CHAPTER 2 Be My Luna

Logan's POV

I sat in my study dealing with pack matters when sudden knocking on my door took me out of my focus.

"Come in," I said after making a note on the document I was reading to remind me where I stopped.

Adam, a member of the Elder Council, entered my office. He bowed to me in greeting and I nodded in approval. He walked up to my desk and respectfully placed an invitation in front of me.

"What is this?" I asked, picking up the invitation and leaned back in my chair.

"This is a birthday party invitation to Luna Sandra of the Silver Bow Pack. Before you refuse, my Alpha, remember it is important that you attend such events to meet potential she-wolves that could fill the Luna vacancy within our pack," Adam explained.

I frowned after hearing his response. "Elder Adam, as an Alpha, I do not need a Luna. I manage the Night Walker pack alone."

"Alpha, you are an excellent leader, that's without question," Elder Adam said. "However, you are 35 years old. The heirs of other Alphas of your age are almost adults. Countless she-wolves inside and outside the pack admire you. You have endless options and you can easily find a mate that suits your preferences."

"As I said before, no. I don't need a fated or chosen mate," I replied.

Adam sighed in defeat and nodded. He bowed, picked up the invitation, and left. My Beta, Paul, who had been quietly standing by my side, spoke up slowly. "Alpha, please reconsider. Adam is trying to help you. There are consequences of failing to acquire Luna. There are already rumors of pack members considering leaving because of this. You can no longer refuse the Elders. If they choose to, they can remove you as an AlphaThe stability of the pack depends on an Alpha and a Luna. You can't do the job of both."

Adam had a good point. I myself had heard some of those rumors and no matter how I try to soothe concerns, my pack was still concerned. I pinched my brow in frustration and finally decided to attend the party.

Althought I didn't need a mate, the pack did need a Luna. But, a party was not where I would look for one. I didn't expect to find a suitable Luna candidate at these parties, but it is the effort that counts to the Elder council.

The next day, after dealing with necessary pack affairs, Paul and I drove to Silver Bow pack.

"Alpha, I think we're too late for the party. We're three hours late and it will be coming to an end soon," Beta Paul said with some concern as we approached.

"It doesn't matter. My only goal is to show up and not embarass Luna Sandra. I just need to make an appearance, that is all," I reassured him.

As I stepped through the door to look for the host of the party, a familiar face caught my eyes.

My wolf perked up and howled, "Liya!"

No, the girl trying to get away from a man couldn't be my mate that died years ago. But when our eyes met, I was stunned and frozen in place. They looked so alike.

Thinking of Liya who died in my arms made my heart ache.

As I was lost in my memories, the girl was now standing in front of me. Again, my wolf was excited at being so close to her.

Without warning, she grabbed my tie and I allow her to tug my head down.

We were face to face and I didn't move, wondering what this girl was going to do. Then, her lips were on mine.

Despite the fact that she seemed unsure of how to kiss properly, she did pretty well, but she should know better to force an Alpha into anything. I growled low in my throat and she released me. She looked at me with her beautiful ocean-blue eyes that were silently pleading with me not to reject her.

Being so close to her, she looked so much like Liya that I wrapped my arm around her waist and pulled her to me much to her surprise. I then gave her a real kiss.

Suddenly, an angry voice interrupted us.

"How dare you humiliate me Cynthia after I offered you mercy! You will pay for humiliating me!" The man that the girl had run away from yelled at us before storming off.

I looked at Cynthia, who didn't seem fazed by the man's threats. She even breathed a sigh of relief, clearly happy to escape him.

"I am so sorry. I had to kiss you to get that man to leave me alone," Cynthia explained. "Thank you for not pushing me away." She didn't seem embarrassed by what she had just done, but her flushed face betrayed her calm demeanor.

"Forced kiss?" I repeated her words in confusion.

Paul laughed beside me and I glared at him. He immediately stopped laughing.

I didn't agree that she had forced the kiss on me. I could've easily pushed her away, but I didn't. I wanted that kiss.

"Anyway, thank you again. Goodbye!" Cynthia said and she began speedwalking away.

I caught her by her arm as she was not going to run away now.

"Why are you running away?"

"Uh, I wasn't trying to run away,"

I smirk at her as she clearly didn't know her face was telling on her. She looked so guilty that it was cute.

"Since you weren't trying to run away, then come with me," I offered.

Both Cynthia and Paul looked at me with confusion.

"I have an arrangement that will benefit both of us. Let's go back to the car to discuss," I explained.

The party was too crowded and not suitable for discussing important matters.

Cynthia didn't hesitate and followed Paul and me to the parking lot. When we arrived at my car, Paul opened the doors for us. I gestured for Cynthia to get in and followed her, closing the door behind me. Paul stood guard outside.

"What do you want to talk about?" Cynthia asked. She looked calm, but the way she fiddled with the bracelet on her neck let me know that she was nervous.

"Relax. I want to work out a deal with you," I said.

Cynthia looked at me suspiciously and asked, "What kind of deal?"

"I want you to become my Luna."
