CHAPTER 5

" Okay princess, it's time to go home." David finally said, earning a glare from his daughter. They had quarrelled with Lily in the morning regarding the issue of a mother.Lily had always craved the Love and affection of a mother. But David was reluctant to find a good mother for her.

Actually, it wasn't because he wasn't willing, it's simply because the women he chose were all disliked by his daughter.

He would introduce a nice woman to his daughter and Lily would bash at the woman or reject her coldly making him helpless.

David knew of his daughter's situation but his lily was picky. He was determined to give her a complete family but everytime, Lily would reject the Ladies he introduced to her.

Ofcourse, the only purpose he was willing to get married was to give his daughter a complete family so he could only settle with the lady his daughter had approved. Love was no option for himHe was thirty one years old this year and the matter of love and relationships was not something he was considering, all he cared about was his daughter's welfare.

Lily was really annoyed by her father's incompetence, now that she found a woman, perfect for a mother, how could her father still remain indifferent and urge her to leave Instead of trying to buy them time? If she manages to convince her beautiful sister, then her father will benefit and get a wife without toiling.Even with her complaints, she still moved out of bed, wore her shoes with the help of her beautiful sister and walked past David.

He didn't get mad. He could tolerate anything from his daughter since he was the useless one.Sheila held Lily's little hand as they left the house, leaving David behind who strolled out later with a calm expression on his face. After walking them to the small gate, they bid each other goodbye.

" Thanks Miss..."

" Sheila"

" Miss Sheila, thanks for taking care of my daughter. " David said, gratitude deeply embedded in his voice,' And thanks too for allowing me to find you ' he added in his heart."

" Oh,it's nothing. I enjoyed her company." Sheila replied not wanting to be too modest.

The group left and entered a Maybach that was parked outside the gate. It was very conspicuous and attracted the attention of many. People, young and old, were standing aside , watching as the family entered the car and left the area.

Sheila went back to her small house and all of a sudden it felt very quiet. It was uncomfortable. She already missed the little chatterbox by the name Lily. Thinking about her beautiful oval-shaped face with little baby fat, Sheila smiled to herself. The little one was so adorable.

She was about to continue with her Job hunting when she spotted some dollars neatly placed on the table. She stared at them dumbfounded. Actually, Sheila needn't be told who left them behind. It must be that David guy. Anyway she wouldn't refuse his kindness, she had nothing to eat for supper, a hundred dollars can manage her for a week on a tight budget.

Sheila picked the dollar notes and hid them in her purse. Just then, the door was banged." Here we go." She murmured to herself. She didn't need anyone to tell her that was the landlady.

" Bless me dear Lord." Dealing with that hateful woman needed a lot of patience and grace. She walked to the door and opened it , making a cracking sound. The door was made of wood and it was old.

" Hi?" She greeted the landlady who was staring at her angrily. She was nervous like shit." Don't hi me , little girl, where is my money?" The landlady didn't acknowledge her greetings. She was always like this whenever the rent was due not to mention she hadn't paid for two months now.

" I will give it to you tomorrow." Sheila replied timidly.

" Tomorrow my as.s , that's the same story I hear everytime I come here. Do you think I run a Charity home here where you can just stay without paying?" The woman yelled , attracting attention from the nearby people. She was born rude and she didn't try to conceal it.

With her shrill voice, Sheila knew even those few streets away could hear the woman's words." I haven't had a stable Job but I will try and give you the money tomorrow." Sheila tried to explain." I don't want to hear excuses, little girl. Tomorrow if I don't find my money, I will throw you away. I have bills to pay, should I sell my ass to get them paid? Tomorrow isn't that far, you better start packing if you don't get the money." The lady said walking away."

Where can I get all that money from?" Sheila lamented after the woman left. Ofcourse, tomorrow's talk was a way to send the woman away. There's no way she'll have that much .

Walking back to the house, she decided to lay in bed and relax.' Today might be the last day I have a roof over my head. ' Sheila murmured to herself. She knew that vile woman might carry out her threat. The probability of her being thrown out of the house was 99.9%.Sheila slept all through the evening.

At six, she woke up, took a bath and wore her favourite denim overalls and some sports shoes. She intended to go around asking for a job. Evening time came with some manual jobs with a meagre pay but being short of money, she could only make do.After going to several food stalls, nobody was willing to offer her a Job. Be it washing dishes or serving customers.

" Why is nobody willing to give me a job tonight?" She murmured to herself biting the pancakes sprinkled with strawberry jam she just bought for supper." It is said that Mrs Hannah made a lot of loss after you offended one of her customers. They are unwilling to give you a Job lest you land them into trouble." Eve, who was working as a waitress at the stall murmured to her. They came to know each other some months ago while working in the same stall one night.
