CHAPTER NINE

The guard, a stoic figure, turned to face me, his gaze meeting mine briefly. "It's the last door by the left wing," he replied in a matter-of-fact tone, before continuing on his way without a second glance.

"Thank you!" I called after him, but my words fell on deaf ears as he disappeared down the corridor. With a shrug, I turned and headed in the direction he had indicated, my footsteps echoing in the silence of the palace.

As I made my way towards the Alpha's chambers, I encountered a young woman in her mid-twenties. Her gaze bore into me with a venomous intensity, and her words cut through the air like a sharpened blade.

Diana's voice dripped with contempt as she confronted me, her words laced with disdain. "So you are the slut that was brought from the Claw Pack?" she sneered, her words a cutting reminder of the judgment I faced. "You think because he has declared you as his concubine that you are special?"

Her declaration sent a chill down my spine. The mention of her connection to Alpha Darren, her childhood friend, left me feeling even more insignificant. "In case you don't know," Diana continued, her tone cruel, "I am Diana, Alpha Darren's childhood friend, and we will soon be mates. So you are nothing but a toy."

Her words were like a harsh verdict, casting me aside as if I were a mere plaything in their world of power and privilege. It was a stark reminder of my precarious position within the Blood Moon pack, a place where alliances and status were determined by birthright and connections, and where I, an Omega from another pack, was little more than an outsider.

Her eyes radiated hatred, and I could feel the animosity emanating from her like a palpable force. It was clear that she harbored a deep resentment, and if given the opportunity, she would tear me apart without hesitation. The encounter was a stark reminder that not everyone within the palace viewed me with the same curiosity or indifference. Some, it seemed, regarded me with open hostility, their judgment as swift and unforgiving as the world that had brought me to this place.

The question tumbled from my lips before I could fully process the searing contempt in her eyes. "Who are you, please? And I'm not a..." My words were abruptly cut short by the sharp sting of her hand connecting with my cheek. Pain radiated through my face, and my cheeks throbbed in response to the hot slap.

Tears welled up in my eyes, blurring my vision as I struggled to regain my composure. But there was no chance to defend myself, to explain that I was not the person she believed me to be. Her voice, sharp and laced with anger, pierced the air like a relentless arrow.

"Who do you think you are to talk back to me? Get out of my sight!" she yelled, her words reverberating in the narrow corridor. The force of her anger left me trembling in fear, my heart pounding in my chest.

I retreated, tears streaming down my cheeks, my sense of injustice and confusion overwhelming. I couldn't fathom why everyone here seemed to harbor an instant dislike for me, their judgment swift and brutal. I had endured rejection and hardship in my former pack, and now, in this unfamiliar place, I was met with hostility from people I didn't even know.

Wiping my tear-streaked face, I continued to walk in the direction of the Alpha's chambers. Sadness weighed heavily on my shoulders, and all I wanted was to get through whatever ordeal awaited me with the Alpha. The world had shown me little kindness, and I hoped that this meeting would at least provide some clarity in the midst of the hostility that seemed to surround me at every turn.

Reaching the Alpha's imposing door, I summoned the courage to knock twice. His voice, cold and commanding, sliced through the air, causing a shiver to course down my spine. "It... it's Hailey," I stammered in response to his inquiry.

"Come in," his voice responded, devoid of warmth or welcome. Slowly, I pushed open the door and entered his chamber, my eyes darting around to take in the unusual decor. The room was adorned with the skulls of formidable animals, stark testaments to his prowess as a hunter. It was a chilling reminder of the power he wielded within this domain.

"Close my door!" he barked suddenly, snapping me out of my observation. I had forgotten a fundamental courtesy – to close the door behind me. Panic rushed in, and I hurriedly pushed the door closed, my heart racing with a mix of anxiety and nervousness.

"I'm so sorry," I stammered, my voice quivering with unease as I turned to face the Alpha. "I thought I closed it behind me," I apologized, my words laced with a genuine desire to correct my oversight.

with cold eyes that showed nothing but lust he looked at me like he could see beneath the clothes I had on. "Take off your clothes" he commanded, I immediately went into shock as I looked at him with my mouth ajar "are you deaf or you're just playing stupid?" He roared with obvious anger showing on his face.

"Why should I take off my clothes?" I managed to utter, my voice trembling despite my efforts to remain composed. "I thought you called me here to have a word with me."

The room seemed to close in around me as I confronted the Alpha, a cold sweat forming on my brow. Fear gripped me, but I refused to surrender to it entirely. I was determined to retain some semblance of dignity in the face of his chilling demands.

His response was a sharp rebuke, a cruel reminder of my status as an Omega. "I have nothing to discuss with an Omega," he spat, his words dripping with disdain. He advanced toward me with an unsettling determination, his intent clear as he reached for my clothes, intent on forcibly stripping them from my body.

"Please don't do this to me," I pleaded, tears streaming down my cheeks as the reality of the situation settled over me. The helpless desperation in my voice was palpable, a stark contrast to the bravado I had attempted to muster earlier. "Please, I beg of you."
