CHAPTER FOUR

Anna’s POV

Throughout the night, Daniel was in my arms. We couldn't get enough of each other. His kissing, touching, and words of whisper made me flush as I dabbed my face with powder.

Today was my birthday, another day I would come in the presence of the moon goddess. The council would be present eager to hear the wise decision of the goddess. But I didn't bother anymore, Daniel was mine now and I was sure the goddess would realize too.

“Happy birthday my heartbeat", Alex wished me with a bright smile on his face.

“Thank you but I'm not your heartbeat. You wouldn't like it if I was," I said moving past him but he pulled me back and kissed me. My eyes widened from his action and out of reflex, I slapped him.

I staggered away from him my chest burning with so much emotion. “I'm sorry for my impromptu behavior. I just don't understand the emotions I keep getting starting from last night," Alex explained to me looking confused and helpless at the same time.

There were times Alex would joke around but this time it felt different. This attraction was pulling me to him. Urging me to claim him as mine, tardily I moved towards him and dug my teeth on his skin. Leaving a visible mark of acclimation on his neck.

Heaving breathlessly, I pulled him closer to me and kissed him back like he did to me “You are mine now," I whispered between our kisses.

“I don't think Daniel would like that," He said and I looked up from him meeting Daniel's eyes instantly.

“Daniel", I quietly called but he walked away refusing to answer me.

“I'm yours now so why chase after him? You should focus on me not him," Alex stopped me with his words making me realize what I had done.

“He is mine too," I told him freeing myself from his grip. I ran after Daniel only to meet him with someone I had least expected to see.

Terri Clark my sixth advisor, stood at the entrance of the mansion looking as gentle as he has always been.

I searched his eyes for signs of hatred but found none. ‘He should hate me for what I had done to him in the past. Why is he always gentle? He shouldn't have shown up for my birthday. Was he not angry with me? What was I going to say to him? Was he just pretending in front of others with those gentle smiles of his? He should hate not...' I battled within myself hoarding a lot of emotions inside.

“Happy birthday Queen Anna," he brightly said standing in front of me.

“You shouldn't have come," I silently mumbled before leaving the lobby.

Daniel refused to see me no matter how many times I called him up to my room. He didn't follow me to the council meeting I had in the morning. Now it was afternoon, a few hours before my birthday banquet.

I wanted to see Daniel badly, I had marked Alex right in front of him. Something I had done to him last night. The fact I had no control over my urge was more confusing.

I had marked Alex because of the primal urge I felt to claim him. The pull felt so strong and oppressive making it irresistible for me to avoid my action.

“Your majesty, your dress has arrived. And Sir Daniel wishes to see you," I heard a maid say behind the door. I rushed up from my bed and opened the door and Daniel was standing behind the maid.

“Daniel," I called him but he ignored me and walked into my room with a wrapped box in his hand.

“Terri asked me to give you this. He wished well and you ignored him regardless of how worried you were that he won't show up today," He said dropping the box on my center table.

“Is that all you want to say to me? You won't question my behavior with Alex?" I purposely asked wanting his honest opinion on my action.

“Is there something you want me to say? You claim everyone in your mansion as yours," He replied indifferently.

"I claim? I have always chased after you all, you could label me as possessive. " I screamed within me clenching my fist with so much anger.

“You should yell at me, I ask me why I marked him, you should be jealous of what I have done and..."

“And what, Anna?" He gently asked holding my gaze.

“I don't know", I said defeated with overwhelming emotions.

“It's almost time for your banquet. Get dressed for your birthday party, after that, we will talk," He held my face caressing it gently.

“Happy birthday my Queen," He wished me before leaving the room.

I sat on the floor overwhelmed with emotions just like when Daniel first met me.

After he had refused my request of being beside me, I took it upon myself to improve. Before my mother visited his family, I had heard a lot about him and his mischievous acts. I wanted someone like him beside me something that no ruler would reason.

The meeting with his family was based on marriage but I had refused him insisting that he became a loyal servant beside me. However, he rejected my offer until I turned eighteen.

I had worked so hard to reach his standard but failed the most important thing he had expected. I was not the kind of Queen he pictured me to be. I was too selfish and ambitious to meet his expectations.

I went into my bathroom and had a shower, once I was done, three maids came in to assist me get ready.

“The dress, who picked it out?" I asked looking at it in the mirror.

“Sir Daniel, your majesty," she answered.

I couldn't resist the blush that crept up my face. The dress was to my taste, green as my eyes, and designed elegantly.

The dress made me look powerful hugging every inch of my body in the right manner. The thought of him envisioning me as his powerful queen made my heart flutter.

‘Flutter?," I questioned myself as I looked at the mirror. ‘Impossible' I thought taking a final look at myself before leaving my room.
