Chapter Ten: Unanswered Questions
Carina's POV
The same werewolf that came to take you away before somehow convincing you that you had to work with them came around with another werewolf to warn me to get another place to stay, saying that I was not safe staying in my home. It sounded so much like a threat, but I'm not going anywhere", Bella said.
"You could have at least listened. See what happened last night. You could have gotten really hurt", I said.
"I was only coming back from work. Besides, why are you so worried about me? You are the one that got hurt", Bella said.
"Your house is close to the city's gate. You should actually find somewhere else to stay", I said.
"Why? Because of some shitty werewolves? No," Bella answered.
"Why are you being like this? I had a bad feeling about you last night; that's why I rushed to find you, and truly, you were in danger", I said.
"You are not the only one that can be stubborn", she said, and I knew what she meant.
"You know—wait, Linda, and who came to warn you to live somewhere else?", I asked, suddenly realizing that I had left that part out.
"How would I know? She just had this red hair, and she had freckles", Bella said. The description pointed straight at Charlotte. But why would Charlotte come all the way with Linda to warn Belal to move to another location? What were the free packs playing at?
"And she looked really evil", Bella added.
"You mean Linda?", I asked.
"Oh no, not the first one that came looking for you. I mean, the red-haired one; I don't like her", Bella said.
Charlotte looked evil. That was a piece of information that was not exactly true. Charlotte did not look evil, even though there was a chance that she was indeed evil. If Bella knew that Charlotte was my trainer, she would certainly have my head on a platter.
There were so many unanswered questions that I had never asked but now really needed answers to.
"I have to go, Bella,", I said, getting up from the bed.
"Have you gone crazy? You want to go back there?", Bella asked.
She should have known better than to think I would not go back. "Yes, of course I am going back. I don't care if I'm crazy; I need to get the revenge that Anderson needs."
"I hope you heal before it's too late", Bella murmured loud enough for me to hear. She knew there was no way she could convince me not to go back.
"You should totally consider changing your location", I advised. I was starting to think that I had more enemies than I had imagined.
"Not a chance", Bella said.
"Then you would leave me no choice but to run over anytime that I need that you are in danger", I said. She smiled, and I smiled back at her.
I headed back to Vilinus, thinking of the perfect explanation that I would give when I returned, but on arriving at the gate, I met Charlotte.
"I was just on my way to look for you, Carina; I didn't see you in your room", she said, smiling. I did not say a word to her until we got to my room.
"I thought you were sick", I said to her.
"Yes, I was", she said.
"I went to your room yesterday, and I did not find you", I started flatly.
"That was because I was receiving treatment somewhere else. You, on the other hand, ran away at night to God knows where, and it's obvious that you got hurt", she said with so much concern in her voice and eyes, but I was not in the mood to buy all that.
"I am okay. But do you mind explaining to me why you and Linda had to warn my friend to change her location?", I asked.
"Oh, that was where you were last night", Charlotte said, looking down guiltily. "Look, I was just trying to protect you and your friend. You are with the free packs now, and you would certainly have tons more enemies than you had before from the real packs who would be watching you. So, if you keep meeting with Bella, especially at unholy hours, she would be in grave danger, and so will you."
"So basically, you told Bella to change her location so that I wouldn't meet with her anymore", I said.
"If you have to put it that way, yes, for your safety and hers. I even tried hard to sound scary just to convince her to move to another place", Charlotte said.
'Tried hard to sound scary.' That explains why Bella said she looked evil.
"And I'm sure she's the one that you met yesterday", she added. I did not reply. She did not ask a question, but then she was not completely lying. I did meet her yesterday, but I also met an alpha who looked very familiar.
"Right?", Charlotte asked, snapping me back into reality.
"What?", I asked, blinking multiple times.
"Bella, your friend was the one you saw yesterday, right?", she asked again. Oh, right, she had asked a question.
"Yes, she was", I replied, and before Charlotte could utter a word, I beat her to it. "The alpha from the real packs looks a bit like Christos. Do you know him?"
"Are you talking about Conall?", Charlotte asked.
The name certainly sounded familiar. "Yes, I think he is the one. What is his relationship with Christos?"
"So many questions", Charlotte said, rolling her eyes.
"Just answer this question, please", I said.
"And if I do answer this question, you will not ask another question. Agreed?", she said.
"Yeah, sure", I said, and then in my head I added, 'For now.'
"Theyare brothers, half brothers to be precise, and they hate each other", Charlotte said. "How do you know Conall? Did you have an encounter with him while you were still a member of the real pack?"
"I met him yesterday at the peace meeting", I answered.
"Okay, that is good. Whatever you do, avoid him at all costs. He is the craziest alpha of all time and would not waste an opportunity to kill you mercilessly. If he ever tries to approach you, please run and report him to Christos."
Well, I think he wasted one opportunity—
