CHAPTER 2 Bought his house?

A blue and white car stopped outside a house. The door opened forcefully. Of course, it was another day. The sun shone brightly. The blue sky was dotted with fluffy white clouds that drifted lazily in the gentle breeze.

Specks of dust seemed to dance in the shaft of afternoon sunlight that slanted through the window.

Nathan got out of the police car and adjusted his jacket

“Look here Bobby”Nathan said leaning down the car window and peeking inside to look at the cop, who dared lay his hands on him

“Before you say any shitty thing…quit wasting your time getting into fights,” the policeman said, cutting Nathan off. With a scoff, Nathan smirked

“Whatever Bobby…next time stay the hell out of my business” he hated it when people interfered in his affairs. Especially the cops

“For the last time, it's James… Carl James” the policeman snapped feeling irritated and Nathan chuckle helplessly.

“Stay out of my affairs Carl…we don't want you losing a bone or two, “Nathan said coldly, he respected the young cop. Despite being the same age, Nathan respected men of the law

However, the black-haired cop with a broken nose was stubborn. He didn't learn anything from having a broken arm and nose which he got from getting into brutal fights with criminals

“Just take care Dawson…and say hello to your mom and sisters… I would have loved to come in..., however, work's calling” Carl said glancing to the house entrance and then looking at his wristwatch. Nathan didn't utter a word. Hence, with a warm nice, Carl started the car. He didn't even drive since Nathan didn't show any signs of moving his arms from the window

“Look here rascal…if you want to go out causing a brawl and beating up rich old men…, please give me a heads-up first” Carl added sarcastically, Nathan found Carl's words funny however he moved away from the car letting the man drive away

Nathan waited until Carl's car disappeared then did he straighten up. Glancing around. His neighborhood was awfully quiet, mainly his house

“Damn it” he spent the night in jail, who knew how worried his family were

pushing open the small gate, he proceeded in. The flowers on the porch were nicely arranged. Nathan smiled faintly, seeing how beautiful the garden looked. It seemed his mom had gotten up to water her plants

“Bro… how could you”immediately he walked inside his house, his two sisters came running and threw themselves at him

“Do you know how worried we were?” said Zoey, the 18 years old girl with specs, with a cute baby face. Nathan was too tired

“Mom nearly went crazy,” the youngest said, Adeline was the youngest and the most spoiled. She was beautiful with bright hazel eyes, just like Zoey. His two sisters and mother mentioned the world to him

“Hey, I'm okay…no need to kill me with your death hugs,” Nathan said, shoving them aside and making his way to the kitchen. The two were still in their pajamas which made him think

“School?” he asked arching his brows, immediately his sister joined him in the kitchen

“Well we can't go,” said Adeline as she pushed herself up and sat on the kitchen island. Creasing his brows, Nathan pulled the refrigerator open

“I thought I had a word with that damn principal of yours” he clarified it. There was no need to keep his sisters out of school due to something so trivial

“If you stayed home much then you would know…we haven't been in school for two weeks, “Zoey said coldly. Stopping in his tracks, Nathan looked at his little sister, and she had a dark facial expression

“Zoey…mind how you talk to your brother,” Adeline said, shooting daggers at her elder sister. It was amusing how Adeline sometimes acted like a mature girl

“I'll go and talk to him…don't worry, "Nathan said, ignoring Zoey's sarcastic terms. He knew his little sister was hurt about everything. He understood her and hence didn't get offended

“Where is mom?” he asked once he took a bottle of water to cool off, and they walked back to the small living room.

The house wasn't that big or fancy like some houses; however, it was big enough for them. Three bedrooms, with self-contained bathrooms. His two sisters shared a room. He had his room and the other one for his mother

He made an extra room, a library for his little sister, and a small study room in the basement for himself. He liked peace

The kitchen wasn't big but small and well-equipped. The house had two exits, or rather entrances. One was the main sitting room door and the kitchen door which led to a small garden. The two bedrooms were on the second floor with a few stairs leading up

to His bedroom was down, he liked that

“What? How didn't this happen…has mom seen this?” Nathan exclaimed in disbelief immediately he came down after a long cold shower. Only to be shown something he wasn't expecting

“No…mom went to the flower shop early…these have been coming in… I-I was scared to show her”Zoey explained and Nathan was beyond angry. This was why he acted savagely. Because people always found a way to get on his nerves

“Bro…it's the worst…the rest of the neighbors already agreed to this…everything will be demolished in two days”Zoey added showing him all the notices they have been receiving and all she didn't show was her mom, not her brother. With each notice he read, Nathan's brows knitted. Zoey watched her brother and knew he was suppressing his anger

“How dare they…this is our house…my house…who gave them the rights!” Nathan snapped, slamming the envelopes on the small wooden table. His hands fisted tightly.

“We can't…we can't do anything, okay…these people are too much…” Zoey broke into tears. Nathan didn't know this was happening. How did the government sell off the land around his neighborhood including his house? It was his and his family

“Hey…don't…don't cry” Nathan muttered softly and pulled Zoey in his arms. Calming his nerves, his hands ran in Zoey's soft locks. Petting her lovingly. Despite being eighteen. Zoey understood things like a grown-up. She knew when to get Adeline and his mom Claire involved.

It was good his mom didn't see this. Who knew what she would have done

“Go… I'll fix this” Nathan said, letting Zoey go. The girl nodded and got up from him

“Bro…we won't lose the house right?” Zoey asked, turning around once she got to the door. Nathan was hesitant as he stared at his little sister. Helplessly his lips curled upwards into a warm smile

“Never,” he said assuredly and Zoey nodded and left the study room. Immediately after the door closed, Nathan's gaze shifted back to the four notices on his table. He didn't expect such a thing to happen.

“Who bought this?” he muttered, reaching for his phone. He needed to find out who exactly bought his house and the entire neighborhood

“Hey…remind me which son of a bitch is trying to leave my family homeless, “Nathan said. Immediately, the person he called answered. Getting up from the chair. He walked to the small window. His right hand held the phone tightly as he listened carefully

With each word he heard, his expression changed. Brows knitted together.

“We'll see about that,” he said, and disconnected the call. He just called the person who dealt with land and houses. Someone he trusted. He, too, was helpless in this but told him who exactly was trying to buy something which was his

“Lady Laura…that witch”Nathan murmured out the words disdainfully. His hands clenching tightly that the phone he was holding nearly broke into little pieces from the death grip.
