CHAPTER 5 The Wolfless Bitch?

Cynthia's POV

The three of us had spent the entire night setting up the venue for the banquet, working tirelessly until 4 am on the day of the event. Exhausted, I finally managed to catch some rest when a knock on the door abruptly awakened me. It was Beta Jim, Alpha Aiden's Beta to be exact.

"Miss Cynthia, Alpha Aiden wants me to inform you that as a member of the Garcia family, you are expected to attend the banquet on time," Beta Jim relayed. He seemed uncomfortable speaking with me.

I couldn't help but laugh at his words. In his eyes, I am still a member of the Garcia family. What a joke. I should at least feel appreciative, but all I could see how this was a cruel joke.

"Cynthia, if you just admit your mistake to Alpha, I believe your situation will be much better," Beta Jim suggested.

I didn't want to cause any trouble for Beta Jim, who had shown me some respect amidst the Silver Bow Pack. Sometimes I wondered what my life would have been like if he was my father. "I haven't done anything wrong, so I won't apologize for something that I didn't do. As for the banquet today, don't worry, I will attend on time." Beta Jim nodded and left my room solemnly.

"After freshening up, I opted for a simple white T-shirt and jeans. It wasn't like I had anything else to wear as the dress I had was stained with my blood after I was beaten. I made my way to the venue and of course, the banquet was already in full swing.

Amidst the crowd, I immediately spotted Nancy, dressed in a stunning silver backless long dress that showcased her curves flawlessly. There was no denying that Luna Sandra had a knack for dressing up.

Standing on either side of Nancy were Luna Sandra and Alpha Aiden, while she stole shy glances at a tall man in a dark blue suit, who drew the attention from many she-wolves. Although his back was turned to me, I was certain that it was Alpha Logan. It made sense, as there was no other figure who could fit the description on such an important occasion where the three most prominent members of the Silver Bow Pack were receiving guests.

As if sensing my gaze on him, probably because I was staring too hard, the man turned around and locked eyes with me. Confirming my suspicion, it was indeed Alpha Logan. He raised his glass in acknowledgment, but I pretended not to see and continued enjoying my cupcake.

Alpha Aiden noticed Alpha Logan's attention and, upon seeing my attire, his expression darkened instantly. His expression darkened even more when Alpha Logan began walking towards me. With Nancy, Luna Sandra, and Alpha Aiden in tow, Alpha Logan approached me, they looked as if they were his personal bodyguards."

"We meet again, Cynthia," Alpha Logan said, causing everyone's attention to shift in my direction.

'What does he want now?' I thought irritably, wary of his intentions.

Luna Sandra, noticing Alpha Logan's focus on me, wasted no time belittling me. "Cynthia, today is such an important day, how could you come to the banquet dressed like that? If you had informed me earlier, I could have had some of Nancy's dresses sent to you by the servants."

Knowing that Nancy's clothes wouldn't fit me, I sneered. "I don't need them. They wouldn't fit me anyway; my waist is too big, and my chest is too small."

Nancy attempted to defend her mother's actions. "Don't overthink it, Cynthia. Mother was just trying to help."

Though Nancy's hateful gaze was evident, I had to maintain my composure in front of Alpha Logan. Even though I was trying, the situation was so utterly ridiculous that I couldn't help but laugh.

"Nancy, do you hear yourself? Was that supposed to be a joke? Mother trying to help me?" I asked, trying to keep control my laughter."

"Shut up, Cynthia!" Alpha Aiden commanded in his Alpha voice, compelling me to silence. He then turned to Alpha Logan, offering an apologetic smile. "Cynthia lacks manners, unlike Nancy."

Nancy smirked victoriously, delighting in the familiar scene that had played out countless times before. I couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness at the blatant favoritism.

As I struggled to find words to defend myself, Luna Sandra eagerly promoted Nancy to Alpha Logan. "Alpha Logan, Nancy has been beautiful since a young age. It's not an exaggeration to say that anyone from our Silver Bow Pack to the Night Walker Pack who chose her as a mate would be lucky. She has always conducted herself with grace and decency, unlike some people. Nancy has never engaged in any inappropriate behavior with any man."

Luna Sandra looked directly at me when she mentioned "some people."

"I wanted to argue, but the words escaped me. Witnessing my embarrassment, Luna Sandra's smile grew.

"When Nancy was 16 years old, she had her first shift! I haven't heard of any Alpha's daughter who had her first shift earlier than Nancy," Alpha Aiden proudly boasted.

In that moment, a strong sense of irony washed over me. Compared to me, wolfless no better than a human, Nancy would undoubtedly be a more suitable match for Alpha Logan. After all, his future Luna should be a talented she-wolf.

I turned my gaze towards Alpha Logan, noticing a lack of warmth in his eyes, despite his patient demeanor.

Our eyes met, and he offered me a reassuring smile before extending his hand towards me. I took it without hesitation.

Among the surprised gazes of everyone present, Alpha Logan's deep voice resonated throughout the banquet hall, making his intentions clear.

"Alpha Aiden, Luna Sandra, you have misunderstood. I didn't come here to propose to Nancy. The person I wish to marry is Miss Cynthia," Alpha Logan declared, causing chaos to erupt in the entire hall."

"Are you out of your mind? You won't marry me, but you'll marry this useless piece of garbage?" Nancy erupted, her face twisted in anger.

After a few moments of shock, Alpha Aiden regained his composure and turned his attention to Alpha Logan, who was now giving him an ominous glare. Acting swiftly, Alpha Aiden hurriedly used his Alpha call on Nancy. "Shut it!"

Meanwhile, Luna Sandra, still oblivious to the situation, angrily questioned, "Cynthia, the wolfless bitch? Are you mistaken? No one in their right mind would choose her over Nancy!"

Alpha Logan's expression soured even more at her words. His aura shifted, releasing a powerful pressure that overwhelmed Luna Sandra. She collapsed to her knees, and a profound silence settled over the hall, save for her agonized cries.

"Alpha Logan!" Alpha Aiden exclaimed. He flexed his aura, but it was no match for Alpha Logan's strength. It took everything in Alpha Aiden not to drop to his knees alongside Luna Sandra.

"The 'wolfless bitch' you referred to is my future Luna, the most respected person who will be admired by a hundred in the Night Walker Pack," Alpha Logan said coldly, glaring at Luna Sandra.

"I, Alpha Logan, intend to marry Cynthia Garcia. Is that clear enough for you, Luna Sandra?"
