Chapter Seven:Peace meeting

Carina's POV

"I heard some werewolves talking about a peace meeting. What was that?", I asked, fighting with the beta werewolf, Charlotte. She was assigned by Linda to be my training partner once I accepted to join the free packs. It was not a tough decision to make because this was my opportunity to join the free packs, which I would not have I follow some ridiculous rules that the werewolves from the real packs followed, and it was also a chance to take revenge on the alphas that thought they were all that mattered—the betas that had bullied Anderson to his death, the betas/members from the free packs who had probably killed Anderson, and Dolores, who was supposed to be a good mother but lied to me all my life.

Well, both Christos and Linda, the leaders of the free packs, knew about my revenge plan for the real packs, but they did not know that I had something in store for the free packs as well. I was not exactly sure how I was going to take revenge, but I had agreed with myself to study the free packs and real packs and get stronger before deciding what to do next. I was in the free pack's territory for three days, sword training with Charlotte. She insisted on training me with a sword first before telling me that it would help me to be a better fighter.

She looked at me before answering my question while still attacking me with her sword. I was a fast learner, so I did not get wounded like I did on the first day. "The peace meeting is a meeting between the free packs and the real packs that does not involve fighting. We have each other a lot, but this particular meeting, which happens once in a while, does not include violence. Instead, the two packs will try to come to an agreement on some things and try to resolve some issues."

I expected her to eye me the way she was doing now. Although she had always been friendly to me from day one, I was not friendly to her excuse; she was a strong beta pack from the free packs and was one of Anderson's killer suspects.

"You should come", she added.

"What?", I asked, pretending to not understand what she meant.

"For the peace meeting, You should come", she said.

"No, I don't think I want to", I said, fighting harder, but she was a skilled swordsman, so it was very difficult to win her. If I were being honest, I would say she was being easy on me, and it was pretty obvious.

"I insist that you go to the peace meeting. I will go with you", Charlotte said, smiling. Honestly, I did not want to go, but at this point, what choice did I really have?

The peace was to take place later in the evening, so I was dressing when I heard a knock on the door. I rushed to open it, thinking it was Charlotte, but when I opened the door, it was Christos.

"I'm sorry; I shouldn't have come here. I should have sent my wife", Christos said, turning his back on me. I noticed I was partly dressed. Shoot! For a moment, I thought I was done dressing. The main reason I opened the door in the first place was because I thought it was Charlotte because she was the only person who bothered talking to me much, and she was supposed to follow me for the peace meeting. Linda also talked to me a few times, but Christos only sent me looks that sent shivers down my spine each time our eyes met at any instance.

I rushed to get a coat and then wore it as fast as I could. "You can turn around now."

He did as I said, his eyes trailing from my feet to my eye. "Ahem, Charlotte, your training partner, isn't feeling too well this evening, but she informed me that you needed to come for the peace meeting, so I came to tell you that we are almost ready to leave. Please get dressed", he said, and I was about to reply that that was what I was doing, but he walked away before I could open my mouth. He was probably embarrassed. I ought to have been too, but I was not, maybe because I was not attracted to him and I did not care.

I dressed and went out to see Christos and his members, his wife included, all dressed up for the peace meeting.

The bus we took arrived in front of a large hall, one place I had never been all my life, although I once heard my mom talking about Baldar going to get a kind of merging at a large gall. Hell! Why was I even calling her my mother for crying out loud? Her name was Dolores; I had to stick to calling her Dolores.

We went in, and I noticed that there was a very large table in the hall, and some werewolves, which I knew at once were the real pack members, were at one side of the table, while the opposite site was left for us, the free pack members. The first eye that met mine was a handsome-looking alpha, and I recognized him at once. He was known for being extremely arrogant and wicked, but I never spoke to him or experienced any part of him; I didn't even know his name. Right now, I do not like the way he looks at me, like he wants to swallow me.

I was distracted from looking at the handsome face when I started seeing some faces that I knew—some betas and alphas I held grudges against. Wait what? Why did I think the narcissistic and wicked alpha was handsome? I was supposed to be holding a serious grudge against him. Well, that would be my last time ever admiring an alpha. I had to seek revenge for Anderson.

Once I sat down, someone cleared my throat, and when I looked up, I saw it was Baldar, and I was sitting directly opposite him. How pleasant. He looked uncomfortable, and many of the werewolves that recognized me were either surprised or shot me daggers. Well, that was not my business; I was not scared of them. I did not even care; I was a member of a new family now.

No one said anything for a while, and I took a few things. Each time Christos and the ruthless alpha's eyes met, they looked at each other like they wanted to strangle each other to death. Baldar looked at me like he wanted to break my hines, while the lady that sat with the ruthless alpha looked at me with an expressionless face, which I did not like but expected. That lady in person was Emily, the strongest beta I ever knew and, of course, a top bully to Andersin, making her my sworn enemy. I knew her to be very violent at times so, I wondered what she was doing at a peace meeting.

"Christos, what exactly is your plan? Why have you brought an Omega to a peace meeting?", Baldar asked, finally breaking the silence that was getting uncomfortable.

Christos wanted to speak, but I beat him to it. "In case you haven't noticed, Baldar, I am seated right here, and you do not have the right to speak about me the way you are speaking because I am a werewolf as well. So shut the hell up and stop talking about me. We came for a peace meeting, and whatever you guys discuss here is not about me. You should be smart enough to know that."
