Chapter Eleven:Flower shop
Carina's POV
I strongly believed that I was getting stronger because each time I trained with Charlotte, other members of the free pack would stop to watch me in amazement. Some had learned that I was an Omega and were probably not so happy that an Omega was this strong. Charlotte had made me stop using weapons to fight, so I had to fight with my own strength. Sometimes I got wounded, and a few times I did not, but I made sure to injure Charlotte each time we fought to prove that I was strong.
"I see that you're a fast learner", Linda said. She had come to the training ground, and I had not even noticed because I was too focused on the fight with Charlotte.
"How come you weren't trained like this when you were a member of the real pack?", Linda asked.
"I—Uhm—", I said, thinking of a valid reason. I guessed that I was not really a born fighter, and nobody forced me to train because of my supposed father, Baldar. He was more focused on making me a beautiful Luna that would get married to an alpha, which was part of the reason I was not permitted to be openly in love with Anderson, and Anderson was getting bullied all the time; he was a beta. Even though I had not agreed on the marriage of an alpha part, I agreed on the no forceful training part. The only reason I took training and fighting so seriously now was because I needed revenge for Anderson, and the only way to go about that was to be stronger through training.
"No reason", I answered, finally giving up on thinking of something more reasonable.
"Hmm, since you are getting better at fighting, do you want to train with me? Let's fight one round to see how much you have learned,", Linda said.
"No, I'm not ready", I said without thinking. I was suddenly feeling very sweaty for no reason. This was not my usual fight with Charlotte or just any woman, but a fight against the strongest Luna/female alpha of the free packs.
"I'm not the strongest Luna here, so you stand a chance of giving me a few bites", Linda said as though she read my mind. She smiled, like that was supposed to make me feel better.
"Who is the strongest, Luna?", I asked. That was what had gotten my attention instead. If Linda was not the strongest, who was? I was surprised she did not consider myself the strongest. I mean, the few times I saw her fight, I knew she was awesome and super strong.
"My cousin Cora is a strong warrior who attacks mostly betas and easily kills them", Linda replied. Attacks mostly betas? What if she was the one who killed Anderson? I mean, I could not directly ask any of them who killed Anderson because that would be suspicious, but that statement was a good lead to finding out who exactly killed Anderson on the battlefield that day.
"Uhm, may I meet with her? Is she on the training ground right now?", I asked.
"No, she's in the flower shop protecting her flowers", Linda said. "Do you want to meet with her?"
Flower shop? What was a warrior doing at a flower shop? "Yes, I do."
"Then first, you have to fight against me", Linda said, a smile still pasted on her face. Long story short, I lost, and I lost woefully. I got bit so many times that it was a miracle that I was still able to walk after I transformed back into my human form. Linda was a harsh fighter; I didn't need her to pity me anyway; I just had to take note and be extra cautious next time. She and Charlotte helped me clean my wound, gave me food to eat, and thereafter Linda took me to see Cora as she had promised to.
She took me to a flower shop still in the free pack's part of the city, which I never knew existed. Vilinus was a really big city.
"Who do we have here? Oh, an Omega, Linda, this is an Omega", Cora said, smiling. I found her smile weird; no one was happy enough to smile when they saw an "Omega" except Bella.
"Please have a seat", she said to me and Linda.
I sat wondering how she was able to notice I was an Omega at first sight.
"I can't sit with you guys; duty calls", Linda said to both of us, and to me, she asked, "You would be able to find your way to the room from here, right?"
I nodded. "Sure."
"Being married to a leader makes you take on leadership roles as well", Cora said. She must have been referring to my cousin, but that was not where my interest lay.
"How did you know that I was an Omega at first sight?", I asked.
"Your eyes. They are too pretty and unique to be an alpha, beta, or gamma's eyes. Besides, Linda had told me before that she would bring an alpha to the free packs soon, though for some time I did not believe her."
Oh, did she now —
"What do you mean? Why didn't you believe?", I asked.
"Don't you know that you are the last of your kind?", she asked.
"I do", I said flatly. "But I don't fully understand what you mean."
"I thought all the omegas were dead. In fact, my predecessors were Omega hunters—"
Interesting.
"You know Omegas were banished for being arrogant and defiant."
In my head, I screamed, 'LIAR! ', and I tried as much as possible not to let that slip out of my lips; luckily, it did not.
"So, they were mercilessly killed, but I don't know how a tiny group managed to escape. They were dying and going extinct, but somehow you are here. I wonder why no one has tried to kill you yet", she said.
Hearing about the death of your kind as though it was a pretty normal or good thing hurt, but now was not the time to let emotions take the best of me. After all, a lot of werewolves want me dead; an alpha even tried to kill me nights ago, but I was not going to say that.
"So you aren't following after your predecessors; you are now focused on attacking betas", I said, then quickly added, "Linda told me."
Cora chuckled. "Well yes, I attack mostly the betas from the real packs. They are the main hypocrites. Trust me when I say that they are the most wicked werewolves, more wicked than the alphas, even if the alphas behave more vile."
I could not have agreed more, but Anderson was not like that, and Cora could have probably killed him. An idea suddenly popped up in my head. "I want you to train me, Cora. I want to learn your ways and techniques for fighting."
