CHAPTER TWO

Anna’s POV

“Till when are you going to keep spoiling her?, You need to make her understand that we are not her puppets". I heard Rydel blurt out to Daniel, throwing a dart at the wall.

Eavesdropping was a habit I had adapted after I became queen. I always wondered what my advisors thought about me and from the lot I heard, they didn't like me.

I met Daniel at the age of twelve, my family had come for a marriage agreement. And that day was the first time I laid my eyes on him. He had this charming yet indifferent look on his face.

“I have no interest in marrying someone like her, she is below my expectation," I remembered him stating.

“It's pointless to engage with him either, I will not marry a man who thinks little of me!" I rudely spat out leaving their presence immediately.

But instead of leaving his family's pack mansion, I went on to look for him and luckily, I found him in the garden.

“Do you mind if I stay here with you?" I asked and he shook his head.

“What is your name?, I'm Anna my mother named me after her great great grandmother. I heard she was feisty and arrogant just like me. But I don't mind, one day I will become queen and everyone will bow to my command", she declared “Will you serve me when I become queen?", I stupidly said and he looked at me with disinterest.

“You lack in standards and modesty. I will only serve you if you prove to me that you won't be a waste of my time," He muttered before walking away from me.

Every day, I went to his house challenging him to a fight. And each time we fought, he graciously won me.

“How long are you going to keep up with this? It's impossible to beat you and you know that" I screamed at him, and for the first time he laughed out loud.

“Failing countless of times means you are nothing but a waste of time but accepting defeat means you can be rational. So I will put my bet on you and take my time to serve you but if you make the slightest mistake then forget having my assistance." He said my eyes glittered in admiration for him.

“I might not be good enough but if I have your support then I can be certain to make the right choices. Please, show up for the appointment ceremony. I will be glad if you keep to your words ", I boldly muttered to him feeling satisfied that I could get his assistance something no one could easily get.

After that day, we didn't meet again until I clocked eighteen. By then, he had become an Alpha of his pack.

“She will learn with time." Daniel defended me while Rydel scoffed at him.

“He will be returning to today. I fear those scars will be resurfaced", Sullivan reminded me.

I moved away from them when I noticed the shifting sounds of Daniel approaching the door. I zoomed off to my room to avoid being caught although I knew it was pointless when Daniel was involved. He knew every inch about me like the back of his palm.‘If they didn't like me why then did they accept to be my advisors'. I muttered within me as I fell on my bed looking up at the ceiling.

“May I come in?" I heard Daniel say after he gave a gentle knock on my door.

“Yes, you may". I replied.

He turned the door knob open with his eyes closed I usually did stupid things to get his attention.

Ever since he refused my proposal, I always came after him playing little naughty pranks on him.

“You should know I have outgrown that by now," I said placing my hands on his cheeks. “What is it you want", I asked stepping away from him.

“It's your birthday tomorrow, I was wondering if there was anything you would like me to do before tomorrow," He inquired closing the door behind him.

“Do you think he would come? I know he hates me but what I did was for the best right?" I asked wanting his reassurance and comfort on what I had done to one of my advisors.

“I doubt he would and if I were him, I would surely hate you," he replied dashing my hope.

“Leave if you won't support me. I know I wasn't wrong for what I had done. It was him who refused to listen to my rule and nothing more ", I yelled at him pushing the porcelain vase beside me. It shattered to pieces bruising some parts of my legs.

“The way you shattered this Vase is the same way you shattered his chance to a better life. And I know you are hurt but you keep standing your ground never apologizing," he calmly said lifting me off the ground in a bridal style.

“But I..., He should have just listened to me", I whined as he kept me on the bed hovering over me at the same time.

“How would you feel if I had smashed one of your belongings and threatened to end your life if you ever disobeyed me?" He asked looking at me intently wrapping his hand around my neck not attempting to strangle me but to get my reaction.

“I will get mad and lock you up", I answered.

“Now that's how he would feel after what you had done. He ended his one chance to happiness so atone for your sins in every possible way until the day he decides to forgive you," he told me and I looked away from him hiding the tears that brimmed in my eyes. Daniel always had a way of making me regret my actions.

“I didn't mean to hurt him, I was just doing what I thought was right. Why won't he understand that he belongs to me? I should be his priority, I should be his only focus and he should serve only me and no one else, " I greedily stated and he got off me enraged by my words.

“If that's how you feel then there is no need for me to stay beside you," he mentioned leaving the room before I could call out to him.
