Chapter 13: Him,Her

Carina's POV

I had no idea why he had asked that, but I passed anyway, or at least I thought I passed because he allowed me to pass without asking me any more questions. I had mentioned tulips as the answer to his question; of course, it has to be Cora's best or at least one of her best flowers for her to tell me to look for it so late at night at least. I did not think too much about it; I had tulips to find, and luckily I knew where they were.

Throughout my little journey to get the tulips, I was not attacked by any werewolves, even though I sighted some of them. Maybe they could not identify me as an Omega, or they were gammas that did not really care. Just as I was about to peacefully grab the tulip and leave, I heard howling. I looked in the direction where I heard the howling and then at the sky thereafter. Damn it! Cora had definitely set me up; it was a full moon. Almost immediately, I saw about five werewolves appearing from nowhere and coming towards me, looking ready to devour me. They looked so fierce and strong, I knew it was finally over for me. Yes, I would have loved to beat their asses up, but I was not ready to defeat five beasts at once.

They came closer and closer, snarling. I could feel them grinning underneath. They definitely spotted me as an Omega or trespasser. Well there was nothing to lose right? I snarled back, trying to look as aggressive as I could, even though I was sure this would be my last night. My snarling seemed to have triggered one of them because he or she launched towards me, scratching my face, and when it tried to bite my neck, it scratched its face back. I was not going to die without putting up a good fight. All five of the werewolves were about to pounce on me to devour me when two other werewolves came out from the blues. One immediately pulled one of the werewolves and flung it away, then almost immediately launched into another, giving it a deep bite, while the other werewolf pursued the three werewolves left. The werewolf that had beaten the other werewolf left it almost dead, then turned to his human form. It was him.

The second werewolf that came to my rescue changed to human form, and it was Emily. What was she doing with him?

"Emily, I am good. I need you to leave", he said. They both recognized me; at least that is what it looked like.

"I don't feel obligated to leave. It's the full moon, and you could run wild", Emily said.

"Emily, you are my assistant, not my chaperone or boss. I will not have you insult me by trying to act like my boss. Leave this place at once", he said in a terribly low and dangerous tone. He was not talking to me, but I felt chills run down my spine. I felt threatened.

Emily looked at me and even though it was really dark, I could feel her eyes boring holes into my body. She looked at me for about a minute before she decided that it was truly best to leave because Conall was dead serious about her leaving.

When she was gone, he turned to look at me, giving me a more dangerous look than Emilh had given me. I thought I was free; it turns out that I was toast. "What are you looking for in this territory? You are an Omega, and you are supposed to be dead", he said.

I tried as much as possible not to say anything offensive, even though I was annoyed. After all, he just saved my life, and all I had to do was answer questions, I hoped.

"I came to get tulips. I was going to head back out after collecting the tulips", I said. I know that sounded stupid, but it was the truth.

"Are you okay? You came to get tulips by this time during a full moon when you were an outcast and clearly unwanted. You do know anyone from here can kill you, right?", he asked. Was that a hint of concern?

"Not if I kill them first", I joked, but he seemed not to have gotten the joke.

He scoffed. "You are too confident for a werewolf that is weak."

As much as anybody was ready to tag me 'weak', I was sure to be confident, just like he had admitted, and it was finally time to stop all the long talks.

"You were the one that tried to attack my friend and then attacked me for saving my friend outside Vilnius the other day, right?", I asked.

Conall's POV

It was going to be the full moon again, and just like everyone expected, I was going to go wild, so I was followed around by Emily. I wondered why King Darius had to humiliate me this way. He had to make a female beta follow me everywhere, and it was very irritating.

Tonight, I honestly did not want to run wild, even though I was not in control of my wildness at times. All I wanted was to be given the opportunity to speak to that omega. I had no idea why I wanted to speak to her, but I just wanted to. She had always been on my mind, but it was tougher to keep her off my mind after I had bitten her that night. The tears I saw from her eyes and how beautiful she looked when she transformed into her human form I did not know if I was running crazy, but I thought about her so much that it almost consumed me. I was never like this, and thinking this way made me scared. That night I stayed around till the next morning just to know she was safe with that human girl; turns out she knew the human girl anyway. I did not know the feeling I had for her, but I wanted to find out.

The full moon came soon after, and I switched to my true form, trying as hard as possible to control myself from running wild. I would not have tried controlling Emily if she was not following me around. Each time I tried to attack a werewolf, she came in to defend, and since I could not attack her, the werewolf I tried attacking always got away. This was all Christo's fault. He would have been a responsible person if he were not such a coward. Now that he was not here, I had to be the responsible one.

There was no need for me to stay where there were plenty of werewolves; I had to go somewhere you would be too tempted, somewhere where werewolves were scarce, so that I would not have that deep urge to attack them. I moved to where the bushes, and soon I began hearing the rustling of leaves. I followed the sound of the rustling quietly, and Emily followed me quietly as well.

Then I saw five werewolves ganging up against her, the beautiful omega. Normally, I would not have cared if a werewolf wanted to attack the other, but who did they think they were trying to attack the omega that I wanted to have a conversation with?

I saw the first werewolf try to attack her; it scratched her pretty face, and I was about to run out of my hiding spot to pounce on it when I saw that she gave it a taste of its own medicine by scratching it back at the face. A fierce Omega! She truly was stubborn and fierce; I knew that from the peace meeting when she talked back against Baldar. She was interesting. But no, I was not going to admit that to anyone. It was sort of amusing watching her act fiercely, so I stayed back to watch a bit of drama, but once I noticed it was not going to be a fair fight, I swung into action, rushing in to push off one of the werewolves and biting another deeply, being mindful enough not to kill it. Luckily for me, Emily did not try stopping me; instead, surprisingly, she helped me; she scared the other werewolves off. At the end, all the werewolves ran away, including the ones I had bitten. At least I left them alive enough to limp away; I needed a reward for that.

I turned to look at the Omega, who was already looking at me. The way she looked at me, I needed her looking at me like that, especially when I was on top—darn! What was I thinking?

"Emily, I need you to leave", I said to Emily without bothering to look at her; my eyes were still fixed on the Omega.

"I don't feel obligated to leave; it's the full moon, and you could run wild", Emily said. She knew how to step on every nerve, and it was very difficult for me not to kill her.

"Emily, you are my assistant, not my chaperone or boss. I will not allow you try to act like my boss. Leave this place at once", I commanded, now turning to look at her. I was really angry and ready to make Emily regret being my assistant if she refused to leave. From the corner of my eyes, I could see the little Omega was scared. Yes, baby, you should be, especially when I bend you—I shook my head; I had to focus. Emily looked at the Omega for a while, hesitating to leave as I ordered her to, but she finally left.

When I was sure she was gone and not staying around to spy on me, I turned back to the Omega. I did not know her name, but I was sure that I had heard it in one of the city's gossips, but I was never a fan of gossip; hence, I did not get her name.

"What are you doing in this territory? You are an Omega, and you're supposed to be dead", I said in a dangerous tone.
