to tears.
Noemi still decided to seek out expert ideas. She didn't want to give up that easily. Noemi knew that without a child, Jacob still valued her but with a child, he'll respect her more. At least that was her thinking.
After two weeks, she flew to Washington where she was to meet an expert in the field and also to increase her chances of conceiving a child.
"Ding Dong!" Ding Dong!" Jacob heard the doorbell ring.
"Lisa?" he questioned with a flick of surprise in his eyes.
"Yes, me." she wet her lips with her saliva and gave out a piercing wink at him.
"Why are you here?" Jacob asked.
"I just came by to say hi and check up on you." She let herself in despite Jacob's faint refusal.
She walked around him and seductively touched every bit of his body. "You like me, right?" she whispered from behind into his ears.
"Just stop this please," he beckoned to her in a very weak voice. Jacob was already feeling the chill down his spine. What made him a man was already calling for whatever Lisa had to offer.
"I - I - I just can't…" "Shh!" she hushed him to silence.
"Just bow to me now." She pulled his collar and sucked his tongue. "Is she as naughty as this?" She gazed at him with eyes saturated with lust.
"Please, let's just stop this." But he was moving along with Lisa up the stairs, heading to his bedroom. She took his shirt off and kissed his body in a very passionate way. Her tongue on his nipples was like heaven on earth.
"Nice?" she asked him. By this time they were on the bed, unclad. He stroked her breasts and listened in pleasure to her soft moans.
"This is the best muse you'll ever hear." Lisa sounded so confident in her whispers into his ear and that was enough to seal everything. The deed was done, they had fair shares of guilt. They never spoke about it again.
In a week, Noemi returned with renewed hope. She began taking some medications the doctor advised may increase her chances.
"Hey babe," she kissed Jacob.
"Welcome babe," he hugged her tight, coupled with the kiss they shared.
"Did you miss me?" She hugged and kissed him from behind.
Jacob was being eaten by guilt. He could not bear to look her in the eyes. At every opportunity, he tried to avoid eye-to-eye contact with her. "Yes, I did." He answered her eventually.
"We need to do as the gynecologist told me," She said, still holding him from behind.
"Do we? Or you just want me inside of you " Jacob spoke, smiling shamelessly like someone innocent.
Anyway, Jacob already made up his mind that he was not going to do it again. He felt ashamed of himself for real.
"What are you thinking about?" Noemi asked after noticing Jacob was absent-minded as they were having some bed discussions after their glorious moment.
"I just hope this works," Jacob said.
"It will baby, it will." Noemi had so much faith. She wanted it to work more than anyone else. Mr. Lionel Gareth called in already to express his support for them, especially Noemi.
"You sound so sure babe," Jacob smirked at her. She was lying beside him, with her head on his chest. He kissed her head with so much affection:
"We'll get through this very soon babe," he said to her. "Let's trust in God."
"Where's that coming from?" she looked at him with surprise. "He wasn't so much of a religious person, he always said things happen because they should and not because of any divine intervention.
"Please promise me that you'll never leave me," he said to Noemi.
It sounded a bit weird, also because of how his voice dwindled when he spoke. Noemi still said it to his satisfaction:
"I promise to love you forever." She said it with so much love.
"Vroom! Vroom!" Jacob's phone rang.
"Excuse me please," he asked for privacy to take the call. Who was it? Lisa.
"I have to discuss something with you Jacob." She sounded so urgent over the phone.
"What is that?" Jacob asked with utmost curiosity.
"I'll need to tell you in person, face to face." She still kept him hanging in the balance.
"When?" he asked, peeping out of the toilet.
"Tomorrow, same place. I'll text you the time."
"Okay, " Jacob agreed.
What was Lisa going to say to him, and why was it so important that she wanted to say it to him in person and not over the phone?
