Chapter Nine: last free opportunity
Conall's POV
I cannot believe I lost the match against Emily, now she is going to bring in her things and will be staying next to my room from tomorrow. I could swear that she cheated to win because I felt so light headed when I tried fighting her which I never did when fighting with anyone, but I did not have evidence and I had to stick to my words of letting her be my personal assistant even if I truly did not want her to be my personal assistant and if I had a choice, I will kill her.
I ran under the rain in the dark because this was going to be my last day of roaming free without a beta following me everywhere I went. Who did she think she was to follow me to the peace meeting even after I told her that I did not want her to follow me? Her mother was an influential beta and she could have gone for the Peace meeting with any other werewolf, but she chose to follow me and stay right beside me. She even had the guts to ask me if I had something to do with the Omega because she had caught me staring at a point.
The beautiful omega, no filthy omega, had such charming eyes that I have found it tough to look away from her. she made me uncomfortable and I was tensed because I could not fully concentrate on my worst enemy from the free packs, Christos. I was angry because I knew he was using her and she could not see that. Who was I kidding anyway? She was an Omega and was bound to do stupid things. Did she think that the free packs were just a bunch of friendly werewolves? I thought too much about my predicament, how I was stuck with Emily and how much I thought of beautiful eyed Omega that I did not really know that I had somehow missed my way to the human city. As expected most of them were in their homes probably scared that werewolves would attack them at any point in time and they were right. I was suddenly very hungry and I needed someone to eat. So, I started my search for a human. I knew it was totally against the rule for werewolves to even be in the human side of the city let alone try to eat them but I did not care, this was my last free opportunity to be free for me to do what I want because Emily will be present anywhere I was from the next day.
Finally I spotted a girl in an umbrella walking briskly to wherever she was going to. I was in my real form so I did well to hide behind a big trash can while waiting for the right time to strike, I could feel she was delicious.
At the point she tried to open the house door, I ran out from my hiding spot ready to pounce on her and devour her but I was immediately bitten on the leg. I winced in pain as the human girl noticed and instead of running, she froze.I decided to attack the crazy werewolf that had decided to bite my leg, I returned the gesture of biting the werewolves leg and I saw it as a try hard not to howl in pain.It was clearly weaker than I was,way weaker. I felt myself smiling even in my true form. If I kill the werewolf in a human city, it will not be considered a crime anyway so my dinner was going to be set. I bit another part of the werewolf and I could hear the human screaming that I should let the werewolf go but I pretended not to listen after all, her voice was not as loud as she might have intended it to be because of the rain that was pouring down heavily full-stop I was about to give a third and fatal bite when I saw the werewolves eyes, those pretty eyes. It was the Omega. I saw tears in those eyes and I felt a pain in my chest. The hunger and wildness I felt only disappeared leaving me without a clue on what to do next. I wanted to do something to help her but I did not know what to do because I had never cared for anyone or anything enough to help before, the human rushed outside and started pouring some kind of liquid on the Omega's wound that I had created and she looked scared for the Omega not minding that she was risking her own life squatting beside a werewolf. The Omega eyes slowly went closed but she was still breathing, few seconds later she transformed back to a human form and I saw the most beautiful curve I had ever ever seen in my life. To make matters worse, her clothes were partly tore probably due to her werewolf transformation. I began thinking of all the bad things I could do to get that I had not noticed that the human had puvked her up until I heard the door go close.
Carina's POV
I woke up with a splitting headache and luckily for me, Bella was beside me with a cup of water and some pills.
"Hey, don't say anything yet. Just take this", she said giving me the water and the pills which I obediently took without saying anything like she had instructed.
I closed my eye for few seconds and the memories of last night flashed in my head. "Where is he? I hope you aren't hurt?", I said as my eyes sprang open.
"You saved me Carina. I mean I was almost attacked without knowing at first but you saved me", Bella answered. Saved her? She was the one that saved me, wasn't she?
"But, but he but me. He was stronger. How did we both survive?", I asked.
"I don't have an idea, why he stopped attacking you but he stopped and let me carry you", Bella said.
"Why didn't you run when he was attacking me? You could have gotten hurt", I said.
"You can't get rid of me Carina, not in this life, I have even received death threats but I will not be moved", Bella replied.
Death threats? "What do you mean by death threats Bella? Who is threatening you?", I asked trying to sit up.
"You should rest", Bella said.
"Tell me what death threats you received Bella", I said in a serious tone temporarily forgetting about the alpha that attacked me.
