CHAPTER 2 Betrayal
"I can never get enough of you!"
"Ah! Ah! Ah! Brett!" She moaned, eagerly bouncing up and down his buttocks.
I watched Jennifer flip him over.
Jennifer was on top of my husband, riding on him like a horse. She had this look of unmixed delight on the dark features of her face.
He said nothing, just palming her bare breasts in his hands as he moved her up and down his little monster.
"Fuck!" She whimpered, bouncing desperately. "Deeper!" She begged even more. "I'd give you the kids! Don't forget your wife is infertile."
"Please, deeper! Deeper!" She continued to beg. "I'll give you the pup you deserve. I'll be your Luna; the Luna Elissa couldn't be to you, I promise."
My eyes burned from the hot tears that rolled down my face.
"Give me a pup, and you'd get everything you ever wanted."
My heart shattered into a million pieces as I heard Brett's voice. Between thrusts, Jennifer's moans grew even louder as she orgasmed.
My pain reached a climax as I watched him empty his sperm inside her. I place my hand over my mouth to keep myself quiet.
"And I'll make you my Luna; you would never be bullied like Elissa," he whispered.
I didn't need to see any more of this loathsome scene, so I slowly backed away from the door and tiptoed down the stairs. I could hear their greatest intensity ringing in my ears. No, I didn't want to hear that anymore.
It was all a lie. They knew. They knew what I was feeling was my friend and mate's betrayal. I read about that in fantasy novels, but I thought it wasn't real. I mean, I'd never think that my friend, Brett, would do that to me.
However, I also believed werewolves to be fictional, but I got a werewolf as a partner, so why the heck did I believe it was all in my head?
They laughed when I told them about the pain; now I know that was to mock me for being so obviously clueless.
I had read that werewolves never betrayed their mates, but I guess my own case was different.
I was incredibly stupid to think he cared about me; I was only going to be used as a baby-making machine. I was still only a human to them—a f**king outsider.
What about my best friend? The only friends and family I had?
I had brought Jennifer to the pack after I mated with Brett.
We were both orphans, so I couldn't leave her after everything we had been through.
Brett had no objections to her joining the pack because I wanted her close to me, and he said he'd do anything for me.
I didn't know they had something so disgusting going on behind me.
"Luna, what world are you lost in?"
I jerked back to reality as she touched and looked at me. A liquid rolled down my cheeks, and I knew I was already crying.
"Never mind, can I go now?"
She looked at me and wanted to get a word from me, but after I said nothing, she muttered,
"Sure, you can get going, but you can talk to me, Luna."
She smiled, not knowing how much I disliked the name Luna; she shouldn't address me as that, as always.
I stood up and walked out of the hospital, still grasping my pregnancy test results in my hands as I climbed into my car.
I didn't know where I was going, nor did I care, but I put my car in drive and sped off down the driveway.
I drove on for miles and miles into the forest, feeling the pain start all over again. At some point, I felt a ghastly burn across my body, which made me pull over.
I wanted to stumble out of the car to shout out my pain. When I got an idea at that point, I was truly a pitiful sight. I always try to be strong, but my reality is that I have always been a weak girl.
I was happy I didn't leave home with my gamma or any guard; I needed to be on my own and knew if he saw me like this, he'd be the first to let Brett know. Gammas were extremely protective and too domineering for me to handle at this point. I felt as though he had feelings for me at times, but I was not sure.
Maybe Eden would have been an even better mate.
"Come on, Elli, calm down. I've got just the perfect plan." I comforted myself and looked at the steering wheel. "No more being weak."
I was about to start the car again when I caught a glance at my results and tossed them out of the car.
I looked down at my flat stomach and realized no one except Doctor Gabriela knew I was pregnant. Just then, another idea came into my mind.
At first, I wanted to go home and ask for a divorce, but if Brett found out that I was carrying his child, he would never let go of me.
So I took out my phone and called Dr. Gabriela.
Ring. Ring.
"Hello Luna," she immediately said as she picked up.
"Hello, doctor, please, can you keep the news of me being pregnant to us?" I said, "I would love to tell Brett in my own time and in my own way."
I tried to sound as though I was super excited.
"It's no problem, Luna; it's your call now."
I nodded as I heard her voice.
"Thank you so much, Dr. Gabriela."
I hung up and gave her a bittersweet smile.
Without wasting time, I dialed another number on my phone and sent the call.
Ring, Ring.
"Hello Jeff, please help me; I really need your help at this point," I said.
"With what, Elli?"
Jeff is one of my trusted friends. I'm not sure who to trust anymore, but I had no choice but to turn to him at the moment.
