CHAPTER 7 A proposal
“You dare!” Nathan growled and struggled to free his hands. His eyes shot with venom, seeing how the woman was getting on his nerves. Seeing this, Laura smirked.
“Flog him… break his bones…make sure he bleeds to death…if not, then…all of you will suffer?” like a queen, Laura gave her final word. Carl nodded and took the whip himself. Standing before a raging Nathan. He knew this was for the best…lady Laura had the final say
Nathan didn't argue. His sharp eyes fixed on Laura sitting on the chair again. If looks could kill, then Carl was certain the lady would have died. Nathan had never laid his hands on a woman before
Who knew what he was thinking when he nearly killed Laura
With each strike, the pain burned in his mind before it was even over. Nathan stood still. His hands restrained. The sound each time it landed on his back felt like the plank was being hit against the wall. Tearing across his back as blood trickled down
Nathan stayed put, his eyes turning red with each strike. Carl stilled his heart. Striking with full force and each time a cut formed. Red liquid dripped down his back, staining his briefs.
Laura watched in anticipation. The pain was there. The man was being flogged mercilessly with his cane; however, he didn't show any pain. He was still and didn't utter a single word
Nathan bit his bottom lip. His eyes fixed on the woman. He didn't avert them even when he was being hit on the same spot
Anyone would scream, surrender to the merciless torture, however, even if he felt giddy and trestle at the last stroke. He stayed put. Carl continued lashing, caning Nathan until he surrendered. Unfortunately, the young man was stubborn, he endured everything
“Stop!” came Laura's voice. Getting up from the chair, she gracefully fixed her dress. Carl was drenched in sweat as he heaved silently.
He had never done this to someone he considered his family. Nathan was dealt with the previous day. His wounds were still fresh, even now, his back was covered in cuts and bruises.
Blood dripping down like water. His mouth was droopy, his eyes had turned red. From the excruciating pain, he was subjected to
“Leave” Laura ordered for Carl and his men to live, and they did. Waiting for the door to close. Laura turned to the man
“You are stubborn aren't…such an interesting character…'' Laura said and started walking around. Crossing her hands over her chest. She was intrigued. Nearly stupefied by the young man's braveness.
“I like men who are docile… timid and not so arrogant,” she said, and stopped behind Nathan. The man was bleeding like a wounded calf. Too weak to stand and too exhausted to pass out. Averting her eyes from Nathan's back. She walked back to his front. By now, Nathan had his eyes closed. His breathing stable,
“Get out,” Nathan muttered through clenched teeth. Glancing up. He was a ferocious animal. Angry and untamed. Laura reached her hand for his arm. The man snarled, startlingly. Smiling to herself. Laura traced her fingers. From his shoulder down to his biceps. Lingered there a little and went all the way down. Nathan was not happy. He fought and struggled to get the woman away from him
“I like you… I have a proposal for you” she said moving backward. Scanning the man. Even in such great pain, he showed his arrogance. He didn't look so old. Maybe in his early 20s. Laura guessed
“You are despicable…the minute I leave from here…you'll be sorry” Nathan muttered. His voice is deep and masculine. Laura had to say. The young man was quite different. He held authority despite having nothing.
“You won't leave from here…you messed with the wrong woman… I'll make sure you spend the rest of your life here” she was serious. The man dared to lay his hands on her. No man dared to harm lady Laura unless they were courting death
She gave the man an opportunity to apologize however he was still arrogant
“I'll make sure you suffer here…not just that… your pathetic family will suffer” Laura spat out bitterly. The glare Nathan shot at her made an impact.
“Touch my family, and it will be the last time you touch anything!” Nathan grunted. Moving his hands, the sounds of chains moving erupted in the room. Even so. Laura only yawned lazily. She was bored
“Such empty threats…what can you do huh… while locked up in here,” she said, pulling the chair closer and lowering down. Smirking at Nathan, she placed her purse in her lap
“While in here…your mother will get sick…no one to look after her…in a heat of desperation…” Laura added and retrieved her phone from her purse. Nathan suppressed his rage. If only he was free. Then he would have ripped her into shreds and fed her to the dogs, “your sisters will switch to doing something you wouldn't approve of. To save their mother” she finished the sentence with a click of her tongue. By now, Nathan was seeing red. Laura didn't mind, she got up from the chair and walked back to him
“I have a simple solution to your problem” moving closer she leaned toward Nathan. Parted her lips lightly and whispered something into Nathan's ears, which left him dumbstruck. The lady moved away Immediately. Chuckled and picked up her purse
“You have only a night to think about this and give me a satisfying answer. I'm not fond of giving people second chances… nor do I bother with arrogant men," the woman said, and all Nathan did was watch her. She was indeed a snake with a venomous tongue.
Sharp and manipulative. She knew exactly how to trap her prey. Nathan thought he heard wrong. However, looking at her. She was so shameless
“I give you a night Nathan… think about it… Tomorrow morning… I'll be here… make a wise decision” saying that, Laura turned to leave. Swaying her hips, she-cat walked out of the room, leaving Nathan standing motionless,
For a second he forgot about his wounds. Unfortunately, with just a slight movement. His back stung, the sharp pain pierced through his heart.
